"... Altered state of mind?" Liz asked. "Please tell me that's just a euphemism for 'getting high' and not something more serious like brainwashing. If the latter is the case, then perhaps a secondary mission plan would be to at least bring one of the victims back to base under quarantine and figure out what caused it..." To be honest though, she didn't like that idea much, even if it was probably necessary. If this was something like, say, a virus, then they'd have a shitstorm on their hands, not to mention a possible epidemic to deal with. |

Rule 63 is fun.

"So we could be up against our own guys? That's going to be a bit tricky..." Emilya mused to herself. It was mainly due to her own fighting style that caused this remark though. Regardless, she didn't show any signs of uneasiness to the whole thing. "Guess we just gotta hope it's not as bad as it sounds though, huh?" |

Otoki listened to the update intently without a twitch, as if the graveness of the situation went completely over his head. Slowly, he straightened up and walked over to the teleporter, not minding one bit whatever strange looks he would get from everybody else in the teleportation chamber. “Pray that it’s the case.” Otoki said gravely, stepping onto the teleportation device. “In the worse case scenario, we’ll have to kill them all one by one just to be sure; a mind altered Esper is a dangerous Esper after all. All we need is your word, commander.” |

“In the worse case scenario, we’ll have to kill them all one by one just to be sure; a mind altered Esper is a dangerous Esper after all. All we need is your word, commander.” Otoki said grimly as he stepped onto the teleportation device - the signal hasn't been given by the advance party for them to teleport yet, but knowing the GLADIUS veteran, Lavender knew he was always ready for action. "Guess we just gotta hope it's not as bad as it sounds though, huh?" Emilya added. "Well, as the old saying goes - we follow the standard procedures; hope for the best, prepare for the worst," Lavender replied, nodding as she checked her smart phone for the latest mission update. "The HERMES team has just located two survivors," Lavender looked up at the rest of the GLADIUS agents present at the teleportation chamber. "One of the researchers tried to attack our colleagues from HERMES and was subdued - the other offered the team some clues - she told us to watch out for their eyes - if you see them glowing red, it's a sign that they have been corrupted somehow," Lavender briefed the agents on the HERMES team's latest findings. The commander of GLADIUS raised her gloved right hand, gesturing for the technician to prepare the teleportation device for transmission. The nerdy, bespectacled young man in a lab coat nodded at Lavender's signal. "Aye, cap'n!" The technician raised his left thumb as he pressed a few buttons and flipped a few switches on the control panel. "Stay clear of the pylons, though!" A faint humming noise filled the chamber as the device came to life, a ring of blue light forming on the outer perimeter of the chamber. The pylons located on the outer rim of the ring-shaped teleportation device extended themselves, sparking intermittently - the teleportation device had finished its warm up sequence, and would be ready for transmission once the HERMES team readies the teleport beacon. |

Arutha observed what had just went on silently. He wasn't quite standing in the room, but he was within earshot. According to that strange email he got...THIS was to be initiation. Crap. Whatever happened to the easy stuff for initiation? Mind altered ESPers could prove to be quite troublesome for him after all, but, he signed up for this, he might as well see it through. "Got room for one more?" Arutha said, finally bothering to make himself known. "I was sent here for some initiation, so I guess I'm the new guy. The name's Arutha Kieria." Arutha said, his arms crossed across his chest. He also recognized Lavender as the teacher he had helped during the robbery, but she probably wouldn't recognize him unless she remembered his voice. He had a helmet on at the time after all. |

"Got room for one more?" A voice called out from the entrance as Arutha made his way into the teleportation chamber. Lavender nodded in acknowledgment at her student's arrival - she had known of him via the student files she had access to in the SEED institute, and similarly his records also existed in the GLADIUS database - although Lavender had no idea Arutha was one of the Espers who'd given her a hand back during the bank robbery. "I was sent here for some initiation, so I guess I'm the new guy. The name's Arutha Kieria." "Welcome on board, Arutha," Lavender greeted. "In case the adjutant hadn't gone through the mission briefing with you on your way here..." Lavender gave a brief recap on what she had briefed the other agents on, such as a run-down on the situation at hand, and what to expect during the mission. "It is through this mission where your performance will be assessed so that the higher-ups at the OASIS Foundation can decide which division in GLADIUS you are most suited for," the commander of GLADIUS concluded, folding her arms across her chest. |

'Sending in a fresh guy, eh? Is our manpower situation really that bad...?' Emilya couldn't help but wonder. Sure, it was an initiation thing, but it felt like a little much. Still, it seems there were getting ready to be sent in, all that was left was for the teleportation stuff to actually happen. |

"Salt mines?...I see. Understood." Arutha said. This would be kinda bad for his situation however, as mines normally meant the lack of light, and the lack of light meant a lack of his own power. He was still standing near a source of natural light, so he took the chance to check his prism necklace. There was enough a few small sized objects at once with what was in there, maybe a single large one. Either way, he was limited. Arutha checked outside a window as his eyes turned a glowing gold color along with some of his hair. Light then seemed to surround his clothes then faded as he activated a layer of photo armor so he wouldn't have to worry about it in the mines. "Well then, I'm in your care for now." Arutha said, nodding his head. Now was when the fiery red head had to cool it. It was his initiation for a organization he wanted to attend for quite awhile, and it was gonna be a mission that could earn himself his death if he screwed up. |

Otoki stood there in the teleportation device, waiting impatiently for the order to go was given. Just as he was getting ready for the general discomfort that comes with instant teleportation, a new arrival stalled it, and raised Otoki's displeasure at the slow pace this was taking to get a job underway. He remained silent as he watched the exchange between the recruit and the others, finding no pleasure in that they themselves doesn't seem to have any urgency to go on with this mission. That said, he was a bit surprised when the new recruit suddenly glowed without warning, reminding Otoki of something about to explode, which luckily, didn't happen. "Great, just what we need, a walking night light." Otoki said dryly and very much audibly. "Hurry up and get in here kid and don't waste any more time. We got a job to do." |

Arutha smirked at Otoki's comment. "You think I'm bright now, wait till ya see me at night old man." He responded just as audibly before walking to the teleporter. Teleporting...Once thought impossible like many other things, now very much possible by technology. He still would rather drive there though. He had never teleported before, but he got the feeling he wouldn't enjoy this. |

"Yo commander, we've got a signal from our field team!" The technician shouted as he looked up from the control terminal at the GLADIUS operatives - comprised mostly of ARES operatives - assembled inside the teleportation chamber. As soon as Johnson had activated the teleportat beacon, a crackling noise akin to arcs of electricity was heard as a swirling vortex of blue-white light appeared in the center of the teleportation device. "All right team, let's move!" Lavender gave the command as she looked over her shoulder at the rest of the team. "Follow my lead!" The commander of GLADIUS said as the vortex of light seemed to expand, growing brighter and larger until it seemed to engulf everything within the room - in a flash, Lavender and her team were gone, leaving behind an empty chamber and a humming noise as the teleportation device began its cooldown sequence..
