So, I'd imagine you've all heard of Urban War?

Well, I finally got a taste and got to handle the toys the other week, quite surprised, it wasn't a bad game.
I see how it can have the potential to be monotonous, but such is life where a games partly written to be played in a tournament environment are concerned.

So, I split a starter box with a mate and I ended up with Synths, the robot dudes. Now my pick had nothing to do with the near naked cyber chicks that force has (you don't believe me do you?).

What's everyone's take on the game? Has anyone given it a try? Have you eyed off the models to add to your PA games?

Whatcha reckon lads?

I like some of the figures, and looked at them a few times as possible additions, though I'm not a fan of the junkers and gladiators - theres not been enough doen with them, their just gladiators and roman legionaires with guns. Never played the game though, read the rule sa while back and seem to remember that I wasn't that impressed with them though.

I've a fw of their old Void figures lurking in the ranks of my forces; but its not something I've really looked at (despite owning a copy of the rulebook)

I have never tried the game. I do have some of the minis from the void days - mainly early junkers AKA - my Garbage force.

Garbage warriors.

The plastics are pretty good and IMO some of the best plastic minis for ease of assembly and poseablity. They do have lots of useable metal minis for the PA games and I do like the Milita minis from the later games.

I started painting my stuff....... and I got bored. While I was painting, all I could think of was "another bloody point based system." Meh, I'll paint 'em eventually.

So Urban Mammoth was responsible for Void?

Just stumbled upon this Ross...
You got pics of your Synths? I've been eying this off ever since I first saw it back in the day.

I've got them out with good intentions, but they just haven't held my attention long enough to get the brushes out.

I like some of the figures, I'm not sure what I've got but I think they are colony rebels or something and a few robot types. I had a skim of the rules and to paraphrase them they seemed to be "you know 40k? You know that's like ripped from various bits of history? Guess what, we did the same but renamed less stuff - enjoy!" Celtos was pretty good though I think that's by the same people.

These may even be the older "VOID" figures.

matt - Thanks! I was going for xenomorph/human hybrid alien hive princess thingie, so it was either gray or brown, with the same but darker for hair & vestigial bits of chitinous armor. Here's mommy:

freebooter - They were once available individually. Hunt around online and perhaps you can save some scales/teef/coins/rounds/litres/heads/whatevers.

Hmm... Just to find something to use them with though...
Maybe Weird War Soviet snipers?

I have a few boxes of these - I even pushed a few minis around in a couple of small games.

I sold off my Junkers and then 12 months later found myself re-buying some more for a project. :$ - so now I keep various Void minis around as "interesting sculpts" for other rulesets. :)

As for history - John Robertson was one of the folks behind Kryomek (1991?), then Warzone/Chronopia (1995?), more recently Void/Celtos (ikore) and now UW (Urban Mammoth).
He gets around a bit. ;)
