HDMI has been a major component in changing the way we watch television and movies, and now it’s going even further. HDMI 1.4 has been officially announced with many positive additions to the ‘miracle cable’. HDMI 1.4 will add support for Ethernet connection, audio return, 4K and 2K playback, and 3D picture. There will also be a mini HDMI connection (about half the size) that will allow more options for portable and smaller devices. Along with all the positive does come one major negative. For the first time, and HDMI cable is no longer just an HDMI cable. There will be a variety of different HDMI cables, each doing at least one of the new features listed above meaning more money spent by the consumer. You can check out all the details by clicking here. |

What we are letting happen is allowing our HT equipment to be computerized. In computer circles the ports and specs are changing almost every year. Its creeping. Stop Windows from ruining the smooth simple operation of our devices ! lol |

Somehow I get the feeling companies like Monster were involved in all the differing types of cables instead of just making all HDMI 1.4 cables do everything. |

That, or unless (in addition to) they make an adapter for those that have a 1.3 connection. Just like those adapters that one convert DVI to HDMI. That would also work. Of course everyone would make more money if people just bought new components. Fuck.
