I can heartily recommend ripping apart old Faxes and printers, as lots of the feeders can be used to make ruined industrial kit; and they have quite a few cogs which could also be of use... just be careful of the ink cartridges/spools and things they may have had prolonged contact with! |

Nijamonkey; Probably not the same product, but I use bulletin board cork tiles by Dooley Boards. I get 'em in my local 'Freds' (Any general store should have it.) $3.50 or so for 2 sheets with the more coarse consistency. (What most of my barricades are made up of.) $5-something for 4 sheets of the finer-ground stuff. I use it for bases more than anything, but it's got more than enough texture to work nicely. Just spray with a layer of gloss black spraypaint, a few layers of flat black, and it's rock solid. Use the cheap dollar stuff; works just as well, if not better than the more expensive brands, it's cheaper, and the board will soak it right up. (If you're curious about why I use gloss, it's much thicker, and dries more sturdily, while remaining flexible, kind of like a layer of glue. I try not to spray it on very thickly because it will clog detail, and it takes a -long- time to dry. The durability is worth it, though.) |
