 I already explained the mold procedure in the 'Terrain WIP' section' under: 'Hopefully nothing much, worst case...." First page.

 You haven't been paying attention Brummie ! :spank: "This will go down on your permanent record"
:)
Sorry professional deformation (being an art teacher)
Making the molds is:
super easy, you can find the ingredients everywhere, super cheap, not as toxic as most mold material on the market, no releasing agents necessary,...
If you start with small object such as car tiers, you can do it at the kitchen table (I do).
So I would recommend you try it yourself, it opens up a whole new range of fun possibilities in building scenery.

Good idea to copy tyres. There is always something that needs paining.

Finished building,

the flag is still missing, I 'll make one when painting.
Barbwire is not installed yet (glue is still wet)
And...even made some furniture ! I used 'Fimo' (oven backed clay).
The fridge turned out a bit sloppy (left corner on the foto), the seats where easier, matras was a cinch.

Yeah I know what you mean. I enjoy the building part of terrain but not the painting part.

What do you paint the hot glue with? I have always had a tough time getting paints and primers to stick with any durability.

Finished painting for now, still have to do some weathering especially on the barrels and crates.
@ Sinewgrab, after the clear plastic primer and the Matt black spray I paint with regular acrylic paint. Never have sealed or varnished afterwards, never noticed any damage.

If you look at the setup maybe you will notice it looks like the home of some kind of hoarder. Maybe he became obsessed with collecting wheels (there are a lot of those on the scene) in a desperate attempt to find replacements for his flat tiers ?

I seldom use bases, no base no = warping and everything becomes more modular. Like this the watchtower can stand alone and barricades can connect to each other in different set-ups.

As seen before, the watchtower can also be placed on the truck.
I still have to install a small chain between the 'motor' (on the roof of the watchtower) and the gate (under it) .
It is a sort of prison, maybe they want to keep zombies in it, as sort of watchdogs.

With the zombie game we are playing, this place, with all the different levels/rooms, will be a very interesting place to look for loot.

Hope you like it !

The finished painting of the 'work' ties it all together, clearly a wonderful set up! I wish I could have that on my table to game with.

Clear plastic primer? Huh. Don't think I have ever seen that. Going to give the hot glue instead of resin a try though - seems legit.

Looks good, by the way. Damned fine work.

I need to try the same as well. I'm told its the best way to repaint diecast cars as well or to weather the original paintjob.

Thank you all for the kind remarks guy's !

@Sinewgrab the clear plastic primer I use is made by: 'MOTIP'.

I buy my hot glue at the hardware shop it costs about 20€ for 2,5 kg (brand 'RAPID').
If you buy your hot glue at a craft and arts shop (fi 'PATTEX') it wil cost much more, like 7 € for 250gram.
Casting in hot glue does give small air bubbles.
For small pieces such as tiers 1 hot gun is enough, for larger pieces (as a complete wall) I use 3 guns at the same time, so I always have sufficient hot glue at hand. Because it is important to cast in one steady flow (otherwise you get 'cracks').
Poor the hot glue onto other hot glue as instead of directly into the mold this will diminish the air bubbles. I always place bigger molds on a slightly tilted underground so the glue spreads quicker and the layer is thinner (so cheaper).
Succes !

Short appendix.

Today I was sorting thru my 'stuff' (= all kinds of junk I gather to build scenery) and ... I found these beauties !
Forgot all about them, got them for free some years ago.
Building Mordheim you don't need lampposts, but when building a PA world they will fit in nicely.
Some of them where broken at the base. They needed a bigger base cause they kept falling over.

Posted Image

So I put a washer under them for weight and squirted some hot glue around. The 'stones' are cork bits painted grey.

Posted Image

Then covered the base with 50 % wood glue mix and sprinkled some coffee/pot earth on it.
As you can see on the foto this did not cover all the hot glue so I had to give them a second layer of glue and 'earth'.

Posted Image

Hope to see them on the table soon, maybe in the week-end ?
