cardboard shanty; easy & cheap DIY

Hey,

got some corrugated and other cardboard together. The idea was to use only cardboard in this build.
First I pealed of one side of the paper. Using a watered sponge was not such a good idea, I found it easier pealing it dry.
Some cardboard was easier to peal then other.

Corrugated comes in big ribs (postal boxes f.i.) and smaller ribs (pizza delivery boxes f.i.).
I used the smallest ribs to make corrugated sheet (iron) and the biggest ones I glued back to back as to make poles and metal beams.
I used the hole punch to make rivets.
Took my small hot glue gun and started, without a real plan, to construct a shanty. Nothing fancy or original, a shanty as there are many, and not only in the P.A.world...
To reinforce I covered the whole thing (both sides) in 50°/o wood glue/water mix. Guess I lost some detail doing this... I 'll have to wait until painted to see.

Ok not all of it is cardboard. I am a smoker so some matches where laying about and I used some paper towel for the curtain and a little piece on the roof. This was not a good idea cause you get better detail with real textile (small piece of a handkerchief f.i.)

This is how it all comes apart.

I could ad all kinds of detail now (like chimney or tiers on the roof or...) but I won't .
Next up...painting.

Ciao !

Darn the force of habit.
I did not need to spray it black, grey is closer to metal.
So I resprayed it grey.

I'm happy with the paint. I took my time to dry brush, wash, dry brush, some more wash... (I put it on the radiator for the washes to dry faster)

New inhabitants seem happy ...

Haha,

I'm sure you recognize them, they used to stay at your place !

Now they have found a dwelling of their own.

I worked for the most part of two evenings on it. A total of aprox 5 hours ?

Tanx for the comments guys !
