HDMI has been a major component in changing the way we watch television and movies, and now it’s going even further. HDMI 1.4 has been officially announced with many positive additions to the ‘miracle cable’. HDMI 1.4 will add support for Ethernet connection, audio return, 4K and 2K playback, and 3D picture. There will also be a mini HDMI connection (about half the size) that will allow more options for portable and smaller devices. Along with all the positive does come one major negative. For the first time, and HDMI cable is no longer just an HDMI cable. There will be a variety of different HDMI cables, each doing at least one of the new features listed above meaning more money spent by the consumer.
