What background do you like to play?

Is it Zombies (Dawn of dead/Resident evil), Rage Virus (28days/weeks), Alien infestation (AVP), Nuke war (fallout), Big rock smashing into the world (babylons burning), envriomental change, alien invasion, big stompy monsters, gates of hell opening (Demons, zombies n stuff aka hellgate/road rage), vampire apocalypse (bloodrayne 2), genetic mutations, viral infections, Robots rising up or full on Nuke Bacterial and chemical war?

Have I missed any? :D

My background was a big rock hitting the earth. But that got boring (no mutants) I have moved to full on Nuke, Bacterial and chemical warfare destroying the world. :D

I use a souped up version of BB'sbig, reasonably radioactive, rock hitting the earth - along with an andromeda starian esque alien virus which brings back the dead

The Yeast Wars. Yeast makes alchohol by eating organic matter and pooing out the waste, ie alchohol. I figured that if you engineered a super strain it would eat all life and leave a baron rock surface. Pools of alchohol. Would make a great weapon. The final downfall of civilisation was a series of chemical, biological and nuclear battles.

Anyway, yeast strains once released would most likely adapt back to a less virilant variety, more like its predecessors. Thats where the fuel comes from(and the booze) in NucRen. Basically there are some strains of yeast that are so hardy they can easily produce near to fuel grade alcohol mixtures from virtually any organic matter. Dirty socks, culled muties, garden waste, pooh, you name it, you can buy grog made from it! Drink the stuff or put it in the wagon, its a "win win" situation...

Anyone read D20 Apocalypse?

Mine is the Biblical one... but no one (I know) ever wants to play it... :-/

They don't want to get their ass kicked by angels...

Yeah I read that. As I recall the angels had buggered off and the few left were not too happy about it! :D I think Road Rage by westwind also covers that sort of angle - or you could also use occult wars. The PC game Hellgate London has the demons (more cuthlull than traditional jeudo-christian) but no angels. Just humans fighting to survive the hellspawn.

Of course some of the demons are left as well... but they're somewhat "less displeased" about that prospect...

I like it becuase it's an intersting take on the post-apoc...

That;s also why I liked D20 modern... but no one wanted to play that either... yet suddenly D&D 4th ed is popular (whicj is not a kick in the arse away from either D20 modern or Starwars Saga)

One must wonder!

I found sometihng simliar around here. Its all card games, GW or battletech. Not my thing. You are forced to play because no one else plays your games (I dont - I solo game). It is odd how so many are into the same thing at the same time. The name of a certain wooly animal springs to mind when I think of them.

Don't get me wrong... they will play it... but:

1) I have to GM
2) It'll be at my house
3) We [the players] would rather play Call of Cthulhu [because you do that dead good Andy]!
4) Love you XXX

This is the Sh!t I have to contend with... it's why we play Warmachine/Hordes.

They are intense games even over a couple of rounds... magic!

....back on track.....

Mine has some biblical overtones, G.O.D.S being the Global Orbiting Defense System that reigned fire down upon the earth, a reversal of Noah's flood with the oceans drained through a portal in Atlantis driving back the Nephilem (spelling is WAAAY off on that). Well that's about it anyway.
I did have designs on calling the robot strike forces sent down from G.O.D.S called A.N.G.E.L.S. But I could never find a flowing acronym that suited it.

You need the Special Planetary Landing and Attack Troops.... (SPLAT)

drop from high orbit in pods... rather than drop ships for stealth missions.

Anyway back to backgrounds.... Anyone seen Dark Angel? thats a nice background.... just make the south and centre US more lawless and most human backgrounds can be catered for.

Has anyone red the 'Wolf & Iron' novel by Gordon R Dickson? The setting is a USA which has undergone social & economic collapse - it sounds rather like Bungles setting...

Zombies like Dawn of the Dead but it was of course started by a virus ala Resident Evil...
Also on the note of Jericho i watched the first couple of episodes and it looked good sad to find out it was eventually axed :(
