bulldozer conversion to steam tank; changing Dickie

Jow,

I want to convert this Dickie bulldozer I bought in the thrift shop some days ago.
But doubting which 'steampunk' version to build...

The first one is the weirdest, I think, a mixture of medieval and futuristic.

The second one western.

What do you think ?

The first just looks like a bunch of parts. The Western one has a great theme and looks better to me.

Thanks for the feed-back gents !

I agree, based on the foto, the first one seems without definite/clear form.
Of course this is just 'a sketch' simply stacking the parts, nothing is cut into shape yet.
The parts of the first piece just don't seem to work together. The theme is also complicated: medieval + sci-fi + steampunk.
However... I have details, medieval emblems (not in the foto) such as lions and flags, that could help to 'pull things together'.

The second design tells the story clearer. Steam(punk) and western seems an almost obvious choice.

And that is exactly why I am tempted to try the other...

Anyway, no time to start building, so maybe time will tell...

Maybe it got something to do with what they call 'reversed psychology'.
Your wife comes up to you and asks, which one shall I wear ? The blue or the red dress ?
I answer the blue one, subsequently my wife puts on the red dress.
Guess I'm also a bit like that (not that I wear blue or red dresses, well... not any more...) I mean give me the advice to do blue, I will do red.
So it became the first option after all. The medieval sci-fi steam punk tank.
Afterwards I thought maybe best because I don' have anything in 'Western genre' in my scenery.
Au contraire I used many parts I used before in other builds (the chest piece of a plastic robot, the plastic candle holders (also used for entrance gate in my Mordheim grave yard, the skull casted in hot glue gun glue, used them in about every scenery piece I ever made. So maybe it will fit better with the rest.
Still stays a strange duckling.

There was no stone structure on the inside of the tower so I tried to 'engrave' some with a hot needle, forgot to sand down the lines, ... to late now, as I write the piece is already primed Matt black.
The 'bolds' on top of the tank are actually very small scaled canons (the boat I converted for my Mordheim earlier)

My dog is a bitch in heat so she is very ...euhm...edgy, for the moment.
In an un-garded moment she was chewing on the piece used at the front 'bumper'.
So now this piece got some 'battle damage'.

Forgot to embellish the back... used the front hood of a plastic jeep to make a hatch.

What will it burn ? I found this coal wagon that can be hooked on and off.
I wanted to fit in some skeleton parts amongst the coal but can't find the skeleton mould, maybe later ? (not)

I'm contented, how do you think it turned out ?

The only paint that is on it for the moment is Matt black

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention. I had planed on making some new moulds of medieval heraldic symbols such as lion, castle etc... but these moulds did not work out. I made the dough to thick (not enough silicone) so they did not take detail enough.
So no lions, but, again, skulls.

Hail to the can !

So this is it, painted and all.
I used similar colors to res rest of my scenery, so no gold but again copper.

After seeing these foto's I put on an other layer of highlights.

The tower fits 2 mini's. The inside of the tower where I wanted to scratch in the stone work did not turn out so well. The tower was already glued in place so I could not easily reach inside to 'draw/melt' the lines, also forgot to sand them down. Anyway a detail when you look at it in real life.

Nice vehicle. Good work. The copper works well and gives it the vsf feel.

@bobscene :lol: :lol:

VSF = Victorian Science Fiction/Fantasy. It tends to apply to anything by the authors of that era such as Jules Vern. Technically Frankenstien is a Victoria Sci Fi novel, with a horror slant.

VSF also covers steampunk.

Think of Wells' book "War of the Worlds", and Verne's "40,000 Leagues Under the Sea." The comicbook and movie "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen."
