Well, I posted this stuff elsewhere while this seems the best place to start. I started a junkyard in 20mm for modern games, but a friend recently asked me to help him do a demo at Crisis 2016 and for that he needs tons of scrap, in 28mm. Starting off slow, I traded a 1/120 MiR space station: ![]() Based the useful parts: ![]() Then found time to build a couple of bases of bear traps (God I hated those things in Fallout 3) ![]() (I will copy most of the other traps too just for fun) Then slapped some paint on the first pile of scrap and tried out my first filter: ![]() And another filter: ![]() ...and they just had their 2nd filter and will get their first hardcoat tomorrow and a finalising matte varnish during the next week. Meanwhile, I made a callout amongst friends and other forums for unwanted Space Marine bikes as rusty parked bikes. Only to find some in the very first box I opend in my stash (forgot I had them). Removed the Chaos bits, changed their look to civillian....and needs some more work and bases. Other then that ready for basecoat. ![]() I've got basically 11 months to create a big 28mm junkyard. Oh, and a sci-fi adobe village too. No pressure. |

Inkwell, those are Ammo MIG enamel washes that I apply in certain areas and then wash over the model in most places with some white spirit to create a very soft change in colour tone. Or in my case not so soft cause I have not been using the item sold as a filter, but the item sold as a spot wash, which is a tad darker, but still creates the weatherd look I want. Still learning though. |

Added some filler caps to the bikes, opened 3 of them. I think they need a bit more, but not sure what. Also picked up some Cars cars. Anyone know how to remove those faces other then grinding them off? |

On the Cars cars, I've seen people paint over them, grind them off, or add more junk on top to cover them up. If these are to be junk cars, then I think piling more junk pieces on top of the faces would be the easiest thing to do. |

Those bikes look good. Check out matt black rat bikes for inspiration. Lots of real world bikes. The cars can have plates or grills over the windows to hide the shapes. Same goes for the bumper. In some cases you can fill them with putty. |
