I ended up stripping the block down. It was too bulky and I wasn't happy with how it was going together.

Found a couple of cork floor tiles so I decided to make some urban sprawl for Utopia city. I hate working with cork tile. It's a bitch to cut the windows in.

I wont be making another from cork tile. I will be using the other one for detailing this one. I am undecided what to do with it. Glue the roof on and use card for the window panes. Or put firing ledges for figures to shoot out the windows and have a removable roof?

I gave your building dilemma some very careful thought for about onwards of about 10 seconds. Cut it into two separate buildings or more and use it as battle damaged. You might even get four or more builds from what ya have there!

I have seen some craft cork, which really appears to be all that is available to us Americans used for miniature bases and for Necromunda.

WARNING... WARNING WILL ROBINSON: Craft Cork is thin and using it for buildings requires some nature of supporting materials.

Kudos to my fellow generation that pick up the WARNINGS reference...!

Inky the finished thing is here along with loads of other terrain bits.

The difference between cork floor tiles & sheet is that the floor tiles are laminated and treated making them quite tough. You have to put some serious pressure on the blade to cut it and that's doing it with several scores.

The plan is to add a floor so there is a door step. The roof will be removable for gaming access. Balconies will be added internally so bad guys can shoot out of the windows.

The rest will be architectural detail.

Things have been busy here. Real life getting in the way of the hobby. Here are some of the offerings I have been working on for my Urban Sprawl.

This is a apartment building made from cork floor tile. It just needs a few extra details and it will be ready for painting.

Posted Image

I fancied something fun for the squares and other open areas. This was a keyring glued on a cork bottle stopper. It just needs a lick of paint.

A food place or cafe is a must for a urban table so I set to the remaining cork tile.

Posted Image

As you can see a bit of tile cracked and fell off during the chopping it up phase...

Posted Image

I guled it back together and using a scrap bit of balsa wood batoned it.

Posted Image

Then it was a waiting game....waiting for the PVA to dry.

Posted Image

There you go as good as new. All I had to do was trim 5mm off the Balsa so I could it the wall snugly.

Then it was assembly time...

Apologies for the crap picture.

A shot of the other side.

Nice work Warlord, thanks for posting the pictures.

There appears to be a monstrously large feline calculating on when it should try to fit itself inside the Cafe de Kitty Kat!

I the corner stone work on the multistory building made of card?

Yeah that's my old kitty Alice. :D

The cornerstones are OO scale self adhesive paving for rail way sets. The edges are chamfered so it gives them a nice look. The down side is the self adhesive is poo so PVA was used. :D

I am thinking of putting grills on the first floor windows to stop LOS through the building.

Grills? Just hang some fancy lace curtains!

Have ya found any of your cats invading or attempting to nap in the interiors of the builds yet?

I don't know why, but it was that dice that really caught my eye. Are you going to do the indents as bullet holes, or will it be "modern art"?

That's a great idea.

I am using it as modern art. You know those little details that may a urban scape interesting.

The dice is metal so drilling will be a pain.

Hey MBG, if yer lookin for details to make your city intresting I often:

A) make statues from bigger figures... My 28mm imperial guardsmen were sprayed dark grey, drybrushed a lighter shade and mounted on bottle tops and jenga blocks! They made the ultimate sacrifice to become 15mm war memorials!

B) poster,posters, POSTERS!!!
I bloody love posters on buildings... Goodle images is now yor best friend! Copy/paste a loada fallout or film posters from a quick google search stick 'em on a word doc and print till your black little hearts content ;)

But back on track, yes I do like the idea of modern art features!

Thank you for the ideas. I will be applying what I can when I get back to it. :D

Meanwhile.....

Just a couple of WIPs of thing I am working on....

Halloween is on the way...so I got on with a GW Garden of Morr...

Not much left to do. A wash to tone it down and static grass. Better pictures to follow. I may look into making extra graves. I want a Halloween game this year. Any game ideas guys? I have Werewolves, Zombies and Vampires in my collection.

I was left alone unsupervised yesterday so I went on a terrain building binge.

A mix of Sci-Fi Frontier World, Sci Fi Post Apoc and Sci- Fi Urban terrain. I guess it would have been easier to say Sci-Fi terrain. Its mostly junk from the recycled bin. Cardboard packaging, old gift cards, tool box insert, a bit of washing machine packing, plastic drinking straws, a old cassette box, wire mesh, corrugated card and cereal packing card. In fact the poster board bases and plastic bases I am using as windows are the only bought items.

The card packaging was reenforced with builders spay foam. I had to cut the excess back to make it fit on the bases.

All they need is basing and some paint. I may look in the bits box for stuff to add a little more detail. I feel the building with the circular feature on the top may benefit from a comms array or turret of some description.
