It's week-end so I indulge in some small scenery making. I bought these a while ago, don't remember the shop but it was in the 'floral decoration' department. Cheap dried out plant material to make a 'pot pourri' ![]() ![]() Hot glued these together with some of the alien plant experiments I made with the caulk when making my PA battle mat, these are the brown parts. The black alien plants are made out of hot glue experiments and the black trees in the back are some early experimenting making trees out of iron wire and glued tissue paper finished with a thick layer of paint. ![]() The giant tree, partly visible on the right, is a long time running project, now and then I work some on it. ![]() For the moment the primer paint is drying, think I'll paint them with some of my home made washes. Until then, ciao ! |

Looks good. The dry colours reflect the wastelands nicely. That said crazy bright paint may suit a alien world. |

They look great! I'd love to see more pics of that tree... I keep toying with the idea of growing a bonsai gaming board, but I don't think it would be the most practical! |

@ E O: yeah temptation to horde about everything when you are a terrain builder. @M B G: I choose to work with glaze/washes so I could use bold colors here and there and still keep the natural details. I did start of by dry-brush everything light grey on a Matt Black primer @ F M C: Here they are... I forgot why I started this thing... Judging by it's shape it looks as if a tree-house is supposed to come on it cause the branches make a flat top. I also forgot how it is made. I think maybe wrapped some iron wires around a stick, twisting them, then covered it in hot glue (put some real wooden details on it) added paint then I experimented some by adding sisal fibers mixed with wood glue to get the texture of the bark and now there is to much rope texture so at some point I'll have to smear some glue/sand/paint filler on it... Oh yeah most recently I hot-glued some of the white twisted roots I found in the 'pot pourri' to it. And on your bonsai idea, that would surely be the most labour intensive scenery piece ever ! I did see them once in a plastic version... ![]() ![]() ![]() I did however make some nice and rather robust trees with the sisal mixed with wood glue technique. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
