Thanks for the kind words.
They have been de-moulded today and should be cast and painted in about 2 weeks.

I think it is about the passion.
I like 6mm and will not simply make stuff that is adequate.
I want stuff that people think must be bigger due to its paint jobs and level of detail.

I am all about the 6mm!

StoneHaven begins...

1 of each from the moulds cast and undercoated.

I am going to make a board that is just a shanty town, StoneHaven and these will of course make up the majority of the buildings, but expect some others from my range and some scratch-builds on the board too.

WIP.

Stonehaven building, first of the second batch.

Not all Stonehaven buildings are made from scrap.
Some started as traditional simple adobe style buildings.
But then as the community grew so did peoples habitats.

This one started as a simple adobe but then as Stonehaven grew, he used his mechanic skills to open up a garage, as such he needed to expand his house into a workplace.
What we have now is a hybrid second stage dwelling that is both stone and salvage, home and business.

Nice. I like the fact that you have a back story for the building.

Nice. I like the fact that you have a back story for the building.
Thanks.
If you know why the building is being built or have an idea beforehand, it helps shape the building.
Makes more sense to me than just getting a box and sticking greeblies all over it.

First test one out of the mould.
Looks good, the original stone area is nice and rough and the metal is nice and smooth.
Will paint up on Monday, just need to think of a name for it now.
‘Scooters Chop Shop’ is winning at the moment

Zippy Couriers was the first 'hybrid' building in Stonehaven.
Most are either of stone construction or scrap metal.
Zippy Couriers is both.

Zippy Couriers started as a simple stone structure, but as business grew, Scooter (the owner) needed to expand.
He wanted Zippy Couriers to stand out, so he expanded upwards!

Using scrap from the Marco Polo, a crashed commercial space vessel, he made Zippy Couriers the magnificent business it is today.

Right then, as people said they liked the Stonehaven hybrid buildings I have started the shells of 2 more.

The bigger 1 will have the extension in scrap metal and the main body in stone.
The smaller 1 will be mostly stone but with some high tech trappings, the Soper generator and metal shutters as well as the recessed metal door etc.

Looking good AB!

What lured you into 6mm gaming?
Sixmil, why do I like sixmil so much?

My first encounter with 6mm was with Adeptus Titanicus and the little lead Space Marine that came with each Titan.
How cool was that little guy?
VERY cool that’s how much.

That was the hook that got me into it.
But then I drifted away after many fine years of playing Space Marines, Epic et al.

After years away from the hobby, booze, women and all the normal stuff I came back into the hobby, encouraged by my wife (also a gamer)
I set up Angel Barracks as a 6mm historical site (the horror of it all eh?)
After a bit, the lure of sci-fi took hold, I started playing FUBAR as 6mm skirmish.
Then I started stocking Plasmablast, Brigade Models and Dark Realm Miniatures.

Being skirmish I found I needed more little objectives than say a big battle game.
Civilians, wandering alien animals, piles of crud and so on.

So I set about starting my own range of 6mm sci-fi.
It is aimed mainly at skirmish, using my own free rules; KR 16.
But I have no objection if anyone wants to buy armies worth of the figures along with cities worth of the buildings!

For me, 6mm can have the detail, does have the detail.
It always could but not everyone demanded it.
If you demand more, you get more.
Big traditional armies often meant that the figures got a basic paintjob as it was the massed look that people went for.
So why bother making great looking detailed figures if they will only be given a simple paintjob?

I am very much on a bit of a crusade to show people that 6mm models can have bags of detail, buttons on pockets, serrated edges on chainsaw bayonets (chayonets), facial hair, keypad locks on doors, hinges on window shutters, all the stuff you expect now with 15mm.

6mm skirmish is my thing, but I am an advocate of all 6mm sci-fi.
I hope to share my experience both as a gamer and as a maker of 6mm toys.

Size Matters!

2 simple Stonehaven buildings, not very exciting, but these are just homes so how exciting can they be?

Next up, my most complicated building ever.
A Stonehaven multi building compound...

Here we can see more 2 of the ‘hybrid’ buildings of Stonehaven.

More permanent structures made initially from stone and then extended with scrap metal.

Here is a typical simple dwelling, a stone construction with a metal roof and a metal ‘soper’ generator on the rear.

Here is what started out as a simple dwelling, then an extension was added using left over scrap from Scooter when he upgraded Zippy Couriers.
