Gentlemen, esteemed colleagues , I treated myself to 4 of those Dust Tactics kit buildings in an effort to make some big terrain pieces . Very nice kits by the way. Immediately I cobbled together a whopper on a 24" x12" base and a more standard building that fits on a 12"x12" .Plus I have some leftovers. Im not sure if I should make another 24"x 12" and back it up to the first one or go with a more scatterd lot? Here is what I have and your input would be appreciated :D Posted Image Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

For me mate its 24x12 in the scatter fashion, I love the whole large landscape look, you can feel in here and there with smaller pieces?

Hope that helps!

I tend to agree with the warlord here! I prefer 1 large structure and tons of tiny ones. It seems like more of a run and gun style that way.

As for module size, it all depends on how many 12"x12" do ya have already made up, and the overall table size you want to cover.

These buildings look great, and they're monstrous in size! I can't wait to see them painted.

Rubble? that's the time you get to cut up all your old 'sprue' ........instant rubble! could you not make 'foam board' copy's? or as near as damn'it to the look of the buildings you've got?
actually I'm now thinking towards 12x12! more module.......

cheers

CLEAN clay cat litter is a good way to make rubble too.

Mr Clean and Inky - for your accurate assessment on my opinions, you guys get to skip Cleaning the Mutant Pit duty!

Holy crap they are huge! Are you planning on putting in ladders or something to move between levels? It seems a bit of a waste of all that height otherwise. If it was me I'd lop them off at the second storey and make a few extra buildings.

I knew all that brown nosing would pay off! I am planning to use broke up plaster casts ,sprue rubble, cat litter, sand and dirt from the yard.I saved all the cut offs from the buildings as well to tie in the rubble with the structure itself. Oh ya ,using the old noggin! I plan on making a rubble maze on the ground floor then some ladders as well as cables and vines and roots, yes I'm greening up my ruins, for acess to the higher levels.Steps too, poor lil ruins is just a baby now :D I like that imposing height -BOOM .Really for the money those Dust Tactics Tenement buildings are a good value.I think I got them for a little less than $20 each on Amazon and you get a lot of pieces.I have glued mine together but you really wouldn't have too for versatility.

I have been thinking of re working some of my older ruins. Adding weathing, graffiti, signage and plant life. Great minds eh? ;)

A rubble maze sounds a great idea.

I will have to keep a eye open for some dust tenements in the future.

Thats exactly what I'm shooting for. I've noticed the flora and fauna are thriving around Chernobyl and I watched those life without people series .It seems that 100 plus years after the end things would be overgrown .I 'm all pumped up now :bouncy:

The problem with these Tall ruins is that the value for gaming is limited. Essentially you end up with a tall spire blocking LOS on a small protion of the table. So unless the spire is part of town with tons of scatter and rubble terrain around, it becomes a sniper beacontower movement blocking rock wit only very limited tactical (gameplay) options...

I've made the same mistake ...urrr...have experience with terrain like that..
