Thanks. I have started painting a set of figs called the family, with 2 chainsaw wielding twins among others. But it will take a while before they are done.

Finally I got some new minis done. I gonna have them as cannibals for my games. I don't know what I will start on now, but I have lots of minis to be painted. I like it, it's fun but I don't have that much time for it so progress is slow.

mr wasteland,

Great collection of minis! A lot of those I've never seen.

Paint jobs are great. Have you ever thought about using magic wash on these? I think it would really make them pop!

Either way great stuff!

i have used wash by citadel. I don't reconize magic wash. To be honest i think it's tricky using washs and shades. Im not good at it, but hopfully will be better. Thank you for your advice

mr wasteland,

Magic Wash is a mixture you make yourself. In the USA it embodies your favorite ink (Higgins my favorite, Windsor Newton, Army Painter, GW...) mixed with Johnson Pledge Acrylic floor wax. Finding the right mixture is trial and error but I usually use a few drops of ink to an an ounce of wax.

The wax stays wet for about 20-30 min. If you don't like the look just rinse it off while it's wet. Just use water. Then strengthen or weaken the effect by modifying the mixture. It has a similar effect that Army Painter Shades have without the mess, time, or smell. BTW dip the whole mini in it so the effect is uniform. You can take off excess, or pooling wash by drawing it off with a clean dry brush. when dry it will have a gloss finish. If you prefer matte just hit with a flat clear coat such as Testor's Dullcote.

That's about it. What ever you decide, keep up the good work!

Below are some Epic Space Marine tanks I dipped.

Simple "newbie" black wash

1 part Black paint + 5 parts water. Apply heavily to entire figure. The black paint is heavier than the water and will run/sink into the figure's recesses. Use the tip of a clean, dry brush to soak up any excess. Allow to fully dry. Once dry, touch-up as needed.

The 1-paint/5-water mixture is what I typically use but YMMV. Experiment and find what works best for you.

mr wasteland,

found the name of the Pledge floor wax product in Sweden. It is:

Some members of IPMS Stockholm have been using a product from S.C. Johnson Sweden, called Pledge Klar Polish. It can be bought in ICA and COOP Supermarkets. Dan the Droid Building Viking reported this information for our use - thanks Dan.

Mix about 10 parts wax with a little ink of your choice, dip a painted miniature in it making sure to cover the whole surface. Brush off excess pools of wax and Blammo! instant shading with a dry time of about an hour with no smell. Finish with a flat coat and your done. I've painted thousands of 6mm and 10mm miniatures this way and have only used two bottles of wax and 4-5 bottles of ink. Cheap, effective, and easy. Cleans up with water!

Hope this is helpful.

I'm a chicken when it comes to 28mm. I have a friend paint them for me. Although I did do about 25 54mm gladiators with the magic wash method and they came out good. Really done before I was proficient at Magic Wash.

mr wasteland,

Good looking minis!

Where'd you find the orcish one? Like the paint job on that one a lot!
