"Magical darkness is still darkness." It's over. These two did something not even I would dare to try given the conditions. They're either too stupid or too full of hatred towards the vampires too see clearly. I'm not yet sure whether they also ignored they were all waiting there or I was the only one who fell into their trap. Either way I have to say they're tough for having survived this. I turn around to look at them for a moment, wondering how they know who I am. I'm not really fond of speaking, but given the recent events I think it's suitable if only to try and make some sense out of what just happened. "I don't know who the hell you are. I don't know why you know my name. I just hope whatever it was you came here to do was well worth almost getting killed." I turn away once more as I hear the wolf utter some strangewords which can only be I don't know, beast language? I walk, my attention focused on the one last loose end, which I left there quite purposefully for last. Behind a layer of deep shadow in the back corner of the broken carriage, a thick patch of darkness concealing the very reason I boarded this dreaded train in the first place. I bend the darkness once again to fill the entire carriage, only this time it's nothing but a thin veil which barely filters the sun. As I release the pocket of darkness its occupant stares at me and the other two in horror. He falls to the floor screaming mercy as the thin shade is not enough to fully protect him from the sun. His skin burns slowly, boiling on the surface and leaving a trail of putrid fumes behind. "You dirty little shit. There are thousands of vampires in the world. Do you know why I went after you? DO YOU?" I kick the bastard in the face as he thrashes around. "You're so weak and cowardly you have to prey on children. That's sick even for your kind. I want you to understand that you have brought this upon yourself. I am your Nemesis." I won't dispel the curtain of shadow, that would kill him instantly, minimizing his suffering. No... I'll let him burn slowly and have a small taste of the pain he's cause others right before he dies. In the meantime, I turn and walk towards the strangers; it's time to find out what those two want. "Who are you?" |

"Guh..." Lavender groaned as she hunched over a little, her hand resting on where the vampires had sunk their nails into her flesh. While it was merely a superficial injury, it was a painful one nonetheless - and after the last of the Esper's adrenaline rush had died down the effects of her injuries were finally getting to her. Bloody and with her clothing in tatters, Lavender was quite a mess. "I don't know who the hell you are. I don't know why you know my name. I just hope whatever it was you came here to do was well worth almost getting killed." The shadowy figure spoke. Lavender looked at a patch of shadow that seemed to exist in defiance to natural laws - clearly the result of Nemesis' doing. The vigilante used his control over darkness and shadow once again, stretching out the patch of darkness such that instead of blocking out the sun completely, it is merely a region of gloom that filters out some sunlight, but still letting enough light in to cause the vampire to burn, albeit slowly. "You dirty little shit. There are thousands of vampires in the world. Do you know why I went after you? DO YOU?" Amid the roasting vampire's screams for mercy, Nemesis asked his question as he kicked the undead one in the face, apparently taking his time to let the vampire burn slowly instead of flash-frying him. "You're so weak and cowardly you have to prey on children. That's sick even for your kind. I want you to understand that you have brought this upon yourself. I am your Nemesis." Lavender cringed at the sight of the vampire slowly burning away - although she did nothing to intervene. Before long, Nemesis turned to face her and Terado to ask, "Who are you?" "The name's Lavender," The purple-haired Esper replied. "And I represent Project OASIS." He should have at least heard of the organization, she reckoned - unless one has been spending the last 40 years living deep in the Amazon rainforest or holed up practicing martial arts in some remote Tibetan monastery, they ought to have at least a rough idea of what the OASIS Foundation does. "The OASIS foundation would like to invite you to join Project OASIS - I think it would be of mutual benefit to us both," Lavender continued, awaiting Nemesis' response. |

Terado listened to Nemesis as his thin veil of shadow engulfed them, whoever this man or thing was, he was fulled with a sense for vengeful justice. Perhaps a grudge of some sort? Whatever his reason for seeking out this vampire, Terado didn’t need him anymore so he allowed Nemesis to have his way with him. Needless to say, he needed to leave now. It wouldn’t be too good for him if either of these individuals got a good look of him, even if he was in his lycanthrope form and under the cloak. When Nemesis enquired as to whom he and Lavender were, Terado remained silent, raising his hand and accumulating air around it. “I am but a hand that balances the worlds.” His arm shot out to the side, blasting a hole in the carriage. Looking back at Lavender for a moment, and then a slightly longer look at Nemesis, Terado ran towards the hole, diving through it and doing a break fall into the sand outside. He watched as the train went off. Feeling the desert morning heat touching his cloak’s shoulders. He turned to the west, knowing exactly where west was thanks to the sun. There was a cave there. One where he could gather some of his old supplies. Terado began to go off, reverting back to normal. He could also make sure that the elder was dead on the way… |

I have no idea what the wolf's words mean nor do I care. After all the strange things I've seen and even stranger people I've met there isn't much that surprises me and very little can spark my interest anymore. He jumps off the train... a smart thing to do. The girl however seems to have been looking for me all along. So she got into this mess just because he wanted to talk to me? That's so... stupid. "So you went through all that trouble just for that? You people are crazy." I move closer and take a good look at her. She handles a wound that would make any such girl like her fall to her knees crying in pain like it was nothing. That alone deserves some respect. But the fact that she went out looking for me on her own, with no backup of any sort makes me despise her organization even more than I already do. We're animals to them. "Listen, I have no interest whatsoever in having any contact with Oasis. I have avoided you long enough so the message should be clear. You people think you do good by 'studying' people's abilities, masking your intentions with so-called 'demographic studies' but all you want is to label us... like cattle before they're brought into the slaughterhouse." I walk away from her and out the door, into the passenger carriage. There were many victims and I'm sure at least a few will rise as undead tonight if I don't dispose of them. "Leave me the hell alone." I walk among the frightened passengers cutting off the corpses' heads one by one. When I'm finally done the train has just reached its destination. It is time for me to go, knowing well this won't be the last I hear from this girl. I watched her fight those beasts... she's not the kind to quit easily. Far from there, the tall figure of a dark-skinned vampire walked into the cool and dark interior of a small mosque. He had found refuge in the plains beyond Tangier, passing as a traveling priest, a Mullah in a long journey. He would rest there... feeding on the faithful until he'd recovered completely. Then he would search the entire world if he had to, but he would find them... all three of them... and kill them slowly one by one. Edited by Eiji, May 3 2009, 05:36 AM.

"Hey wait!" Lavender tried to speak to the cloaked stranger, but he merely leaped off the train before the Esper could say anything. "So you went through all that trouble just for that? You people are crazy." Nemesis said as he turned his attention towards Lavender. "Listen, I have no interest whatsoever in having any contact with Oasis. I have avoided you long enough so the message should be clear. You people think you do good by 'studying' people's abilities, masking your intentions with so-called 'demographic studies' but all you want is to label us... like cattle before they're brought into the slaughterhouse." Lavender was silent as Nemesis spoke, not knowing what to make of him - whether to admit he may have a point, or that he hasn't truly understood the mission of Project OASIS. But either way, it saddened her to hear such words being made against the OASIS Foundation - while she admitted that some of their methods can be heavy-handed at times, was it all not done in the name of creating a more peaceful world for people to live in? "Leave me the hell alone." Nemesis spoke as he moved into the passenger carriage, cutting off the heads of the passengers who had died at the claws of the vampires. As the train finally arrived at its destination the station at Tangier was swarming with police. In her current state, Lavender knew she couldn't possibly do anything to him, and could only watch as the vigilante slipped through her fingers. Moreover, if it wasn't for his intervention she wasn't even sure if she would still be alive by now, and it just didn't feel right trying to bring in someone who had in a sense saved her life. "You okay, commander?" A voice shook Lavender out of her daze. As the SEED instructor turned around, she found herself staring face to face at a man dressed in a black business suit, although a faint smile of relief formed on her face upon noticing the GLADIUS pin on the man's jacket collar. "I'm fine," Lavender replied as the agent removed his jacket and placed it over her shoulders, covering up his commander who was left rather exposed as a result of her earlier scuffle. "I wasn't able to get hold of him, though," she continued as she left the train together with the GLADIUS agent. It had been a wild goose chase, and the only thing Lavender could think of right now is to catch some rest and to get her wounds tended to. "Come on, let us get you to the nearest hospital," the agent said as he led Lavender away. |
