Yep, me again... I'm sick (flue) home from work, getting bored so went looking for an 'easy project'. I scraped some of the casts I have left over together. Most of my hot glue builds are Mordheim, so old fashioned type of buildings/molds. http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/t8592-mordheim-terrain-by-bobscene But when making my 'dystopian suit' I made some molds of 'contemporary architectural elements' s.a. brick walls, windows, doors. http://s1.zetaboards.com/Post_Apoc_Wargames/topic/8135004/3/#new i had enough left-overs, not for a complete house, but for a ruin, yes. Since the pieces where already sculpted and molded building did not take long at all, half an hour or so. First I thought to ad some shanty building to it, as if somebody builded his shack onto the ruin, but doubting now... What do you think ? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Darn probably posted in the wrong section again..(?) Edited by Bobscene, Feb 9 2018, 05:52 PM.

Decided cause primed already of course I took the easy solution, the ruin without a shack. Matt black is gone long live grey primer ! ![]() On the side, a couple of days ago I was walking the dog and found a broken broom next to the road. I took it home explaining to my wife I only took the smallest bit and let the rest be. Cause it was broken some of the 'hair bundles' (the rigid plastic type) got loose. I glued 2 of the bundles down on a piece of cardboard and melted one, gently with a lighter, into shape. If you ever should need a lot of weird looking plants, go walk your dog ! |

Well, you didn't but it would be entirely appropriate. I meant to post at some length on this subject a while back, before my mojo did a runner. Bits of standing architecture get re-used over and over again, not necessarily just after the apocalypse. Going back to the Roman period (one of my favorites) at Housesteads fort some later "Chalet" type barracks had a common back wall, that of an earlier pattern barrack block. The South Gate was incorporated into a late medieval defensible farmhouse. Along the north-east coast the foundations of some signal stations have been excavated and it was thought these were unique to the area; however, one has recently been identified in the Channel Isles. The Nunnery on Alderney wasn't accepted as Roman earlier because unlike the others the outer walls are still standing several metres high, and it's being doing duty as a fortification until as recently as WW2! (So has Pevensey.) Although they've now been exposed and made a feature of the city, until the 1980s much of the surviving city walls of Newcastle were obscured by later buildings built up to their front face (there was a narrow alley to their back). On the Continent I believe parts of many ancient fortifications form parts of buildings still lived in; I believe there is a small dwelling (a bit to well done to be called a shack) built into the back of one of the towers of a Scandinavian town wall (Visby?). Perhaps more relevantly I know of a dwelling some miles away which looks like a couple of semi-detatched houses of no great age; however, careful examination suggests the structure is mostly that of a late medieval hall - in the roof space there are soot-blackened timbers because when it was originally built chimneys hadn't been invented. Many buildings in towns and cities have often had their street frontages replaced as fashions changed, what's behind can be very old. So Mordheim style architectural elements aren't necessarily inappropriate for modern PA scenery. Cheers, M Edited by Moramarth, Feb 10 2018, 02:41 AM.

Hey Moramarth, tanx for the interesting info. I live close to Ghent (Belgium) we have a medieval castle in Ghent and as can be seen on the picture around 1900 there was a factory inside the castle. ![]() So yes of course all architectural styles/periods can be found mixed at certain places and times. But in scenery (for theatre or for gaming or...) it helps when things are prototyped in a certain period/style as not to confuse 'the audience'. On the other hand it might be worth trying... cause a piece like this (mixing all different ages and techniques) could be 'the missing link' to tie all my scenery, old and new, together. By haven 'in-between ages buildings' I could put on the board as well as my Mordheim, sci-fi and post apoc scenery. That is why I dug up this unfinished Mordheim piece I had still laying around unpainted (and by chance also primed grey). Maybe I'll build a post apocalyptic shanty (with a touch of sci-fi ?) upon it. On the side, and in the middle of the following picture, one of the first conversions I ever made, years ago, I did not know the word 'conversion' back then. It s a regular cheap plastic toy soldier, now with "Suicidal Tendencies". ![]() |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYItTxqTc38 (that's how old I am) So...here it is...'the missing link' between my old Mordheim and my recent post-apoc scenery. I like it, so I might do some more in this style, especially cause I still have a few finished but unpainted Mordheim builds which could suit the purpose. Thanks for pointing me in this direction Moramarth ! ![]() The yellow pieces that make the tower you maybe recognize they used to be the bridge parts of an electric car race track. The silver control panel is a left over of a recent toy bash. ![]() Got it painted. ![]() A windmill, handy in a post apocalyptic world I suppose... ![]() My technique for trashing cars is still the same since I was a 10 year old boy, hold a lighter to it, stab it, scratch it, ...nothing subtle but effective enough. All the rubble and scatter is not fixed to any building so can be placed random. ![]() ![]() Control panel to the generator. ![]() Also painted the 'contemporary ruin'. ![]() First time, tried some clear packaging plastic for broken windows, cut and scratched it. That was easy. ![]() ![]() Hope you like it ! Ciao, Bobscene Edited by Bobscene, Feb 11 2018, 10:28 PM.

Looks great. It might be worth making some shading washes. There are some nicely detailed sections but shading would make them pop that little bit more. |

Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate your guy's opinions. You are right Brummie. Usually I don't have the patience to do all the washes properly. Seeing the foto's I notice that especially the walls and rivets on the windmill can have more shading. I'll take the build out of the storage box and give it another layer, maybe tonight. Cheers ! |
