"Tch. What a shame. I'd have loved to see that. I just wish the rules allowed them to make a thread for that; I don't suppose you managed to get a video of what happened, did you?" Otoha sighed while Lavender scratched her head at the Anino's remark. What thread? Rules? Did she think she was on some kind of RP forum? "Best not mention that before Marina or Elza," Lavender repeated, shaking her head. "... What in God's name are you talking about!?" Liz groaned as she rose. "And you, I have no idea how you managed to get into my body like that, but I really don't appreciate that." Well, as annoying as this Anino appeared to be, she hadn't posed any threat thus far, and Lavender realized that they could talk to this one instead of simply sending a Saber Gust her way. "Sorry about that, but... well, it was necessary. I had to find a host as soon as I entered this dimension. An Anino's existence is as fragile as sand, just as that violent tsundere over there said, even for an exceptional Anino like me." "And what makes you special all of a sudden?" Sumomo growled, her disdain towards Otoha painfully obvious. "Because I was already dead. Back then, I was just known as a Persona, a Stand connected to my beloved little sister, so that sorta makes me a veteran in the whole 'intangible being with a fragile existence' field. But when the universe collapsed..." Otoha sounded visibly serious at this point, biting her lower lip and hanging her head in sadness. "I'm not sure where she went, but I have to save her. And frankly, becoming like this was the only way." "How did you... become like this, anyway?" Liz asked as she sat on the couch again. During the conversation, Lavender had disappeared to the kitchen, returning once again with a canned juice in hand. "If you're thirsty, drinks are in the fridge," Lavender pointed behind her with her thumb towards the kitchen before sitting down. "As with all guests, make yourselves comfortable." After the brief digression, Lavender turned her attention back to Liz and her new friends. "Hell, I don't know. All I know is that one moment I was chilling with her and our boyfriend, and the next, the world just broke apart. I couldn't save Hajime, but... I figured I could somehow place a part of myself in my sister so that I can find her when the time came. It was bad enough as it was; I also had to give something else to a friend of mine as a request from another friend. It's... complicated. But all I remember after losing my sister and feeling that I was fading away was a voice calling out to me to destroy, destroy, destroy." Otoha looked up at Liz and Sumomo. "That's all I remember, honest. After that was waking up and having that awful feeling of being someplace cold and distant, lost with only a bare sense of self, and seeing that portal that led me here. But all I want to do is save my sister. That's all. Which is why I hate it when you lump me in with those other bastards!" "Tch, for all I know, you're just lying to us!" Sumomo retorted, but quickly turned quiet when Liz raised her hand. "I don't know what's real and what's not, but... I've heard two sides of the story. It's sad that you both came from the same universe and yet seem unable to see each other eye to eye. But for all intents and purposes, that universe is gone, and we're both worried about this one. Let's not argue that matter and just try to get along, okay?" Words of wisdom from Liz, and well said ones at that. "You're right. Sorry." Sumomo sighed. "Aye," Lavender added. "When it comes to knowing about this elusive enemy, we'd have no better ally than Otoha." Her experiences with Marina had taught her that there is no better ally against an enemy than one who used to be one of them, and with regards to the Anino, Otoha would be no exception. "Same here. But goddammit, if you hit me one more time-" Just when it seemed things were about to get heated up once again, Liz intervened with an angry "tch" and Otoha fell quiet again. "Anyway, all that remains is to wait for Marina to show up. At this point, she said something that made me wonder if informing GLADIUS upper command is a good idea." Liz turned her attention to Lavender. "I agree. Something doesn't seem right about them..." "... wait, how the hell do you know about that!?" Liz demanded. "I can only imagine the questions The Director would ask if we were to report this to him, feh," Lavender replied as she took a sip of pomegranate juice. "Too much red tape within the inner circles, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. But as far as I'm concerned, Marina and Achilles-sensei are two of the people we can definitely count on for assistance." The amethyst-haired Esper fiddled with her smart phone, sending a message to her GLADIUS predecessor, Achilles. "I'm an Anino. I can read your mind, and if you weren't a Singular Point, it would be easier for me to read your heart and grant you your wish as soon as you said it. Besides, it's a better explanation than saying 'I read the thread'." Otoha continued. "What the hell does that even mean!?" Liz groaned. "Well... I'm pretty sure the eggheads at the Alpha Labs would love to hear some of those theories of yours, I mean, if it weren't for the fact we're keeping this under wraps from the rest of the OASIS Foundation, that is." Lavender chipped in. |

The doorbell rang shortly after. Marina had finally arrived, and simply waited to be let in. Whatever it was, she hoped it would be quick. She wasn't feeling all that well considering the events of the previous night. |

"One moment please!" Lavender ran over to the door to answer the ringing of her doorbell. "Come on in Marina," the amethyst-haired Esper nodded in acknowledgment as she gestured towards the living room where Liz, Sumomo and Otoha are gathered. |

Liz blinked when the doorbell rang. "Ehhh... she's fast." "One moment please!" Lavender said as she ran to the door. "Hmmm... something is suspicious about this..." Otoha mused. "Watson-kun! We must investigate!" "No we don't," Liz sighed. "Are you always like this!?" "Only on days ending in y. It's how I cope," she simply said as her spectre dashed towards the door with Lavender. "Hey! Don't act on your own!" Sumomo angrily said. "Eliza, you should have better control over her! You're a Singularity Point! You should be able to manage your spirits!" "I... could," Liz said. "But... I don't know, I guess a part of me is thinking that she's pretty lively and that forcing her to stop doing that would be too sad. Not to mention I'm not the kind of person who wants to force things on people." "Still! She's a wild Anino! She keeps forcing herself on you!" "But she hasn't done anything really bad to warrant forcing her out, right? I'm pretty sure she doesn't mean any harm." Sumomo sighed. "You're too soft..." "I get that a lot," Liz chuckled. Meanwhile, Lavender opened the door and let Marina in. Of course, at this point, Otoha showed up and peeked behind the corner. Then she gasped. "Oh hey! It's the drunk girl's girlfriend!" she chuckled as she popped out of the corner and revealed her ghostly self. "You... don't look so good. Don't tell me she was too rough last night," she said. |

She nodded as she walked in, still looking somewhat worse for wear. Marina knew this wasn't the time or place for such things, but really, how could one forget so easily? How much nicer it would have been to be a machine sometimes, able to simply delete information you didn't want, but she wasn't a machine, nor did she really want to be at this point. "Oh hey! It's the drunk girl's girlfriend! You... don't look so good. Don't tell me she was too rough last night.." Marina simply looked away for a moment. "That's... none of your business." she said meekly. |

Liz sighed at Otoha. "Otoha, stop that. What Marina does in her private life is none of your business. I don't care if that's how you 'cope', it goes too far a lot of times." "Tch. Shame," Otoha sighed as she shuffled back to Liz's side. It seemed that despite her saying that Otoha was free to do what she pleased, she had limits to what she would allow her to do or not do and would rein her in in case she felt she got too far. "Anyway, I guess some reintroductions are in order. Marina, this is Sumomo. She's from that train that we accidentally entered and is the real owner of the Den-O Pass," Liz said. "Sumomo, this is Marina, the friend who ended up with me in the DenLiner that one time." "Hello," Sumomo said politely with a bow. "I suppose I'll have to explain everything from the beginning then..." And she did. She reiterated to Marina the information she knew about the Anino, how to tell if one was contracted to them, et cetera. "We kind of called you here because we figured we should ask your opinion about the matter, since you've been on the train before," Liz said when Sumomo was finished. "We've already kind of decided that you and Achilles-sensei would be best trusted with this information, but I'm pretty sure we're going to need some more help. Problem is, from the looks of the last mission, we have to be careful with what we tell the rest of GLADIUS. What's your take on this?" |

Lavender sat down on a nearby sofa, retrieving her drink from the armrest as she listened to Sumomo's reiteration of the Anino, her encounter with them and such, right from the start for the benefit of Marina's doubt. "We kind of called you here because we figured we should ask your opinion about the matter, since you've been on the train before," Liz added as soon as Sumomo was finished. "We've already kind of decided that you and Achilles-sensei would be best trusted with this information, but I'm pretty sure we're going to need some more help. Problem is, from the looks of the last mission, we have to be careful with what we tell the rest of GLADIUS. What's your take on this?" "My proposal is to use whatever means that is within my authority, as well as to leverage on Achilles-sensei's good relations with the founders of the OASIS Foundation to issue an alert to GLADIUS operatives," Lavender added before taking another sip of pomegranate juice. "We can run this like a standard GLADIUS mission, albeit without running things past The Director." The purple-haired Esper leaned back, eying Marina. "But of course, we could benefit from your insight too," she continued. |

Snapback. Regardless of anything else, she was called in as her working self, and was expected to be that. No more, no less. Marina put on her best work face and shoved her other issues aside. "Most of them still have to report to their superiors, who'll have to report it to others. It's a dangerous play unless you tell them to circumvent that as well, but that's arguably even more dangerous." As a rule of thumb, if you wanted something to be truely a secret from the higher ups, then it wasn't reported, period. Anything with a papertrail could be followed. |

"Most of them still have to report to their superiors, who'll have to report it to others. It's a dangerous play unless you tell them to circumvent that as well, but that's arguably even more dangerous," Marina argued. Liz bit her lower lip at that. It was certainly true in this case - while people didn't have to know about the true nature of the Anino, their reports would cause a bit of inquiry among the higher-ups. And to Liz, if Marina didn't seem to entirely trust the higher-ups about their last mission, they certainly couldn't entirely trust them about this one. "But it looks like we're going to need help regardless anyway. So are you saying that it'll eventually reach the point where we swap one villain for another as soon as the Anino threat is over?" Liz asked. "We could just... you know, lie about it." "... I don't like the sound of that idea," Sumomo interjected, but Otoha raised a hand to the girl's mouth while suddenly wearing black a shiny leather hat and vest and some aviator sunglasses, making her look like some kind of... well, either a Village People reject or someone Hard and Gay at the same time. "Sei sei sei sei!" the Anino growled much to the raven haired girl's chagrin, then continued. "Listen. You could always control what they know about it. Or tell them what they think you know about it. Plausible deniability. We could always say that we thought this was some kind of virus that uses some kind of energy from the people-" Liz blinked. "E's Energy?" "If that's what you call it here, sure. Call it a disease. Something that someone else cooked up as a kind of anti-Esper weapon or something, but went terribly wrong. And you could always say that the DenLiner is some kind if experimental transport device that uses-" "... The teleportation device. A mobile teleportation device..." "W-wait a minute! You're not actually going to go with that idea, are you!?" Sumomo warned. "I somehow get the feeling that the Owner might not like it..." "We'll need to ask him first. But as far as help is concerned, as long as I allow people onto the DenLiner with my pass, it should be allright, right? They won't lose their time or anything, just like Marina. He did say so...
"If it's to protect this world, I shall fight. That much is for certain. And if I have to protect the things that will allow me to do that, even if it means not telling the entire truth, then so be it. I can always apologize later on." Sumomo looked intently at Liz for a moment, then sighed. "I think I'm starting to see why he let you have that pass..." Suddenly, Otoha perked up at something. "Liz. Your body. I sense something awesome happening somewhere else." "What the hell are you talking about now!?" Liz groaned. Otoha ignored her last remark and just spoke again. "Excuse me, I need to borrow it for a while~" Otoha chuckled as she suddenly jumped into Liz's body again in front of Marina and Lavender. At the very least, it did show Marina how the hell Liz caused so much trouble back in the bar, but that was a moot point at this juncture. Right now, the Otoha-possessed Eliza suddenly pulled out a notepad and started to write. Sumomo blinked. "I didn't think you were the kind to take notes about this discussion." "Oh, it's not for this one," Otoha said without missing a beat. "... What the hell are you writing then?" "Porn." ... "... what!?" "Did I stutter!? I said I was writing p-" SMACK. Sumomo angrily hit Otoha in the back of the head with a harisen. "DON'T REPEAT YOURSELF, DAMMIT!" Edited by Pikachu_Fragger, Jul 24 2009, 10:34 AM.

"Most of them still have to report to their superiors, who'll have to report it to others. It's a dangerous play unless you tell them to circumvent that as well, but that's arguably even more dangerous." Came Marina's reply, to which Lavender nodded. Indeed, even if she could circumvent The Director, they would still need to report to their division heads, unless she decided to circumvent that as well - but as Marina had put it, it would be a dangerous game to play. So it would seem they would need to do this the black ops way - on official papers, this operation does not exist. Or better yet, there is no paperwork involved at all. "But it looks like we're going to need help regardless anyway. So are you saying that it'll eventually reach the point where we swap one villain for another as soon as the Anino threat is over?" Liz added. "To be fair, this isn't considered a GLADIUS mission until the paperwork is generated," Lavender interjected. "And I've happened to know from the OASIS Foundation's secret files that there exist powerful Others and Espers not affiliated with our organization... we could contact these individuals to enlist their assistance; there's a possibility." Lavender thought of Terado as she spoke, wondering if the Sentinel could offer his help in this situation. "We could just... you know, lie about it." Otoha added. "... I don't like the sound of that idea," Sumomo replied, but the rogue Anino raised a hand over the girl's mouth, and was now wearing a leather hat and vest, along with a pair of sunglasses. "Sei sei sei sei!" Otoha continued. "Listen. You could always control what they know about it. Or tell them what they think you know about it. Plausible deniability. We could always say that we thought this was some kind of virus that uses some kind of energy from the people-" "E's Energy?" Liz asked, blinking. "If that's what you call it here, sure. You're not actually going to go with that idea, are you!? I somehow get the feeling that the Owner might not like it..." Sumomo warned. A cover story, now they're really doing this the black ops way... Lavender thought. But that was how the world works; it is the gloved hand that hits the hardest, so to speak. "An E'S-based illness... well, that does sound plausible," Lavender replied as she turned to look at the e-shrooms she had been growing inside a flower pot, the mushrooms giving off their greenish glow which would be more readily noticeable if the lights were turned off. "There is sufficient evidence that there are organisms that have evolved to be naturally attuned to E'S energy, and viruses are no exception." "Liz. Your body. I sense something awesome happening somewhere else." Otoha perked up suddenly, and Liz certainly didn't seem happy about it. "What the hell are you talking about now!?" Liz groaned. "Excuse me, I need to borrow it for a while~" Otoha ignored Liz and casually jumped into her body, taking control of the blond Esper. "I knew it..." Lavender muttered; that certainly explains Liz's behavior back at the bar. Now possessed by Otoha, Liz began writing on a notepad. "Would that be a good idea?" Lavender asked, mindful of what Marina said earlier - any administrative paperwork would provide leads that could result in unwanted attention from the OASIS higher-ups. But as long as the notes as kept between themselves, Lavender surmised, all should be fine. "I didn't think you were the kind to take notes about this discussion." Sumomo blinked, apparently surprised at this uncharacteristic behavior from Otoha. "Taking minutes, I see..." Lavender mused. She was no stranger to this concept; during GLADIUS meetings, an agent would be tasked with keeping the minutes - writing down the highlights of the meeting, important points brought up by the agents involved for future references. "Oh, it's not for this one," Otoha replied, still writing. "... What the hell are you writing then?" Sumomo asked apprehensively. "Porn." Otoha replied a matter-of-factly as she continued to write. "... what!?" Sumomo exclaimed after a brief period of silence. "Did I stutter!? I said I was writing p-" Before Otoha could finish, Sumomo smacked the Anino and her vessel on the head with a paper fan she seemingly summoned from out of nowhere. "DON'T REPEAT YOURSELF, DAMMIT!" Sumomo growled, and at this point Lavender couldn't resist the urge to giggle - looks like she could enlist this Otoha for other purposes of her own too... |
