This short thread will show how RISK is used with the F/M system for engagements in battles.

Short Example Begins.

The Test Fleet of the Generic Republic flung itself into the outer reaches of the Sephioth System, where it sought to test its mettle against the fearsome Guardian Alliance fleet stationed there. The five gathered 404-class Frigates slowly encroached into Sephioth until they had breached the Guardian fleet's maximum radar range.

404-class: 1,600F/320M each
(Total: 8,000F/1,600M)

The five gathered 404-class Frigates slowly encroached into Sephioth until they had breached the Guardian fleet's maximum radar range. The fight was to begin shortly.

404-class: 1,600F/320M each
(Total: 8,000F/1,600M)

911-class: 1,600F/120M each
(Total: 16,000F/1,200M)

The Guardian fleet of ten 911-class Frigates reacted quickly, turning to face the Test Fleet with their chemical thrusters. Grand Admiral Selkath quickly ordered the first of the Frigates to open fire upon their Test Fleet counterparts with their electric lasers, hoping that all of the calculations were right so the lasers did not miss at this extreme distance. The fight was on.

(Dice rolls for laser hitting/missing:
Guardian has higher Fight - 1 extra die
Test has higher Manuverability - 1 extra die
Guardian gets 3 dice: rolls a 3, 5, 4)

Test: 6, 5, 2 / Guardian: 5, 4, 3

Test's 6 beats Guardian's 5. Test wins engagement, and inflicts 360F of damage on Guardian!)

The lasers were indeed fired too far out, and as the Test Fleet fired their own lasers they noticed the Guardian fleet's laser fire missing by mere feet. The Test Fleet ships were more accurate, having more time to calculate firing lines, and successfully blew a small hole through a Guardian 911-class. The debris went tumbling forward from momentum. The battle raged on.

Short Example Ends.

As one can see, the RISK and F/M systems are not that hard. Simply use the Random.org dice roller to generate a roll from three dice, post them, and wait for your opponent to do the same. Chance, just as in real life, will determine some of your battle.
