Treatment towards other members We all want to be treated with respect and here on Primal Instinct we want all of our members to feel respected, comfortable, and safe. Please refrain from using coarse or vulgar language to other members, as it can be offensive to others or the person that the message is directed to. It is also important that we restrict any type of racism or sexism, this is highly prohibited and will not be accepted here. All people are equal and should be treated equally. As long as something is living and has feelings, you should learn to respect them. It is also crucial, like mention earlier, to keep our members feeling comfortable and safe. Do not ask for any person information! This is not a dating or social network, do that on Facebook or MySpace! Any member found committing any of the actions above will be banned temporarily. If the user is consistent with the actions, it will result in a permanent ban! Posting a reply/RPG It is crucial to keep that RPG element on this website, so when typing in the RPG topics please be descriptive as possible. Avoid using bland, uninteresting, and vague sentences like, "The carnotaurus jumped on the apatosaurus and killed it." Use more descriptive and "mind-coloring" phrases like, "The carnotaurus leapt onto the apatosaurus, landing on its thick, yet slick back. It bit deep into the sauropod's neck, with its teeth sinking into the reptile's hard leather skin. The taste of copper soon tantilized its tongue and within a few minutes, the huge behemoth fell cold to the floor." Try to be as descriptive as possible and yes that means you can be gory as possible as well! As far as perspectives are, I'm not really too picky about it. You can choose to write from third-person or first-person perspective, but I recommend using third-person since that is most commonly used. Try to avoid talking out-of-character while RPGing. If you have to talk OOC (out-of-character), you are free to use the Out-of-Character Discussion forum. However, if you find it inconvenient you are allowed to talk OOC during RPG by putting a little asterik (*), quotation marks, or any other symbol to indicate that you are typing in OOC, but DO NOT keep this action consistent! Only ocassionally do it! ALSO!!! Please post your dinosaur profile in the Nesting Grounds forum. Be sure to use the given template below: Gender: Dinosaur Species: Name: Current Age: Weight (in tons): Length (in feet): Height (in feet): Description: You can add more to the template. Dinosaur Deaths Ocassionally, players get tired of their dinosaurs and want to "dispose" of them. As a result, some dinosaurs are either given away or users usually incur death upon their own dinosaurs. This is allowed, but only the owner of that dinosaur can choose whether or not he/she wants his dinosaur to live or not. Please do note that you are allowed to attack other member's dinosaurs, but you are not allowed to KILL them. The only exception to this rule is if the owner of that dinosaur allows you to do so. Dinosaurs, Time Period, Etc. Our goal here is to be realistic as possible, but when it comes to the dinosaurs and their corresponding time periods, we don't take that into consideration. We want all users to have freedom and we will allow the members to pick ANY TYPE of dinosaur they wish to play as, whether it be an allosaurus from the Jurassic period or a tyrannosaur from the Cretaceous period. We want variety in an RPG, after all that's what keeps it thriving and alive right? If you wish to participate in a more realistic RPG where all the dinosaurs correspond to their time periods, this isn't the RPG for you, sorry! Have fun! Forum-based RPGs aren't as popular as MMOs or the text-based MMOs, but we do hope that for all of you forum-based RPG fans, Primal Instinct will become a favorite. If it isn't, we at least hope that you have fun here! Alright, we get all that other crap, but what about the story? Is there a background story to this RPG? Sadly, no. Primal Instinct is a game where dinosaurs from all different time periods live and flourish together. I'm not sure about you, but it's going to be difficult for me to come up with a story to back up that concept. There is always the classic "dinosaurs were resurructed from DNA and now gone outta control" prologue, but that's been overused. Plus I want to avoid some criticism since that type of story is pretty much similar to Jurassic Park. |
