Lavender furrowed her brows in deep thought after Beaumont relayed to her the layout of the chamber and the positions of the enemy forces - although there were less armed guards this time around, the various researchers and laborers made it a more tricky situation, especially given their numbers. Two of the guards - specifically the ones armed with HK416 assault rifles - were positioned on raised platforms located above the ground on scaffolding - meaning that if the team tried to take on the mob head on, the guards could fire downwards at them while they fought the corrupted OASIS personnel.

Here's the plan... Lavender thought aloud after a momentary pause, taking the time to survey the defenses of the enemy and the room layout. We'll move under the cover of darkness - Cypriss, take out the control panel for the lights. Beaumont, guide us along. The first phase of the plan was to knock out the lighting and catch enemy forces off guard, which would make it easier for them to move through the chamber.

In a worst case scenario where we are spotted and combat is inevitable, I want Otoki and Cypriss to prioritize on disabling the guards on the raised platforms - and if necessary, use lethal force. Lavender would rather avoid violence if she could help it, but surviving the mission and getting the source code of the ancient program is top priority in this mission; although she disliked the idea of having to maim or kill her own colleagues in the mission, the idea wasn't particularly abhorrent to her if it boils down to that.

'Right.. works for me..' Cypriss said casually. Turning inadvisable.

'....It's kind of sad how much your power makes you into a pincushion for others.'

'It's kind of sad how your power makes you the guy in the back watching others cut loose~' Cypriss said jestingly.

'... Yeah, I guess.' Beaumotn replied with a smirk.'

Cypriss turned invisible, moving silently into the next room. He didn't have to make it very far... Just.. past... nearly thirty guys who all wanted him dead. Well, this was what training was for.. right? He moved carefully past the soldiers without a lot of problem. Coming to the central circuit breaker. He held out his hand, collecting his energy into a high focus beam "Goodnight... Garcia.." He said blowing the box to hell in a rain of explosively violent sparks.

'...gracie.. .GRACIE.' Beaumont said with a groan. ' Jusst stop..' He said switching to talk to everyone. Okay everyone, combat advantage is ours. Anyone got a way to subdue this many soldiers..?'

Well, there's one idea that comes to mind... Liz spoke in her mind for everyone else. We don't have many disabling options except one. And the problem with that is that we're also potentially looking at getting our asses handed to us too unless someone can make a barrier that'll stop sound.

With that in mind, she turned to Otoki. I saw you making that sound attack earlier, so I'm guessing you can manipulate sound. Think you can make a sound that'll screw up everyone in the vicinity and at the same time control it so that it won't hit us or Cypriss? That might help neutralize the enemy. If they're blind AND deaf, well, I guess you can say that they're completely boned. Of course, there's the danger of the the fact that we're inside a mine and that a really bad vibration could send the whole thing caving in on us, but if you can control the sound well enough, that might not be an issue...

Liz bit her lower lip at that. It was a risk, but at the moment, this was the fastest and best way to neutralize the enemy without killing them, aside from just giving them a bit of ringing in their ears.

Otoki heard them before he saw the number of… corrupted people inside the next chamber; some of them were armed guards while the others are civilian researchers. Their numerous breathing were a dead giveaway for him, the sound of which were amplified by the acoustics of the chamber which was surprisingly good to Otoki’s assumption.

Taking the guards out would be easy for him, even though he himself doubted he can try and not to harm them so as to cause their death. He listened on the exchange between Lavender and the boys of Unit 26 while thinking to himself, postulating of a way to deal with the problem as efficiently and quickly as possible, and arrived at a simple conclusion.

Luckily for him, he wasn’t the only one who came to the idea as well, nevermind if she doesn’t know what he had in mind.

“Yes, I have a way.” Otoki replied, turning to the others behind him. “I have a tune that I can use to knock them out like a light, but I need a few seconds or maybe more to get a feel of the acoustics of the chamber before I can use it for maximum effect. It’ll be directed mainly at them so if you feel a bit light headed or something, count yourself lucky.”

He turns back to see that the lights in the chamber are now off. It was now or never. “Wait for my signal; once I’m ready, all of you should run and close your ears if you don’t want to be a casualty as well! It’ll be over once I stop playing.”

With that, Otoki ran straight towards the open, and opened fire into the crowd without wondering who he would hit, just as long it does before finding himself behind a rocky outcrop. Once the crowd gets busier, Otoki let out a piercing whistle into the air, a sound that would echo over the din and give Otoki some more or less precise location for the best point of attack.

Once he was done calculating in his head, he reached the small bronze disk attached to his belt, which he pulled and expanded it into a horn attachment which he then attaches it to his Reppu. He then removes the mouthpiece located in the workings of the Reppu, and attaches it to the back of the Reppu where he will blow in it later. Once he was sure everything was ready, he called out, “Ready!”

And he then ran out of cover…

'Gonna toss in a little help of my own.' Emilya thought out for everyone. Worse comes to worse, they'd be fired upon out of the surprise, and all they needed was a distraction so what she had in mind should be enough.

First step was applying a quick reinforcement on her eyes, allowing Emilya to see better in the darkness, Otoki needed a setup to incapacitate everyone and thus it would leave him vulnerable in case they spotted him somehow.

"Trace...On." she muttered to herself as she began channeling her E's Energy and began summoning a number of simple bladed weapons. She set her gaze upon the guards, it would be hard for her to aim accurately given her normally bad control at using her projections like this, but right now she was just opting to get rid of their guns, or at least render them unable to use them.

"Go."

Posted Image

Without another word her weapons began flying at the guards, they weren't precisely aimed, but it was enough to either hit their weapon, or the arm carrying it, all else it would just be enough to distract them while Otoki did his thing.

Moving like a ghost befitting his codename, Cypriss went by unseen and unheard by the corrupted OASIS personnel at the excavation site, slipping past a miner dressed in a set of unkempt overalls who appeared to be happily picking his nose as he approached the circuit breaker that controls the lighting for this particular subterranean chamber. Gathering his energy, Cypriss unleashed a blast of high-energy photons at the circuit box, the assault causing the device to explode in a shower of sparks. There was a loud boom as the circuit breaker exploded, followed by shouts of anger and confusion coming from the mind-controlled men and women. Nice and smooth, but it would take more than just the cover of darkness to get them by, considering there's still the chance they could get sniped at, or just dogpiled by the angry mob and beaten senseless.

Liz was quick to assess the situation and relay her thoughts to Otoki.

“Yes, I have a way.” The GLADIUS veteran replied. “I have a tune that I can use to knock them out like a light, but I need a few seconds or maybe more to get a feel of the acoustics of the chamber before I can use it for maximum effect. It’ll be directed mainly at them so if you feel a bit light headed or something, count yourself lucky.”

As soon as the room was plunged into darkness, Otoki acted as he darted out from his position of cover and right into open, firing a few shots into the mob. Several of the shots missed, a few of them hit a couple of random corrupted OASIS personnel and a shotgun-armed guard, although given the distance they were at the guard's tactical armor vest took the worst of the shot and while it succeeded in knocking the soldier down, he wasn't exactly worse for wear.

"Intruder!" One of the rifle-armed guards on the scaffolding shouted as he turned on his night vision scope, although he didn't really take the time to aim carefully through the scope as he fired a triple-round burst at Otoki's general direction, the shots completely missing their mark as the GLADIUS veteran darted behind a rocky outcrop - although it did serve to startle the rest of the mob and add to the chaos on the scene. Above the chaotic din, Otoki let loose a shrill whistle, an echolocation ability of sorts to allow him to gauge the best position to use his disabling sonic attack.

His calculations complete, Otoki reached for a bronze disk attached to his belt, which transformed into a horn-shaped attachment which he place onto his Reppu, readying his weapon by removing a mouthpiece located in its workings and attaching it to the rear. “Ready!” he called out as he broke cover.

Gonna toss in a little help of my own. Emilya announced her thoughts as she performed a quick reinforcement her eyes to enhance her vision. In the time it takes for Otoki to ready his disabling attack, it would leave him open to enemy counterattack, and Emilya was quick to provide cover for her colleague. "Trace...On." Emilya whispered as she traced several bladed weapons.

"Go." At her command, the traced weaponry flew for the guards. The blades flew around, with some of them burying themselves in the surrounding walls and ceilings, but two of them found their mark on the guards positioned at the scaffolding, knocking the assault rifle out of the hands of one soldier, while burying itself in the shoulder of another.

Now's the chance! Move out! Lavender announced as she broke cover, running down the length of the chamber as she released a flurry of Aero Whips ahead of her to push aside the mob, throwing off the aim of one of the shotgun-carrying guards, with the GLADIUS commander looking over her shoulder briefly to ensure her order was relayed properly and the rest of the team were following.

Otoki didn’t instantly go for the offensive straightaway after breaking cover but instead, he ran for an open spot in the open where he had concluded would be ideal to play for the maximum of result. This would draw their attention to him while also giving the team tine to get away and prepare.

Once he reached the spot, he turned to face the crowd, his attentive audience. He drew in a deep breath that lasted like an eternity, before finally raising the Reppu and put the mouthpiece to his ‘mouth’ and blew…

Oto Soujuu: Ongeki Sha Shippu Issen!

The first sound that came out was a very loud B-flat, made by Otoki pressing the first of the valve on the Reppu. Waves of wind and sound enveloped the whole chamber and would send any of the corrupted researchers and guards struggling to stay on their feet, if they don’t have the ear splitting headache to mind about as well.

As the B-flat reached the crescendo, Otoki pressed the second valve, and raises the note of the sound as well as the force of the wind to rock shattering level. Normally, the fierce wind and sound would have tear the people apart, but since Otoki still had the limiter valve on, they would only experience excruciating pain as their body are almost being twisted apart and thrown back bodily by the force of the wind.

In the end, it wouldn't kill them, but just hurt them very badly.

Cypriss looked around as the melee started. This was going to get ugly, so it was time for the stealth operative to bail. They did have an objective after all. Moving silently through the forces of the thirty men as whips of wind, swords, and blasts of sound flew about causing the place to erupt into a rather general melee. He slipped between people along the wall towards the back end... He had to get down lower....

MEANWHILE.

"Whether you like me or not.." Beaumont moved in front of Liz drawing out his gun. "..I'm going to have to protect you in this situation.." He said slowly. "Unless you want to hand over the reigns to one of the other two..." He said as his brother appeared at his side. The large form of the imposing non-human creature floated in front of Beaumont. "Jameson.." He narrowed his eyed. "I'm going to send you to Cypriss to help him in the lower level.."

Jameson turned, his human image that only Beaumont could see had a worried look. 'I'm fine..' Beaumont said mentally. 'I am just holding up the back line anyhow.. Cypriss needs you..' With that the guardian vanished. Appearing again all the way on the other side of the room. Just in time to slam his bladed fingers into the cord holding the elevator up. Almost instantly sending it hurtling down to the bottom of the shaft...

Cypriss blinked, glad he hadn't gotten on the elevator yet. 'Wh--why would you do that Monty?'

'Didn't want the enemy using it to follow you down... You have you're own way down, right?'

'... ugh...'
Cypriss groaned, forming his monkey tail. 'Going down...' He said leaping into the shaft.

The guardian floated down with him.

Lavender shut her eyes tightly for a split second after Otoki released his sonic attack, raising his Reppu and blowing, blasting forth a powerful note so intense it even sent a gust of wind right through the chamber and seemed to shake the very walls - the disruptive waves of sound sending a paroxysm of agony through the bodies of the corrupted OASIS personnel, and giving Lavender a slight headache - although it was not something she couldn't handle, as she delivered an elbow strike to the face of a nearby researcher who was down on his knees clutching his head in pain to ensure that he doesn't somehow manage to fight against the nerve-wracking pain and attempt to attack her.

Lavender looked back in time to witness Beaumont summon his guardian, Jameson, and sever the cord of the elevator leading down - she figured he must've done so to prevent them from using it to follow them down; but it meant they would need to resort to climbing or rappelling to make their descent.

The rest of you, get down to the lower level! Lavender relayed her command as she pointed to the elevator shaft. The edges of her coat, along with her hair began billowing around as the air around her began encircling herself, with the commander providing cover for the GLADIUS agents, ready to use her Aero Whip to lower them down safely if necessary.

"I honestly don't care as long as you can cover both of our asses," Liz grunted at Beaumont as she made a move towards the elevator shaft, plucking out two of the smaller swords from the walls that weren't dug in too deep just in case. Hopefully, he was following her and covering her as she went to follow Lavender's orders. As soon as Otoki began his sonic assault, she tucked the swords under her arms and dashed towards the elevator shaft, covering her ears as she went.

Of course, by the time she got there, she found out that the elevator was severed from its cord.

"... Well, I'm going to need someone to take me down there," Liz mused. She didn't really want to switch to Kanna just for this. It was either that or jump down and use the swords as some kind of rappelling tool, but that would be suicide for her.

"I doubt you'd want to use one of those swords, considering when I use them for projectiles they don't last as long." Emilya commented as she stepped up behind Liz. "If you give me a bit I could trace a proper one." she offered, gazing down the elevator shaft. "Was it really necessary to cut it like that? Then again, the corrupt guys may have done so when we were still in it, huh." she continued.

"Anyway, ask and ye shall receive!" Emilya spoke cheerfully, suddenly scooping Liz up in her arms (after dispelling the swords she was carrying at the time). She had reinforced her body enough, so a jump like this shouldn't be too much of a problem. And without another word...Emilya just jumped down the shaft, and when she reached the bottom (or rather, when she landed on what remained of the elevator), she would stand relatively unharmed, all but setting Liz down safely.

"I've always wanted to try that out." Emilya mused, brushing herself off and checking herself for injury, seems it was a success and she immediately traced the usual blades she used once more.

'Clear the landing!' Beaumont ordered. 'I don't want to land on a soldier and get shot..'

Beaumont moved to the edge of the shaft. Eying the soldiers that were gathered around him and the others as he took a kneeling position. He threw his rope over the edge, fastening it to the top of the edge with one of his spikes. "The elevators are risk in an uncontrolled area like this.." He said simply. "Dynamic entry should always be used where possible..... Never underestimate the power of a cool and badass entrance.. Agent Johnson's personal philosophy..." He adjusted his glasses before standing. "Now.. If you all don't mind.. My partner is waiting for me.." With that he jogged back and took a running leap into the pit. His chord following behind him as he plummeted..

With his free hand he took a grenade form his side tossing it down into the room below. He then extended the tail quickly so that he plummeted quickly. The grenade exploded violently blasting the ruined lift into pieces and blowing the door into the next room...

The doors hung broken from their hinges... Smoke floated out of the shaft.. For a moment there was total silence.

Suddenly the smoke exploded outwards as the quickly dropping agent landed. The momentum sending the smoke flying away. Cypriss stood, gun drawn and pointing into the next room. Eyes locked and alert. "GLADIUS, ARES Division!"

"Nobody move.." Cypriss said adjusting his glasses as he faded from sight. Cypriss wasn't just makign himself invisible though, he was bending the light round the edge of the entire mine shaft. Meaning that everyone in the shaft would be concealed. Including the two newest arrivals. Though not for long. Meanwhile Cypriss was using his tail of solid light to create a wall in front of the door to stop gunfire form spraying in and killing them all.

Cypriss glanced up and extended the barrier of their heads, making it somewhat softer. Beaumont landed on it with a small grunt. Cypriss retraced the barrier and the gray haired boy fell the last few feet to the bottom of the shaft. 'The bottom of the shaft is secured..' Beaumont said casually to the others. 'But in front of us..'

Cypriss, Beaumont, Emilya and Liz were the first to arrive at the bottommost level of the mine - it was here where the OASIS researchers first discovered a set of near-intact ruins, located within a subterranean chamber large enough to house a 747 jumbo airliner. The place was well-lit, with many of the computers and equipment still running, although not a single soul was in sight. Should Beaumont perform a scan of the area, however, he would soon discover the presence of four minds - three of them being Espers, presumably the missing ARES team. Although a fourth presence exists, it was a seemingly alien mind, whose exact nature appeared impossible to probe. All four of them appeared to be gathered in dome-shaped structure located in the center of the excavation site.

Let's move quickly, before they snap out of it, Lavender conjured an updraft of air in the elevator shaft, designed to slow down one's descent and allowing them to land safely.

"C-CRAP!" Cypriss said flashing a bright blast of light to temporarily blind every for a few seconds. 'Everyone cover your eyes and ears..!' He said even as he activated the sensory blinder subsystem of his suit. 'We can communicate telepathically and exterminate the computers via Beaumont's directions but.... remember! Those comps will take over our minds! We can't risk exposing ourselves to them. .We'll have to use area attacks for our counter measure.. Sounds like Otoki's turf to me..'

'.... It gets worse.. .I'm detecting an intelligence.. This A.I. is somehow emitting a psychic resonance.. A self aware program.. with it's own esper wave... This thing is alive..'

'...'

'.... So..'

'... You're kidding me.. are you trying to say... You want us to deactivate this thing without 'killing' it? Are you INSANE?!'

'We can't go around killing intelligent beings! Besides, if it's truly self aware it will know important things about it's creators! We need that info... It's value is beyond our knowledge..'

'My job is to protect humans! People! Like those mind controlled ARES agents that are already gonna be hard enough to fight as is.. Not old software!'

'Who defines what 'people' is?! You? We have to act according to moral philosophy. This thing is just protecting itself like a cornered dog. Would you shoot a dog that just wanted to protect itself?'

'.... This isn't my decision.. You guys work it out amongst yourselves. I only have a bit of light left.. I'll work on taking out the ARES agents.. You team up with Liz from Athena to try and deactivate it.... However the boss sees fit. '

With that he moved into the room quickly. Retracting his tail shield from the others. He remained invisible but the others were now visible. He pointed his gun to the first agent, firing off a shot at his legs.

Liz gasped when she saw that much of the equipment was still running. And if Bai Ling was right, even so much as looking at any of the monitors would render any of them as mindless as the other corrupted personnel. With that, she covered her eyes.

That was when she realized something.

Guys, I don't know if you know this yet, but I have something that I can only describe as... the ability to talk to computers, she thought to the others. If looking at the monitors would render us under their mind control but nothing much else, then perhaps I can just talk to the computers to see what's going on! It's not the same as your ability to probe minds, Beaumont, so it really is just me verbally talking to the computer and them talking back. If I can just ask them what's going on, then I can determine if there's a way to stop this somehow... and maybe even see what this A.I. wants!

Of course, I realize the risk... but that's what Kanna is for. If I turn into Kanna, then you can be sure that whatever this thing is, it's got some kind of ulterior motive in mind and must be destroyed!

With that, she ran towards one of the tables where the one of the consoles were, hoping that Beaumont would at least restrain her in case something went horribly wrong and she would be unable to change into Kanna, and she just... sat next to the computer without looking at the monitor.
"Hey... you mind telling me what's going on?" Liz asked the computer in a whisper.

Yeah, it looked weird, but she really did have a knack for hearing the voices of computers, and it would hopefully give her an answer.
