A chiming noise was heard as the elevator came to a stop, with the LCD panel showing the floor number and floor information. As the elevator doors opened, Lavender stepped forth into the main reception area of the GLADIUS headquarters, a laptop bag slung over her left shoulder. Several of the GLADIUS agents stopped at the sight of a familiar purple-haired figure, clad in a brown GLADIUS dress uniform, saluting to the presence of their commander. Nodding, Lavender returned their salute, gesturing them to be at ease before heading towards the reception counter. "Hey Lavender, glad to see you're finally back from Morocco," the receptionist chirped as Lavender approached. "So, how did your assignment go?" Lavender sighed. "You've probably read my report when I submitted it to The Director..." the purple-haired Esper stared into space for a few seconds. "Took one hell of a bloodying at the claws of those damned vamps." It was only a flesh wound, although it hurt nonetheless and even now still stung a little - it would probably take a few more days before the pain went away completely. "Anyway, you've got fifty-four e-mail messages awaiting you," The receptionist nodded as she scrutinized the list of GLADIUS agents with e-mail messages waiting for them. It didn't take a genius to figure out that a number of them came from Agent Johnson, who had been swamped by paperwork in Lavender's absence. "Thanks, I'll get to checking them when I'm in office," Lavender replied as she made her way past the security checkpoint, flashing her ID badge to the two ATHENA division guards stationed on duty. Without pausing, Lavender made her way down the main corridor of the first floor of the GLADIUS Headquarters, heading for the Command Center. Pushing open the oaken double doors, Lavender entered the Command Center - a circular auditorium-like chamber with a panoramic holographic projection screen used for mission briefings. The commander of GLADIUS got to work, plugging her notebook computer into the panorama display and readying the mission briefing files. It's only a matter of time before the GLADIUS Corps arrived to receive their mission briefing. Edited by Lawman, May 1 2009, 03:53 AM.

"... Looks like you've returned, Commander," a familiar female voice said as its source strode into the room. Eliza Scott always reported to GLADIUS meetings as herself, generally because there weren't that many Athena field agents. Not to mention that she was also going in for someone else, too. <Oh, a mission?> Seems like it. Too bad, Mii-chin, you couldn't go along with the rest of Hermes. <It's fine, Rizzu-chan. I'm sure Monty-senpai and Cypriss-senpai will do well on their own.> Work was work, and she knew how to differentiate between the two even when in Lavender's presence. It helped that Deku wasn't around to aggravate them, so she didn't act all jealous and angry around her this time. Still, the thought nagged at the back of her mind, even if it was just a little bit. "Artemis Agent, Eliza Scott, reporting for duty," Liz said as she gave a snappy salute. "So, what are we looking at here?" Edited by Pikachu_Fragger, Apr 30 2009, 09:46 PM.

"Oho, so this is our commander?" Emilya mused as she entered the briefing room. She looked a tad uncomfortable though, mostly due to being in her dress uniform. Being relatively new, she still wasn't used to wearing something like it all the time. "Emilya von Einzbern, reporting~!" she followed up with a salute, albeit a rather cheerful one. "So what's the scoop~?" she added as she took a seat already, not one for protocol it seemed but she was enthusiastic enough. |

Otoki walked into the command center soundlessly, surveying the room to see who was already here besides him, and found there were three other people already here besides Lavender. Two of the said agents that arrived before him are familiar to him; the silver haired girl who almost tried fishing with a possibly dangerous weapon and the blonde haired girl with split personalities. Once he was done with his quick survey, Otoki made for the seat in the last row, pretty much away from maybe everybody else in here. He works alone even when forced to group with his fellow agents, and it seems imperative that he point that out first before whatever mission that’s coming is up. So there he was, taking a seat and watches on intently while waiting for this briefing to start, all the while wondering in anticipation at what is he going to have to deal with this time. |

Lavender nodded as Emilya, Liz, Kira and Otoki entered the command center, acknowledging them with a salute upon catching sight of Emilya's salute, followed by gesturing for the team present to be at ease, smiling slightly. The GLADIUS commander gave them a few seconds to settle down before walking over to the desk on which her laptop was placed, opening the briefing files that had been sent over to her from the advance party that had already been sent out field, led by Achilles-sensei who was specially activated by The Director due to the urgency of the mission while Lavender was still in Morocco. Either way, she needed a while to catch up on what had happened within GLADIUS during her absence. The panoramic display flickered to life, displaying a map of the world's continents. "Well GLADIUS, here's the thing," Lavender spoke in a clear and serious tone as her emerald-green eyes scanned the hall. "About 24 hours ago, the OASIS Foundation lost all contact with their research team at Archaeological Site 42." A section of the map flashed in red, before a display window zoomed in on India and Pakistan, or more specifically, on a border region between the two nations. "Archaeological Site 42 was originally a salt mine in the region that has been in operation since the 90's. That was until two months ago when a new shaft was added to the mine, where the workers discovered relics that bore evidence on the existence of an ancient advanced civilization in the area... needless to say, the discovery sparked a cooperation program between the OASIS Foundation and the local authorities to begin an archaeological expedition in the mines," Lavender provided a brief history lesson as a series of photographs taken of various relics and excavations by the research team were displayed on the screen. "That was until 24 hours ago," Lavender continued. "When the research team failed to send in their daily report to the ALPHA Labs. And all subsequent attempts to contact the research team have failed." Lavender read through the reports written by the project coordinator at Site 42, sent on a daily basis to the ALPHA Labs at OASIS Complex, which Achilles himself had went through hours earlier. Lavender flashed pages of the reports on the screen as she addressed the team present. "As you can see, the mission proceeded normally until the last report which came in yesterday, and as no anomalous encounters were documented by the research team, we know not what has befallen the research team or their ATHENA division guards." There was a brief pause before Lavender continued, "Most disconcerting of all is that the team of ARES division operatives assigned to protect the research team have also disappeared, along with their lieutenant." A vanished research team is one thing, but to have a team of ARES division operatives - Espers trained specially for combat situations - vanish was another matter altogether. "A group of HERMES division operatives have been deployed to the site as an advance party to investigate what has happened at Site 42, and our role will be to provide them with backup should an all-out combat engagement become necessary," The photographs of Marina, Johnson, Cypriss and Beaumont appeared in another display window which imposed itself over the world map. "That being said, I want everyone suited up and on standby at the teleportation chamber within ten minutes," Lavender concluded her briefing before she closed the programs running on the laptop, as an ATHENA division operative in a GLADIUS dress uniform stepped forward to pack up the laptop and accessories. "I want it on my office desk in one piece." Lavender said to the ATHENA division operative who is now holding her laptop inside its carrying case. The young agent nodded as he left the command center. "GLADIUS, fall out!" Lavender announced as she left the command center, heading for the locker area to change into her GLADIUS field uniform. |

"Roger roger big boss~!" Emilya spoke as the orders were given. They were simple enough and there wasn't much to object about. Even if they were just going to be on standby, she didn't seem to mind as she quite literally jumped from her seat and began heading towards the changing rooms. After that, the waiting game would begin, she figured. |

"Need any help?" Asked Xuanmeng from a corner as Lavender on the way to the locker area. "I have a few tips for you, my lady." Smiled Xuanmeng. There is just too much planning left to be done. "Firstly, we need to know who is available for deployment, at what times." The very basic. |

So that’s what’s going on this time eh? Otoki thought inwardly, studying the map projected in the air. This was either going to be a rescue mission or an extermination one if there is something down there that’s causing all those disappearances. Otoki hoped very much that it would be more of the later though, feeling that if there is something that can wipe out a whole team of elite E’s users, then it is bound to be a threat that must be dealt with at once before it does more damage. Otoki stood up once the briefing was over and proceeded to leave the room and head on to the locker room where he would change into his combat uniform, not that it really matters whether how he is dressed when he goes on missions like this anyway; he always have one form to go in to do the offensive. |

Liz frowned at the mission briefing parameters. If even Ares personnel got neutralized somehow... <What are we going in as?> Myself, for now. I can help with regeneration, and given the people we have so far, namely Emilya and Otoki, we'll need a field medic of sorts. God knows what the hell Hermes is going to find down there when we get there, and if we do get summoned, support is most likely high on their list. <And I suppose I go in only if things really get out of hand?> Of course. With that, she ran to the nearby changing room where she could don her blue and gold GLADIUS uniform. |

As Lavender was making her way to the locker room, she found herself running into the adjutant of GLADIUS - Zhuge Xuanmeng - who was commonly known by her alias 'Mischievous Chaos'. "Need any help?" she asked, a reverent smile on her face. "I have a few tips for you, my lady." Lavender nodded as she continued on her way to the locker room, knowing that the adjutant would follow after her. "Firstly, we need to know who is available for deployment, at what times." Lavender sighed inwardly - did she miss out on the whole briefing earlier? "Anyway, I want you to take this," Lavender replied as she passed a PDA to Xuanmeng, inside it would be all the details that Achilles had briefed the advance party on, as well as the details of her briefing to the rest of the team at the command center, before heading over to her locker to change into her black field uniform, designed with comfort, protection from the elements and ease of movement in mind. "Teleportation device ready to transmit, commander!" The technician manning the device greeted as Lavender stepped into the teleportation chamber. Lavender nodded, gesturing for the technician to stand by - once they receive the signal from the advance party to confirm the activation of a teleport beacon, they would be ready for deployment to assist their comrades in the HERMES division. Lavender stood silent and thoughtful, eying the GLADIUS operatives present in the room. "Any questions?" Lavender asked as she glanced at her F74 smart phone to check for the latest updates from the HERMES team's investigations. Edited by Lawman, May 2 2009, 05:17 AM.

"Other then the obvious 'What the hell could make a whole team disappear', I got none." Emilya spoke up. She was now clad in the red uniform she wore for field work, arms crossed and currently leaning against a wall. "Well, I guess we'll find that out when we get there though." |

Otoki arrived after mostly everyone did, as usual it seems for today. He was wearing a simple dust khaki outfit and a combat vest with necessary gears strapped on. His sidearm was in a holster attached to his belt. And in his hand, was his nondescript black mobile phone of unknown make. He closed it immediately with a ghost of a smile on his face before looking up again while pocketing his phone in one of the vest pockets. Because he just came in and didn’t hear the question asked by Lavender, he stood back near a wall and waited. |

"Other then the obvious 'What the hell could make a whole team disappear', I got none," Emilya chipped in, now garbed in her red field uniform as she leaned against a nearby wall with her arms crossed. "Well, I guess we'll find that out when we get there though." Truth be told, even Lavender could feel a knot of uneasiness in the pit of her stomach, especially after learning that a detachment of ARES operatives, led by their lieutenant to boot, had lost contact with the organization along with the research team - now anything could have happened, although the worst possible scenario would be that the ARES agents had somehow defected... and considering her encounter a couple weeks back at the bank, that wouldn't come to her as a surprise. Lavender nodded, her eyes never leaving the screen of her smart phone as she awaited updates from the command outpost at Site 42. "The advance party has an update on the situation," Lavender said as she looked up to address the agents present - which to date encompassed Emilya, Liz, Otoki and Kira. "Something has happened at Site 42, and the research crew apparently had been fighting among themselves... they're still investigating the cause, but the likelihood of the research team being in an altered state of mind is very high." The commander of GLADIUS continued. As far as the update from Achilles went, there was still no report on what befell the ARES operatives or the project coordinator. |
