DIY armored car; left over build

Hey,

For the game of Rush 'n Crush I'm planning, we are 3 players, each needs, at least, 2 cars. I now have build 3 big ones and 5 small ones. So this build should be the last 'small' one.
I'm still figuring out how to play the game without the boxes on the board (which we don 't have). I want to play with centimeters on my self build terrain. Anybody got any experience with Rush 'n Crush modifications of the rules ? (maybe I should post this question in the 'rules' section ?)
Anyway here it is...

You probably saw these pictures also in your newspaper. Titel of the article translates as: 'The scrapheap of ISIS'.

And that is what I am planning to do, building with scrap, nothing fancy (not like my previous build, the hot rod, which looks like it belongs to a wealthy mob boss) This time, just the basics. Also and because after all previous builds my collection of toy parts is almost finished. So these simple designs where perfect.
I based the build on a car that once belonged to the daughter. It 's the cuddly version of a VW, proportions where all wrong so nothing lost when I cover it completely.

But the original ISIS designs where a tat to boring. So I could not help myself and added some details. Now of course it does not look the part (of an ISIS armored car) but anyway, that is what I am stuck with now.

On to the painting !

Until then,

No questions about it knowing the origins of the car, because ya can't see it! Good work!!

Started by spraying clear plastic primer, then matt black.
Then turned to the brush and covered it with lead color, using regular acrylic paint.
I had tried previous times to paint chipped paint. For this I used a sponge, this never worked out so good.
But I read, here on this site somewhere (forgot who, sorry) not to use a regular sponge but to use the white spongy (plastic) material used sometimes to protect packaging (you can see a small piece of it on the foto below).

So I dabbed some red on it.

Added some rust colors

Then again with the 'sponge' ad lead color

Tidy up with small brush and black on places where the red went 'overboard'
Finally some mud/sand color for dirt (on the bottom), and an overall wash of black acrylic paint and water.

With this as a result.
It looks like an Orc ride (or Grotz/Greenies ...) It has a fifties/red army feel to it, as if there is a Skoda underneath.

Hope you like it, I do, and I enjoyed building it cause this was an easy conversion, no small fiddly bits, finished in a couple of hours. The guns on top where once exhaust pipes of a small scaled Matchbox (Hotwheels ?) motorboat.

Ciao,
Bobscene
