BACKGROUND In 2014, relations between the East and West began to sour. With Russia gaining territory in the Ukraine. In a show of force, the United States sent the "Dragoon Ride", an armored convoy, through Eastern Europe. Poland saw an increase in the recruitment of citizens into paramilitary groups who were expecting a Russian invasion any day now. Meanwhile, Russia increases flights of combat aircraft, with said flights often encroaching on other countries airspace. 2015, saw more of the same, with the exception of an increased hostility. In Poland, Russian immigrants start to be harassed by Polish militants, with interactions becoming increasingly bloodier. On December 13th, 2015, Russia, feigning sympathy towards the plight of the immigrants, crosses the border as "peacekeepers". NATO, sensing danger, sends in a coalition of US, British, and German units, to hold off Russian units near the border with Kaliningrad. While the frontline here is formed, the rest of Eastern Europe becomes a warzone......... May 28, 2016 No one knows how or why, but nukes are launched by both sides. Due to the missile defence programs in most countries, the majority of missiles are shot down, however some find their way to capitals, including Kiev, Vienna, and Paris, among others. The frontline in Eastern Europe falls into disarray, and anarchy reigns. Soldiers start fighting for themselves, rather than for their officers, and struggle to ind a way back to their homelands. Some, seeing an opportunity, stay in the aptly named "Wasteland", and travel along it, getting work. The military units that do try to hold land in the Wasteland are not able to hold it, as they are faced with an Insurgency and other military units trying to do the samething. THE PEOPLE During the war, most of NATO's countries had representation on the frontline, including the US, Britain, Germany, and Ukraine. In addition to these, there are of course, the Russian soldiers, as well as numerous other countries, such as Hungary, Czech, and the like. THe Civilians that have survived, ceased to be civilians at the beginning of the anarchistic period that the area is in now. They have had to fight to survive, though many had been successfully evacuated. Some, sensing an opportunity, have immigrated to the area, and act as Black Market contracts, selling vehicles, weapons, food, and water. THE WEAPONS OF THE WASTELAND After the ground operations commenced on the front, many nations sent troops to aid the war effort. The US was guaranteed to show up, as was Great Britain, what with their allies in Poland, Ukraine, and Estonia at threat. In addition, the French government sent a unit of the esteemed French Foreign Legion into the field. Slowly but surely, many countries provided support..... And weaponry flowed into the area. Here, we will list only the most prominent of weaponry, however, others have been found in the Wasteland, mostly because of transport planes being shotdown in the airspace. -The AR-15 weapons family Due to the prominence of American units in the AoO, many M4's and M16 models, of varying style, are found. -L85 THe appearance of units from Great Britain ensured that these rifles would be used in the lawless period after the attacks. ........... Great start! Not sure if you're familiar with this series of books, but it has a similar premise from which you might borrow some ideas. https://www.goodreads.com/series/94254-the-zone |

I'm going with 28mm. So far, I have some Eureka Marines, and Blackwater Contractors. For rules, I'm probably going to go with Force on Force, albeit with modified vehicles rules, allowing different fireteams and what not to commandeer vehicles in the field, and modify them between games, by adding improvised armor and weaponry. |
