Yeah, um, went to a GW 40K Apocalypse tourney on the weekend, thought I'd show off my human-ish horde:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It was a 3000pt affair. I ended up taking 220 infantry and 2 light tanks using the Imperial Guard army list. Wasn't terribly bad, but I did come across a couple of uptight humorless GW fanboys that dampened things slightly. Humorless fanboys? Man, those SOB's are everywhere... I'm a rebel and do as much as humanly possible to annoy the $#!+ out of 'em. Use Orkz painted in the 2nd Ed scheme. |

Explosion in a paint factory FOR THE WIN!!!! I do have a big love for that era of orks, like everything else GW related, 40k has turned shit! The real fun was the early stuff (hence the ode to Squats in my stuff ). I even had a slight altercation with a fanboy during the tourney about Squats and the fact "they still exist" to which he started the GW doctrine of fluff, my retort went along the lines of "screw GW fluff."

Ross ya titled it, "Lame Apocalypse"... for goodness sake how much 28ish-mm 'stuff' can be crammed onto a 4ft by 8ft piece of board and call it... I don't know the GW lingo... what?... the best gamimg experience since the invention of a die?? Okay, I support the "Great Weasel" through purchases of Ork/Orc. I will not complain about the nut-busting grasp on the majority of the gaming community. Nor, will I blast they're constant shake up of the "UNIVERSE" to manipulate cash flow. Yet, I will say this.. as a PA group. eat 'em if they're not strong enuff to resist!!! English Biscuit? Tinker Outlawed in most communities, usually by smell along |

Dont get me going about the GW fanboys! I like some of the GW minis - even if the metals can be overpriced. What I dont like is the constant changing of forces to suit the suits. The only thing it keeps happy is the new blood to the hobby and annoys everyone else who has spent a fortune and time building an Army. Its a shame the nuggets who play the games follow it like a religion. Good job I suppose as the world would be even more F**ked up if they got into religion. The old 40K RT feel has been lost. The ideas of an massive universe where anything can happen and stuff from beyond the rules and minis line was catered for. It was about fun and imagination. IMO GW needs to bring back Squats and Genestealer cults. They also need some Space Skaven too. Why cant IG ride about in Land Raiders and Rhinos like the old days? Bring back Dark Future too. |

RavenFeast, they're a count as Kroot Mercenary group, they're fantasy marauder torso's and legs, marauder and catachan arms, beastmen ungor heads, sculpted hands/feet/manes. They look great on the table, but cop alot of flak and usually di pretty easy, which is a shame considering the amount of work that went into them ![]() Tinker it's not that I hate GW's games (I still hang onto Necromunda quite strongly), it's just the direction that the company (not the hobby) seems to go. The constant changing of the rule books, army lists changing so you can't use 'X' but don't worry now you can buy 3 of 'Y' etc After 15 years I've had enough. Doesn't mean I won't crack out some of my collection for shits and giggles, but that's the thing I wasn't all that happy about when I took that force to the gaming weekend, people taking things too seriously. 'Tis only a game. Perhaps it's just me and a distinct dislike for competition, by GW over the years seems to be breeding a competitive gamer, it's not just about 'endless possibilities' or cool models anymore. It's 'fringe' gaming like PA, Wild West, Supers, PULP etc that the real 'honest' gamers are flocking too. Those that want to model for models sake, to explore a genre without any real limits, without being locked into a particular companies models and limits. The ability to utalise your own imagination is a wonderfull thing, there's enough shit in this world to limit what you do without having a big corporation putting the blinkers on a personal hobby. Damn, a rant first thing in the morning ![]() I don't think I'd like to see new Squats Dan, they'd only F*** them up I was going to do a 'Stealer cult for Necromunda this year. Might hold off till next year.I like that one Bungle, he's got the crazy eyes, big forehead and big lips like the Stealer guys

Thats the reason why games like No Limits and Skank exist! I have to admit liking the old 40K Rt (1st Ed), Dark Future and Necromunda. Not the I play any of them much. Have you got the Ash Wastes Rules for Necro Ross? It has vehicles and new rules for life in the wastes. Might fit B29 more. Using Catchain arms on Chaos Maruaders - I am going to pinch that one for my Hell Born Army. A satanic force based on the ones from the Jon Shannow novels (they think that Hell won Armaggedon since god didnt turn up and they are alive and well).

Those arms will work well, I used them for my road warriors, the tattered leather wrist bracers and muscle fit the bill. We played a little of the Ash Wastes for the last B29 games, but I want a more RPG element so we're switching to Shadowrun 2ed. if we ever get around to playing ![]() I'm very much partial to Necromunda, don't mind Mordheim either. These days I noticed I much prefer skirmish games. |

OLE DAWGIE is a pain in the fan boys butts, too. i do not play 40K anymore, but i do buy some of their stuff every now and then and add it to my beakie SM, IG and ORKS (which are all plastic now days-had to sell off my 1980s metal IG and ORKS to cover moving expenses and help hold things together after my sister got laid off without warning). sigh. . . but i did keep a battery of thudd guns (3 of them), a battery of SP quad lasers (3 of them), and four batteries of SP tarantulas (with heavy plasma guns, multi-meltas, heavy bolters, and laser cannons) to support my plastic IG and v/1 beakie SM. when some jerk gets their drawers in a knot, i just blithely inform them that since we are actually fighting the enemies of the EMPIRE, far from EARTH, that the orders informing US that certain specific items of equipment no longer exist got lost or garbled in transmission, or round filed as bureaucratic bumpf from REMF in the rear with the gear. . . i like to watch their faces change colors in person and read their email responses on various sites . . . DAWGIE, CO, 13TH CATACHAN LIGHT INFANTRY REGIMENT ("WE MAKE OUR OWN LUCK!"), 2ND DUNROAMIN LIGHT INFANTRY REGIMENT ("TALK IS CHEAP!"), 4TH NOVA TEXAS RANGERS ("BIG IRON"), HELL'S ANGELS SM CHAPTER ("EAT MEGA DEATH!"), and BULGZ BOYZ ("MEAN GREEN MUTHAS FROM OUTER SPACE!") . . . |

Ah... the joys of fanboy baiting... I still fondly recall a new 'hot-shot' fanboy swaggering up to a GW member of staff and giving him an earful for refering to TErminaotr Marines in dreadnaughts... and then his refusal to belive that once upon a time [ read as : previous edition codex] they were often refered to as Tactical Dreadnaught armour. In the end, the store member went out back and found an old edition of the codex and showed hotshot. It almost shattered his world.

When I first started this Fallout project, I had considered building playable 40K armies at the same time. Then I visited the 40Kforums. Those ass-hats changed my mind in a hurry. Half of them chant "you can't do that, it's against the rules" while the other half chant "why would you want to do that, that's stupid." Suddenly it hit me... why should I spend hundreds of dollars to stand around a table with people like that?!? Thank God Dimitri rescued me and dragged me here where people are actually COOL and FRIENDLY and have IMAGINATIONS and ORIGINAL IDEAS!!! I love 40K minis, they're absolutely gorgeous, but I'm already a survivor of Magic the Gathering... I don't want to jump into another quagmire like that ever again, thanks. LOL! |

Ditto to that Xander, ditto to that! It's so universal too, it can be played with anyone that is so uptight about comics, sports, cars, etc. I used to bait a few Chessplayers when I got too bored... I just like to see 'em fly off the handle.

Ah, NM, I still hang around on 40KForums.. You just so happened to post the right questions, in the right place.. doesn't make any sense, right? There are some decent guys(And girls) there, but a lot of them are obsessive. The rule and army boards tend to be filled with powergamer types, and when someone wants to mix something up or use it for a purpose -beyond- their beloved obsession.. it doesn't end well. Honestly, I stick to the Painting section and off-topic boards. The most knowledgeable and talented painters, ironically, rarely or flat out -don't- play 40K; they just like the models. Hell, I was arguing in a guy's favor a few weeks back.. wanted to build and paint up an intergrated Ork/SM force, with 'good' storyline behind it, and some cool sounding ideas. Maybe one other person said to go with it. Most screamed 'YOU CAN'T DO THAT! IT'S NOT IN THE RULES!!!!11!'. What do I say? Fuck the goddamn rules; do it anyway! It's a cool idea! Next poster? Nurr.. I wuldn't ply aginst it! Nurr! Gme blnce runed! Screw your 'game balance'... just makes for a boring experience. ... Perhaps I'm being harsh, but a guy had a cute idea. It sounded like fun. Hell, it would have been praised back in the Rogue Trader days, more than likely. Instead of giving constructive criticism, and figuring out 'why' the guy would want to make a relatively unique force, they tear him down before he could even start. To add insult to injury, I believe I got a PM from a mod telling me to 'watch it' before I got a warning. (3 warnings-permaban.) ... I'm stopping now. There are good guys on there, and even the annoying ones are kept in line most of the time. Dare you say anything truly negative, or show interest in using a GW product for something else, someone's going to explode. And probably not be punished for it. /Endrant. |
