A post where things go slow; Maybe one day... a conversion of a toy truck P.A-style

Found this truck at the secondhand shop some days ago.
Scale seems spot on. I think the truck I 'toy bashed' some time ago wil be to big compared to this one..

Anyway, no way I am going to start converting this one. Really, to much work in 'the real world' awaits...
It will have to wait...

Not that I don't have a plan though..
It could be like a ruined and plundered truck, wheels stolen f.i. Maybe it has been converted to a shanty, could add some tent elements or some windows cut in the trailer, maybe a chimney ? Or a removable roof ? Sure would be a handy piece to use in my Zombie game...

But now way you can expect a result soon, really, no way ...

A new truck and already tree flat tiers.

To make things worse somebody stole the rest of the wheels...
and they where not subtle at it.

How did you make the flat tires?

Hey Joe,

I melted them gently with a lighter and then pressed them on the cold stone floor (they are cheap plastic not real rubber).

This...you probably seen before.
When a site gets vandalized it soon attracts other vandals...

"Hey"

You guessed it Boss man !
It is supposed to be an ad on to the 'X-mas challenge walls I made'.
So the wagon can functions as an opening and closing gate.
The rest of the 'stranded truck' will be conversed to living accommodations.
The barricades that go on top of the truck can also be placed on the floor.
I want it to look like a 'junk yard'.
Some time ago I came across an article on this site and there where foto's of a scenery piece that depicted a junk yard. I remember there was a sign with the name of the commerce at the entrance.
It looked like trenches made of junk and scrap.
Helas I can't find this post anymore, does somebody remember which post I am talking about ?

Sweet. I like the doors.

Sadly I don't recall the picture. It was probably lost in the depths of the photobucket treachery. :X

Very cool. I built myself a sort of watchtower out on a truck wreck. Not as big as this but was lots of fun. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

This has given me an idea actually. I have lots of shipping containers. I could make some sort of parapets to go across the top of them to convert them into fortifications...hmm

Tanx gents,

@ Brummie, I once saw your truck wreck/watch tower. So you give me an idea, I give you one, fair trade.

Added sort of tent (pent ?)

Had some barrels and other assorted junk left overs casts from before projects.
Glued these around a plastic rod.
Glued a plastic rod with larger diameter to the tent. The larger rod slides over the thinner so it can easily come apart.
At the other end of the tent I also glued some plastic rods and drilled holes in the roof of the truck to slide them in to attach (also easily removable).

Think I wil change the title of the article cause things seem to move on, almost at the closing of the building stage.

(Although I'm thinking of sculpting some more assorted junk such as mattresses, fridge, armchair, etc...)

?

If you ever saw the BBC SF series "Outcasts" you may recall the perimeter wall of of the "Forthaven" settlement was made of emptied ISO intermodal containers, a bit of an odd choice for interstellar shipping, but everything else seemed to have arrived - prefabricated - in them (or was cannibalized from the Colony Transport landers).

Regards,

M

It will give more use out of the containers. Without taking up double the space.

I made some moulds of wheels, I had some moulds of barrels.
So I made some scatter/barricades. I thought these would go well with the junk yard look.
Building the scatter went very fast, casting in hot glue, like I do, goes very fast cause the glue sets (hardens) in a couple of minutes. So you can refill your moulds very fast.
Only after a while I realized I still have to paint to whole shebang...

Nice idea using the molds to reproduce scatter terrain! There is always something in need of painting.

Clever idea. What material did you use to make the molds in the first place?
