The night is cold and windy. Contrary to what most people think it is usually cold at this time and season in Morocco. The wind is just a side effect of standing on the roof of a moving train. He's in there somewhere, thinking he can fool me; thinking he lost me back in the city. In a couple of hours when he least expect it he'll receive a big surprise. He's put up quite a fight, I'll give him that. I've been following his stench for almost a week now and somehow the moment I'm about to get him the bastard manages to get away. A couple of nights ago when he finally made it to Casablanca all the way from Marrakesh he got careless thinking I couldn't have possibly followed him here. He looked surprised when I showed up in his hotel room. He wasn't alone... yet, his victim- a fourteen year-old girl whose blood had almost been drained completely out if her body- was about to leave this world. He got feisty, tried to put up a bad excuse of a fight before realizing how futile it was and decided to take the nearest escape route: jumping out a sixth story window. I know he was a beast but I wasn't counting on him flying down to the street. Not all vampires know how to fly after all and he'd never done it before. Then there was the matter of the dying girl. I had to make a choice fast and decided on saving the girl; in my line of work you rarely ever find the victim while she's still alive. I phased our bodies through town as quickly as I could knowing the beast had gotten away... for now. After dropping her in the emergency room I went back to his hotel room to pick up the trace. I searched the room up and down and found a couple of fake passports, some money and second girl in the bathtub; she'd been dead for almost a day. I followed his stench all through Casablanca until I finally caught up with him at the train station. It seems after our last brief encounter he's finally realized he can't avoid me unless he keeps moving, so now he's taken a train to Tangier, and I'm pretty damn sure he'll try running off to Gibraltar and from there to the rest of Europe. I hate to admit it but the bastard is smart; if he was to make it to Europe there's a decent chance of him actually losing me there at some point. He won't make it though, in just a couple of hours the sun will force him to stay inside the train, trapped in a caged and cornered like a helpless mouse waiting for the time the cat bites his head off. There's no escaping your Nemesis. In the meantime I'll stand on the train's roof, making sure I can see if he decides to jump of a window in the middle of nowhere a couple of hours before dawn. Highly unlikely, but you can never bee too cautious.

With only hours before dawn, most of the passengers in the train's passenger cabins are asleep, except for two particular passengers; seated towards the rear of an express-class passenger cabin was Lavender, dressed in a white business suit and a light purple shirt and black tie and a pair of violet-tinted glasses. The GLADIUS operative's disguise was active, hiding her elven features from view and giving her the appearance of a normal human. Several days ago, Lavender had received a tip-off from one of the OASIS Foundation's informants that the mysterious Esper known as 'Nemesis' had been operating in Morocco, apparently having currently set his eyes on a vampire that had been actively preying on innocents in the region. Both the vampire and the vigilante stalking him proved to be highly elusive, with Lavender nearly losing the vampire's trail as she followed what she figured was his escape path from Marrakesh to Casablanca, after almost being led into a dead end on more than one occasion. Still, Project OASIS had vested some degree of interest in this 'Nemesis', mostly due to the rather unusual ability he possesses to seemingly become one with the shadow - something which Project OASIS had yet to come across and would very much like to study in detail. However, Lavender was certain that as long as she kept on following the vampire, it would only be a matter of time before she caught sight of the one pursuing the vampire - having learned from the stories surrounding this elusive vigilante that once he sets his sights on a target Nemesis is known to hound is quarry to the ends of the earth and back. He's pretty smart, I see... Lavender thought as she peered up from reading a copy of the local newspaper - while she had taken a crash course in Arabic prior to being assigned this mission, it was really only enough for basic communication with the locals, and much of the text on the newspaper was pretty much alien to her. Taking a train from Casablanca to Tangier... I reckon he seeks to cross the Strait of Gibraltar into Europe... If the vampire were to make it to continental Europe, he might actually stand a chance of shaking Nemesis. For now, Lavender maintained a low profile, trying her best to keep her E'S Energy signatures suppressed as she discreetly observed the passenger seated towards the front of the cabin, the vampire that Nemesis had marked for death. If the vigilante foresaw the vampire's escape plans, she was certain that he would be hot on his tail even now, and it should only be a matter of time before the vigilante struck. The train car that this particular vampire was sitting in, was also inhabited by another individual. Needless to say that the passengers inside there with them were more than a little uneasy. The problem was they couldn't just move. Casablanca trains were generally almost always full, but at least not as badly as in India. One got to know these sorts of things if they travelled for long enough. His arabic was not half as decent as it used to be fifty years ago, but at least he managed to get things in order to find out where he needed to go. He'd been observing the Vampire community lately, getting back in touch with the Other community so to speak. It wasn't anything serious, but he needed to know the state of the world right now. For the most half, there were tensions between the Russian and European clans was high, with nothing too serious happening in regards to the American ones. The clans in Japan and China were too small to be bothered with. What was left, was to check the Arabian areas. Terado had been hearing several rumours of vampire activity being on a rise and wanted to see for himself. The man sitting across from him was needed for that purpose. He needed to know the strength of their numbers in this region and so far, this scummy brat was all he had found. Still it was better than nothing. However, he may encounter some problems. There were several odd smells drifting around the train and by that, they were smells that were laced with the pungent aroma of E energy. Apparantly he was not alone here, but what concerned him was who it was. A lot of Espers were after him these days and he couldn't be too careful. He was thankfull for his hooded cloak, it gave him a bit of unilimity, to say the least. The vampire was starting to glance at him from time to time. Had he sensed his pressence? Or was he worried about someone else? Terado settled it for being a possible combination of the two, although he couldn't say for certain yet. |

It's still pitch black outside but I can already feel the warmth of the sun approaching. It'll be half an hour or so before the first rays light up the sky and then some more before the sunlight reaches us. We'll be near the coast by then, that will narrow his options. I'm determined to stay here until the sun comes out, but there's this strange, uneasy feeling lingering in the air. The passengers are afraid, they can feel his presence. The tension is high and even though they don't know the reason for it the chills running down their spine are a sign of what's to come. I know some of them might not make it out of the train alive today, but if that's the case their lives won't be lost in vain. As I try to shut their fear and anxiety out I suddenly sense it. He's on the move. The bastard is either smarter or far more stupid than I thought. There's only a few minutes before dawn and if he does try to jump out of the train there's nowhere he can run to unless he was smart enough to have prepared something in advance... to have planned some sort of escape route foreseeing my pursuit. I need to act quickly. I originally wanted to wait until he was forced to hide away from everyone else and thus I could take care of him in private, risking as few lives as possible. But there's no time for that now. I leave the comfort of pure, cool air outside and walk the shadows into the inside of the train. It stinks. The lights are very few and very dim at least, which is both comfortable and practical for me. I follow his stench across the passenger cart. It's packed, but as they feel the characteristic chill my presence usually produces they quickly move away and I pass them by before they even see me. There's others here with me. I see them as I pass them by, sneaking within the deep shadows of the train's inside. Whoever they are and why they're here it's none of my business as long as they don't try to interfere. He's going slow, taking his time... which makes me think he's not really trying to run out but seeking a hiding place instead. That's good... ...it will make my kill the much easier. |

It won't be long before the first rays of dawn break over the horizon... Lavender thought as she pulled back the sleeve on her right arm to glance at her wrist watch. Although she was certain that she was the only Esper inside the passenger carriage, it appeared that the vampire's presence did not go entirely unnoticed as most of the passengers inside the crowded carriage seemed ill at ease, a sign of the innate E'S talent that lies hidden in the majority of humanity, an inborn sensitivity towards the supernatural. He's here? Lavender adjusted her tinted glasses as the vampire she had been eying all the while began to make his move, a sign which she interpreted as his pursuer, Nemesis, being somewhere near. Unfortunately, no reliable reports have ever been filed regarding the elusive vigilante's face, and given the crowd inside the passenger carriage, he - if that was an accurate assumption of the vigilante's gender - could easily be anyone. To add to the purple-haired Esper's dismay, Nemesis appears to produce no reaction whatsoever towards Mentor's Stone, meaning the traditional method of scanning for the strongest E'S potential in the vicinity wouldn't work, which was a clear sign that Nemesis' powers function in a way that is to date a mystery to the research teams at the OASIS Foundation. Which gave them all the more reason to get his cooperation in their future research in hopes of learning more about his unusual ability. "What am I thinking? I'm a smart girl, I think I've got it figured out..." Lavender said to herself under her breath as she reached into her jacket's left hip pocket, taking out the Mentor's Stone. Clasping the stone in her hand, Lavender scanned the occupants of the passenger carriage one at a time, taking note of the reaction produced by the stone, the light shining faintly through a gap between her fingers. Red glow, red glow, red glow... one after another the stone produced the typical reaction towards mainline humanity - a latent, unawakened E'S potential. The vampire elicited a yellow glow, until her hand pointed at the seat where Terado was, at which the point the glow faded away. "I've found you, Nemesis..." Lavender whispered to herself as she pocketed the mentor's stone. |

Terado watched silently as the vampired raised himself from his seat and began to move along the train. The possibility of him beng noticed was strong, but he needed to put up at least some sort of bluff to make it seem like he was not intentionally after the vampire. He'd watch him from a distance, before following him. With a scent as strong as his, it wouldn't be hard. However, Terado sensed something else. With all the other movement from the passengers standing in the train, he realize Nemesis' movements at all. But his gut feeling kept telling him he wasn't alone. Watching as the vampire moved to the end of the long carriage, Terado's eye quickly scanned the crowd. He knew his pressence was being felt by the passengers. He could smell their fear, pungent and dank. However, there was a more intentful noticing of him. Letting his eyes glance to where he suspected it might be coming from, he took quick notice of Lavender. There was something in her hand. It was faint, but Terado's eyes spotted it easily. A predator had to always be aware of its surroundings and hone in on necessary aspects of the environment. He couldn't say for sure if Lavender was a threat, more to the point he didn't have time. If he left the vampire alone for too long, he'd lose him. Terado slowly raised himself from his seat. He didn't turn his head, but took time to trace Lavender's smell. A light perfume, mixed with sweat brought about by the area's and train's climate. He be sure to remember it. If it got any closer, he'd know it. Terado turned calmly, his cloak brushing the train's floor as he began to follow the path the vampire had taken. He could barely see the bloodsucker, but that never mattered much. With a scent that pungeant he could follow him anywhere. Besides, his options of running are limited. When you have traveresed the globe so many times, you could feel the push and pull of the moon and sun. Terado's fist clenched beneath his cloak. He'd get the information he needed. Once this was done, he could begin searching for leads relating to a certian woman... |

He's at the end of the carriage now, standing right next to the door that leads to the cargo carriage; no doubt he will try to go in there and hide from the sun. As I approach him I become aware of two things: first, his stench has become terribly strong... to the point of being nauseating; I don't know the reason for this, but he's giving out the stench of a much older beast of his kind. The second thing is the others behind me; they're either following me somehow, or as it turns out I'm not the only one after the vampire. I can't feel their eyes on me so it must be the latter. As I'm slightly distracted by them I'm too slow to react in time before he moves. He is too fast for human eyes to notice, especially in such darkness, and as such in the blink of an eye he's already knocked the already-sleeping guard out, stolen the key and opened the door to the other carriage, where he'll be safe from sunlight... but not from the dark. The moment he opens the door and slides in I'm hit with a thousand cries from his victims. I hold my head while I try not to drop to the floor, weakened by the pain. I don't understand this. Has he been fooling me all this time? Pretending to be weak just to try and pass unnoticed? It doesn't make sense then, for he could have put up a real fight back at his hotel room instead of running away. Either way I'll find out soon enough. His stench is choking me, but I pull myself together and walk the shadows towards the door... Edited by Eiji, Apr 23 2009, 01:20 AM.

About time he made a move... Lavender thought as the vampire left his seat in the passenger carriage, moving towards its exit. As the vampire made his move, so too did the cloaked stranger, Terado, whom Lavender had suspected was the mysterious vigilante she had been tasked to track down - Nemesis. "Give way please, coming through," Lavender spoke in her half-baked Arabic as she pushed her way past the sea of bodies, following in the wake of Terado towards the front end of the the passenger carriage. Exiting the passenger carriage, the purple-haired Esper soon found that the carriage in front was a cargo carriage - with the sun's ray nearly over the horizon, this would be the bloodsucker's best refuge from the sun. In the darkness of the cargo carriage, Lavender nearly yelped in surprise as her foot caught against something, nearly tripping her over - although her training kicked in and the SEED instructor stayed silent lest she gave her position away. Bending down to inspect what she just ran into, Lavender discovered it was a security guard. A brief examination confirmed that the man was rendered unconscious - although that was all she could afford to know at the moment, having more pressing matters to deal with. Taking off her tinted glasses and pocketing them, Lavender moved cautiously through the cargo carriage, staying on the alert for the vampire or Nemesis - while she knew that the latter shared a common quarry, one thing she wouldn't bet on is having a friendly encounter with the vigilante. |

Terado followed the vampire quickly, battling to keep up with him, surely no he'd been noticed. However, that wasn't his only concern. The girl's scent from before, had not gotten weaker. Even mingled with all the sweat in the train, it should have vanished if he had gotten far enough from it. But it hadn't at all. No sense in pacing things anymore. If he was being followed that meant someone was most likely trying to capture or kill him and Terado hadn't live this long to die in some backwater train car. Entering before Lavender, he ignored the guard that had been knocked out and let himself be drawn into the darkness of the cargo carriage. It was quiet inside, the dankness made the air heavy with moisture. Despite his enhanced sight, Terado could not deny that a vampire's eyes bested a werewolves in any kind of darkness. However, he had two more things going for him that his pursuee. Dropping into a low stance behind several crates, Terado felt safe enough to perform what he needed to do. The blackness of his cloak reassured him somewhat, but it would take a maximum of 7 seconds for anyone with enough experience to notice its odd shape, assuming they could see in the dark that is. Terado was grateful for the conservativeness of this power he had been granted. No extraordinary displays of power or blinding light. Merely a simply marking that appeared silently as the power within his totem awakened. Beneath his coat, thick white lines began to appear over Terado's biceps, shoulders, pectorals and just below his eyes. Slowly, the power of wind became awakened within him. With the air inside the carriage being so heavy and damp, movement of any kind would be able to be felt much more easily. Terado began to feel th air inside the carriage, closing his mind and creating a visual representation of it in his mind. He felt his pursuers disturbance in the air all to easily due to her movement. All he needed to was remain tense and ready, so that he could spring out and corner the vampire to get the information he required, while avoiding Lavender until it was necessary. Terado was in about the middle section of the car, on the right if someone faced from the door they'd all entered from. Where are you... thought the Sentinel. |

They followed him in, those two. If I didn't know better I'd say they're after me... but they don't stink the way the beast does. The carriage is large and has no back door. He's trapped. As I begin to move in however the door suddenly slams shut and someone turns on the lights. I retreat into the shadows again momentarily, then I hear his voice... no, it's not him but someone else. "And so, you thought preying on our kind would be that easy. Foolish... very foolish thing to do." From behind the closed door, cargo crates, luggage and all the different junk laying around the carriage several of them step out. My mark is hiding behind a tall, muscular one; the one the voice belongs to. I was fooled... walked right into his trap. He is no better or more powerful than I originally thought, he's just a coward who called in for help from those in his clan who are stronger than him. The stench, the cries, the sins... they weren't just his. The other two are surrounded. Like me, they had no idea what they were walking into. In this sort of situation I would usually pull out and wait for a more favorable situation... but there are eight of them, which means these two, whoever they are, will be butchered. "Come out now, there's no use in hiding. The more you resist the more painful it will be." The man speaks perfect English even though his skin is dark and he's dressed like a true Moroccan. My kill still stands slightly behind him, his white skin and long, black hair make him the perfect cliche for a beast of his kind, but he's nothing but a joke in comparison with the speaker. I don't know what those two will do intend to do now, but I can't just leave them. Nor can I leave the rest of the train to become food for the beasts. It seems both parties are still unaware of my presence. I move slowly, taking advantage of the situation to pass unnoticed. The shadows abound here, making it easy to prepare my move. "Nnnn!" Lavender grunted as the lights inside the carriage suddenly came on - her eyes, having adjusted themselves to the darkness found the sudden illumination rather glaring and swiftly raised her hand over her face, taking a few seconds for her eyes to adjust themselves to the now lighted-up surroundings. Although before she could see clearly again Lavender could make out the sounds of the door from which she entered the carriage being closed. Looking around, she could see the black cloaked stranger from earlier - Nemesis, (or so she thought) as well as the vampire both she and Nemesis had been tracking down. But said vampire wasn't alone... "And so, you thought preying on our kind would be that easy. Foolish... very foolish thing to do," a tall and muscular man with a dark complexion stood before Lavender, dressed in native Moroccan garb. Despite his appearance, the man spoke perfect English. Although it was clear to Lavender that this man was no human, being another lord of the night - albeit a good deal more powerful than the one she had been tracking until now. As the master vampire spoke, Lavender noticed that there were another six vampires present in the carriage, making a total number of eight. Lavender maintained her expression of defiance, a wry smile upon her lips betraying her nervousness beneath her calm exterior - she had battled vampires before, after all, and had come out victorious; but this is the first time she had faced so many at one time, and led by an elder. "Come out now, there's no use in hiding. The more you resist the more painful it will be," the elder vampire spoke, hinting that she and Terado weren't the only ones present. But it couldn't be, can it? Wasn't Nemesis right here with her? But either way, if they're thinking of either feeding on her or turning her, she sure as hell wouldn't go down without one hell of a fight. "Do your worst, bloodsucker," Lavender replied calmly as she discarded her disguise, her form shimmering and flickering before revealing her true form - an elfin-looking girl with green eyes and long purple hair, tied back in a ponytail by a yellow hair ribbon. A breeze blew through the cargo carriage as Lavender levitated a few inches off the ground, faint violet trails of energy swirling about her intermittently as she stared down the vampires. |

It took only a moment for Terado to realize the sitution, but even then it was too late. There were six, no, eight of them! Then the lights came on. Terado didn't blink, but narrowed his eyes to adjust to the light. He could sense two, possibly three of them right in his vicinity, but he couldn't be accurate, his mind was already racing ahead thinking about how to approach the matter. He'd gotten that girl uneccessarily involved, even if it was her choice to follow him. She had no part in this. However, at least he had found a branch of the Moroccan clan. This would save him a great deal of work if he could keep one of them alive. Terado glanced at Lavender under his hood. Watching as she revealed her powers. And elf? Or at the very least someone who looked it. Right now, it would appear the two of them were forced to be allies, but what would happen afterwards was uncertain. "Such glamour, for such filth? Young lady you are to generous to these degenerates." Terado slowly morphed some of his features, making him appear in a stage between that of a human and a werewolf. He couldn't afford to reveal who he truely was, so he'd have to settle for a commoner. It was rare for a lycanthrope these days to appear with the ferousity of one of their ancestors. And an elder vampire surely would have enough knowledge to recognise an ancient breed like Terado. "Gentlemen, you've saved me the trouble of interogating your comrade. Pray you're the one I decide to spare." Terado then unleashed a torrent of air, with enough force to push all the cargo near him away and careening towards the walls. The eagle totem shrieked loudly as it was activated offensively, just as Terado made his way to the closest vampire, aiming to slice its head off with kaneryuu. |

The two strangers come out from their hiding spots and challenge the clan. Most people would know better than to do that, but you never know how people might surprise you sometimes. The male strikes with a blade first, too simple an attack for such a complex opponent. It's no surprise to see the beast move effortlessly away, a mere blur to the normal eye and stand behind the attacking male before he even pulls his arm back from the strike. Vampires are a tricky lot. As I'm about to step in something stops me. There's noise coming from behind the closed door. Voices of people. Screams. I've been so foolish thinking I had passed unnoticed right before their noses when even I wasn't able to spot them in my obsessive pursuit of that one beast! They were there all along... Their leader smirks as the noise is heard, knowing his plan worked. This isn't about feeding anymore, it's their revenge; they want to teach me a lesson. "Ah! But our prayers won't be heard under the other hundreds of voices overpowering them, pleading for mercy, praying to God for a miracle!" I have no choice. They both seem stupidly over-confident, as if they could just deal with all eight beasts at once without breaking a sweat. Well they'd better be able to if they are to live, for I'm leaving them to fight on their own. The door isn't only locked, but also guarded by two of them. Luckily for the passengers I don't ever use them. As I phase out, the last image I see in the cargo compartment is that of four vampires lunging at the strangers while the leader and the coward look on. The moment I step into the other carriage I'm sick to my stomach. The rest of the clan feasts on the passengers with no regard for their prey's lives. It's carnage. the walls, the floor, the ceiling... they're all painted red with the blood of the innocent. I can't contain my rage... As I glide down the passenger carriage the shadows unravel and I stand before my enemies. One by one at first I kill them, slicing their limbs one by one, then their bodies, then their heads. It's not enough to satisfy me. The darkness unfolds as I call upon it to punish their sins... permeating everything and everyone in the train's passenger carriages.... grabbing and tearing at each one of the beasts' bodies without them even knowing what's happening. The people scream... their voices echo in my head, pounding at my brain every second. Their pain is my pain... I must put a stop to it, I have to make it stop! I pierce with a sharp spear of pure darkness at the dead hearts of my victims before I slice their heads off. Five, ten, twenty... twenty-one fall. And in the short period of time that took me to get there forty-three innocents already lay dead on the floor. The bastard... he set me up... he used me to kill them... he knew he could get to me that way... damned him, damned them all! I rush back towards the cargo carriage, almost sure the beasts have already done away with their pursuers, given they're much stronger than the ones I just took care of; but even if that's true, there's no getting away from me. Looks like they're better than I thought... Lavender thought as Terado lunged towards the vampire closest to him with a short sword in his hand, ready to make a decapitating strike, only to have the bloodsucker evade his attack without much difficulty, and moving behind him in a motion that seemed like a blur to the untrained eye. "What was that?" Lavender asked as she heard noises from the carriage behind the one she is currently in - while muffled by the closed door, there was no mistaking the noise - they were screams, coming from the train passengers. "I'll get you for this!" The SEED instructor shouted angrily as she straightened out the fingers of her right hand in a hand blade pose. "Saber Gust!" Lavender shouted as she slashed her hand upwards, directing a blade of energized air to blast through the roof of the carriage - a tactical maneuver given that dawn was fast approaching - if not already here. A crescent-shaped wave of energy blasted through the ceiling, ready to send in dawn's light to burn these undead abominations! Edited by Lawman, Apr 27 2009, 02:38 PM.

Hmm, this neonate fights well... thought Terado as his attack was evaded with relative ease. Well no matter, if he wanted to fight close range, Terado was fine with that. However, as Terado's body begins to move in counter-step, he hears the cries and screams of the victiims from the train carriage. Terado had to clench his teeth behind his lips, resisting the urge to rush in and save them. His fury, was instead channelled throughout his body, to activate his full werewolf form. His body turned, to push the vampire's strike from behind aside, before sending his now clawed hand to rip out his opponents heart while his sword made a thrust to pierce his one leg. His speed had grown signifigantly and by all means, surpass the vampires. However, he had a hthird trump card that he had yet to reveal to them all. That girl had the right idea about letting sun it, but it wasn't going to be enough. Although Terado had yet to refine the wind cutting techniques, he had enough power to perform one that was not channled in any one direction. He roared loudly, sending out much small blade of wind out in all directions from his person, to cut small slits in the roof and side of the carrigage. More to the point, the vampire would get hit several times if he stayed within such close proximity. "Your kind haven't changed in the last thousand years! That much is certain!" roared Terado angrily. |
