You get Dogmeat plus one other follower, you have to be the correct alignment to recruit them. (althrough if you recruit dogmeat and then shoot him you can have two).

Good (both ladies)

Fawkes (good super mutant )
Star Paladin Cross (BOS)

Neutral

Butch (wimp from the vault)
RL-3 (robot)

Evil

Jericho (ex-raider)
Clover (Slave)

Don't care

Dogmeat (Dog)
Charon (Ghoul)

I was playing good. I did team up with Charon for a while treasure hunting. I never ran into her again. Star Paladin Cross also teamed up with me but she disappeared when the enclave captured me - it may be possible that the enclave killed her.

Later I had Fawkes and Dogmeat. Made a point of leaving Dogmeat at the citidel. I then played the endgame. Good job I saved before entering the citidel so I can do more exploring.

I think it will be a trip to Megaton to do a bit of snooping there - I want to check out Burkes house. I may go to Tenpenny towers - lets see what those snooty buggers make of Fawkes. I failed to open the goul doors to the towers and I got fed up with Roy's attitude and came out fighting!

Cross should be in the Robot control room in the Citadel, walking around the top level.....you can play the main quest right up to the last battle and then leave it there while you explore. The benefit to this is the enclave teams start arriving from the air and ground strongpoints start appearing.

If your a good guy, you can ask for the right to trade with the Brotherhood Quartermaster who has a lot of high tech stuff available (althrough by that point I had a huge amount of weaponry and money).

Mostly the characters go back to where you recruited them....the robot however goes to Canterbury Commons (I recruited it elsewhere) and I've no idea where Fawkes goes if you dismiss her. Butch is recruited in Rivet City bar apparently but only if you take a certain route in the return to Vault 101
Spoiler: click to toggle
althrough I've never seen him there either way and he's apparently unsurprisingly useless.

The joys of computer games.....

Just shot tenpenny - saved it and then went on a rmapage through tenpenny towers. Killing snooty snobs is so much fun! Fawkes seemed to enjoy herself and doesnt seem to mind the change in Karma level. I will go back to the save - just to stay a goody two shoes. :D

Just took a peak at the Fallout 3 wiki - There is so many locations I have not found and side missions I have missed. I am off to do some wasteland wandering! :D

You can kill Tenpenny without anybody noticing (he should have a key you'll need for one of the quests which gets you the unique powered armour), or caring. I shot the SOB everytime, took everything, then picked him up and threw him over the balcony. ALthrough make sure you get the room key first for dealing with the ghoul problem.

Tenpenny tower is quite a good base of operations for the local area, so I kept it intact even when I was EVIL. :M-4: :shoot: :sig:

Megton, but, what about Tenpenny Towers?

You can get a suite in tenpenny tower....provided you do certain nasty things first....

Got to max level and completed the game not too long ago. Started off very good but slowly got worse via slavery and gunning people down in Rivet City....then back good again.

Listen out for 3 dog on the radio either singing your praises or smack talking you.

Ehh... I wasn't all that fond of Fallout 3..

The environs were great, and it wasn't a bad game on it's own, but.. that damn '3' gets me every time. Why not 'The D.C. Wastes' or something else?

Eh.

Hell, Bethesda actually could have used the same game, without the multi-million dollar license, change a few names, and had a 'Unique' IP they could then slap a 'Remember Fallout?' tag on to promote interest, like Fallout did for Wasteland..

...Yeah, I'm just bitter about Project: Van Buren never hitting the market. If it had, we may already be on the 4th or 5th proper game in the series.. oh well.

I see your point, but in fairness, while the gameplay was very different to the first two I think it was loyal in terms of theme/story so using the '3' wasn't unjustified.

Like I said: Bitterness over Project Van Buren... Project Jefferson, too.

But, that aside, I actually have some faith in the gaming industry once more, with Obsidian taking the reigns for the next Fallout game.

Just caught wind of it yesterday on Kotaku and No Mutants Allowed.
They haven't given out much information, but, here's what I know:

Title is 'Fallout: New Vegas'
It's a spin-off of the series, being created by Obsidian. (Overseen by BethSoft)
It's tentatively set for early-mid quarter 2010 release, and will (99.9% likely) be using the Gamebryo engine. (What F3 used)
Given the early release date, and the fact that they're using an already established engine with a metric arse-ton of assets, Obsidian's main issue (Bugs in the engine) shouldn't be an issue, and they can focus on their strengths: Strong story, developed NPC's, hefty moral choices, and well-written dialogue.
If that's the case, then my wishes will be answered!... Well, one at least.

In other news..

Chris Taylor has informed the No Mutants Allowed community (Amongst others) that Project V-13 is still going strong, but can't elaborate any more. Strange, given that BethSoft just released a statement in which they include the removal of Interplay's right to produce a Fallout based MMORPG game.
It's possible that Interplay has something up their sleeve, or that they have alternate names and such planned...

Information is pretty sketchy, at best... there may be more on the Interplay official forums, but I can't be arsed.

I never got to play FALLOUT and FALLOUT 2 on the PC but i shot through for FALLOUT for the PS3 in OCTOBER, and all i can say is WOW!

i think i have encountered my first truly addictive video game! i have played through it as a good guy, as a good guy gone bad, as a bad guy from the very start, followed plot line scenarios, ignored them and just wandered where ever i wanted to. the world is huge! the graphics are great!

Has anyone seen the Point Lookout (Maryland swampland horror-themed) add-on? Along with Operation Anchorage (US Army vs Chinese invaders in Alaska) and The Pitt (set in the ruins of Pittsburgh, filled with slavers and slaves).

How I wish I was playing it on PC! Or had an XBox 360! I'm currently stuck on my sister's bf's PS3, which isn't particularly bad but the downloadable content isn't as readily available on it. Sucks.

They're also working on Mothership Zeta (seen the crashed alien ship? With the dead alien? That is a recon craft...the main ship has come looking for answers, abducting you and various locals...), Fallout: New Vegas as mentioned by Dimitri and eventually Fallout 4.

I just restarted Fallout 3 a couple of weeks ago, I can't believe the amount of locations that I've yet to see in the times I've completed the game. I hadn't seen Reilly's Rangers, still haven't been to the Dunwich Building (creepy Lovecraft-themed building) or Shalebridge (home to two giant ant colonies, one friendly, one attacking you and the friendly - you can go clear out the attacking one) and so on. Absolutely fantastic game - as much as I loved Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3 is just a much better game. In my opinion obviously :)

The Point Lookout stuff is what has my attention at the moment - I'm already planning some swamp terrain to go with my stuff.
