It had been awhile, she admitted, as she watched various trainees and recruits spar and test their abilities from the observation area. Marina wasn't a training officer, but she often came here to watch others. There weren't (to her knowledge at least) all that many times when full-scale training was conducted to the point instructors would actually use the observation area, and thus it was usually left open for visitors. Though she herself often trained alone, it didn't stop her from observing others to monitor their progress. She didn't spend all that much time on Nova Oasis anyway, usually being off on one assignment or other, or recovering from them. She wasn't really how long she had been standing there at that point, but she didn't care either. It's not as if she had anything else to do while waiting for word on her new housing arrangements - for what good it would do for someone who rarely spent any time there. |

"Enh.." Cypriss blinked looking at the girl across the room from him. He'd just climbed the stairs to one of his favorite places. The observation area where he could easily see the entire grounds. In the recent few months he'd been using this area to get pictures of various people using their powers and so form. It was a great location and better yet was that it was practically abandoned most of the time. Which meant no one mistook his 'completely pure' photography for a base lecherous action.. "Ah.. Sorry... I didn't realize anyone else was up here.." Well, there was certainly no reason to let this chance go to waste. It's not like she was in his way. He was particularly interested in her too, so this was a win/win for him from any conceivable standpoint. He reached into his pouch drawing out his camera and snapping a picture of the girl with a grin on his face. "Sorry! Sorry.." He waited as the film reloaded before approaching the edge and glancing down. "Last time I wasn't able to get many shots so I had to use this opportunity!" He said laughing. He glanced around, his eyes were decent so even withotu his scope at this distance he oculd narrow down the field of subjects. "Ahhh.. Some good assets were found~" He said cheerfully. Taking out a lens attachment and putting it on to the camera. |

![]() "What are you doing?" she had to ask, her expression carrying the tone of the question. She understood that this person was an oddball, but this is 1 of the few places where she was often alone, and didn't really expect anyone else to come there either. |

Cypriss felt a slight pain in his heart as she looked at him with that odd expression, as if he was being crushed by her thoughts, even if he had no idea what they were. It was a feeling not unlike being stepped on. Though he wasn't exactly sure how or why he felt that aura radiating from her. "Ehh..? Photography is my hobby so I'm taking pictures..." He said lightly. It was practically self explanatory. So he didn't feel like he really needed to explain it much. "I, too, am a solitary contemplative type! Up here observing them while pondering my own dark and mysterious past.." He said zooming the camera lens in on a girl who was extremely active in her training. "That or.. I'm just bored.. I'm not allowed to really train in the city.. It's really bothersome. Lots of pent up energy.." He said snapping several shots of various people. His ability to snap shots was actually somewhat impressive, even if his motivations and the subjects of his shots were both questionable. "What are YOU doing?" |

"I see." she said, not really believing his excuse, but dropping the subject anyway, and looking back to the training area. "Just watching I suppose. You realise it's usually not polite to snap a photo of someone out of the blue right?" |

"Ehh? Really..?" He said, sounding quite surprised. "I don't know.. No one has ever mentioned that before.." Which was a lie of course. He scratched his cheek nervously. "It seems like a nice thing to me.. Taking pictures of someone means they are someone you don't want to forget.. I think.. Hurm.. Besides, it's just a photo so what's the harm?" He said laughing a bit more at this. "I mean.. A photograph is just a physical memory... More accurate than our brain's.." "So what's the difference in photographing a person and remembering them? It's practically the same.." He said pointing to the roof as if this were some perfect infallible logic he has conceived. He glanced out the window, lowering the camera. "Watching them like this.. I wonder what your motivation is.." He looked to her. "Maybe you're just too shy to make friends?" He said offering a possible hypothesis, not a very solid one. As she didn't exactly seem shy. Just the solitary type in general, but it was more about changing the topic off of his pictures. Edited by Cypriss, Apr 30 2009, 04:31 PM.

"You'd be surprised, but I suppose that's almost a charming way to put it." Marina mused. "And I wouldn't say I'm shy really. There's just not really all that many people who are happy with me being here." She was referring of course, to her criminal record. Afterall, she started out as one of the very people this organisation was supposed to deal with, had fought them in the field, and after great trouble, was finally arrested. And yet, 5 years after, she ended up being drafted into the group due to lack of qualified personnel, and her observed behaviour while in incarceration. It was a crazy world, but nobody ever accused it of making sense. |

"I think maybe a lot of your problem with that is mostly self inflicted.. Call me crazy but it's not like you give off insane-o murderer vibes.." He said unscrewing the lens for a new one from his bag. "Everyone's got circumstances.. Some are just more complex than others.." He said shrugging his shoulders dismissively. "I think if you were less distant people would fear you less.." He glanced down as he searched for his new lens, also to avoid eye contact in case he was annoying her. "Maybe it's just idealistic to assume this but I feel like it's easy to be scared of someone who silently stalks in the background without ever saying anything.. It's much harder to irrationally fear someone you know.. But then it's probably going to be hard. It's not like they can just forget your past. It'd be a huge burden to change things.." He said looking through his camera at the group of training new recruits. "Who knows.. Maybe it's not even worth the effort.." He said taking a picture of them all training together... The new recruits.. "If it helps I don't particularly mistrust you." He said shrugging. "No more than anyone else in this army..No more than Johnson or.." He blinked, stopping himself in his tracks. "Well maybe a bit more than Monty!" |

She smirked. She couldn't help it really, it was honestly pretty funny in a way. "I did have reasons for what I did, so no, I'm not a lunatic. I think that's what scares people more really." she shrugged "Well, it doesn't matter much anyway. I usually get sent off alot, so I don't actually spend much time here really. It's been almost half a year since the last time." Her eyes continued to focus on simply watching the trainees movements, as if evaluating them like a proper instructor would during the more formal training sessions. |

"..." Reasons...? He wondered what they could have been. What could have motivated her at that time. And maybe if he knew her better... No.. Maybe if he wasn't ordered to do 'that' should she prove to be a risk he would have pried further. But knowing to much might mean he'd have to make a decision that he didn't like. And because of that he backed down rather than allowing his curiosity to rule him and turned his gaze away from her and towards the ground below. "I guess it really doesn't matter in the end..." He said planting his hands in his sides. He looked over towards her as she examined the training figures below. The way she watched them, he couldn't help bu feel like the distance between her and them was a waste. "Man.. If things had worked out differently you could be down their training them.. It seems like a waste to let an experienced agent collect dust here.. I mean rookies like me is one thing.. I'm still pretty green.. But if it weren't for your past you'd probably already be training these guys.." |

Marina shook her head "That's doubtful. I was never the one to teach other people. The only thing I could teach them is to get close enough for their attack to hit, then cut their enemy to pieces." she shrugged "I can't say I'm really much of an example to follow in anycase." She crossed her arms as she said so, continuing to observe. |

He looked at her a bit surprised by her comments. So even if things had gone another way she wouldn't teach them? So her existence as a spectator was sort of destined no matter what, then? And it's not like she was really fighting back against it or anything along that nature. "Uwahh... So you're that type! Kind of passive and submissive to those around you... Not really able to exert you're dominance.. I guess that makes you.." He scratched his chin trying to find the perfect phrase for it. He then turned grinning and pointing to the roof. "Ehh? So that's the 'Uke' type right..?"He said with a broad smile. "Can I call you big sis, then? I can't wait to meet little sister when you pick one~" He said laughing. |

"There's a difference between being proficient at something and being able to teach that proficiency to someone else." she said, looking mildly annoyed now "While it's true I'm more paramilitary than a proper intelligence officer, I'm different from most of them." She gestured towards the recruits "Their combat styles aren't the same, and since I rely mainly on swords, there's nothing much for me to teach the rear supporters either. I'm proficient with firearms, but I could hardly teach them the way a proper instructor with decades of experience could." She shrugged again "You could really just sum up my fighting as 'hit hard, and be good at it.'" |

'Eh... I struck a nerve there...' He thought bemusedly. Though in truth she raised many valid and well thought out arguments to explain why it was impossible. If that where all true it was possible she was just a really smart person who carefully considered her actions beforehand.. Which was kind of boring! Being impulsive was a good quality in women... People! A good quality in people.. "I.. I guess so.." He said stroking his chin. "I suppose that fits... You're a loner who doesn't seem to be able to get along with others due to various circumstances. So instead you focus that energy into your training and through that you excel. But somehow you still seem to have a good attitude.. You're not too gruff or disillusion with the world.. It's a miracle you're as nice as you are.. In the end I guess you've been saved from that path by someone already! That makes sense" He said nodding towards her. "If so I'd like to meet them! They must be pretty impressive!." He shifted to one side, standing asymmetrically leaning a bit away from her. "haha.. I wonder if that's like meeting the parents? Should I compliment them on raising oyu well if I meet them?" He said laughing. However at that moment he opened his eyes staring at the roof."... Hurm.. Somehow I seem to have wound up in a weird place with that train of thought.." ... A moment of awkward silence. There was no way that Cypriss could have known about her history, and she understood that much, but still, the feeling of nostalgia from before... ![]() "I don't have parents. Well, not in the real sense of the word. The woman who gave birth to me wasn't really my 'mother'. But..." she trailed off somewhat, and broke into a soft smile, a mild wind still blowing softly through her hair "It is true that I was saved once though. I couldn't say we met under the best of circumstances, but because I met that person, I was saved. I originally started as a sinner, but because I met that person, I have lived loyally for the past 10 years, trying to make up for what I did." |
