We played out the final game of our summer SBH campaign a bit over a week ago. 4 warbands battled each other and the city guard of Vildeburg, trying to get into the castle keep to escape the hordes of undead sweeping over the city. It was actually two games at once that combined into a final battle between the winners. It was a great end to the campaign with the winner of the final battle also being the club member (playing a band of Tharks!) with the most wins over the course of the 6 session (about 10 games long) campaign. Also notable, we were joined by a guest who had never played SBH before, but was able to quickly pick up the game and play the city guard with his nicely painted WHFB empire figs. As always, the full writeup and more pics are on the blog. http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2014/09/quake-mourn-campaign-report-session-5_26.html ![]() ![]()

Thanks fellas. We really do like SBH. It's the game that kind of brought the club together. 4 years later we still play it from time to time and this is the third summer SBH campaign that we've had. It's just a really fun ruleset that is extremely flexible in terms of the types of figures/characters that you can use in the game and it has had enough expansions that you can do most any type of fantasy adventure with it. Also the campaign mechanic works very well. We've also done a few "Of Gods and Mortals" games and will likely do more It's another game by the SBH author and shares most of the mechanics, but is different in a few ways. 1) Made for mythologic combat, but we use fantasy armies with it. 2) Has a little reaction mechanic that meshes well with the SBH activation mechanic. 3) Handles 2-4 times as many figures as SBH 4) Has squads of figures. 5) Is published by Osprey, so it's a bit more of a shiny production, but still very affordable.
