If you think about it, the PA environment is very similar to the Hollywood style fiction western.

Tribals-Indians
Lawdogs-Sheriffs Posse
Military Remnants-Cavalry
Raiders-Outlaws, Comancheros, Gangs, also indian warparties

Traders, Caravaners-Wagon Trains, Tinkers, Snake-oil salesmen
Survivors-Settlers

Some of the other similarities:

Safety only in strong communities, outside the communities very dog eat dog.
Very Poor technology except firearms
Very isolated areas, wilderness (or wild wasteland)

You might look at some old westerns or frontier movies to come up with some game ideas.

Some I would recommend; Major Dundee, Revenant, Silverado, Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, the Searchers, Jeremiah Johnson, Rio Grande, Fort Apache, lots more.

Also try and look at some other period movies for ideas: King Arthur, El Cid.

Just my thoughts.

I remember dicuss in this many moons ago when the (now oop) Babylon's Burning rules came out. I think the lawlessness gives a similar feel to westerns.

Don't forget the "gold rush" theme when a new set of ruins is discovered. Or ambush of the tanker convoy as a stage coach robbery.

Yes this is so true. I have been thinking this for a long time, that ap and western are very similar. To me it fits very well cos I like both genres much. A weekend with pa movies and spaghetti western is always good
