I everyone, just found this link on the Lead Adventure forum.

Im the guy from Ramshackle Games. I notice some of our stuff has already featured in your esteemed and hallowed pages! From the topics I read I will address two things:

Yes, our wheels aren't the best, but they are cheap! I'm working on some better wheels at the moment actually. Ive got more practiced at casting and mould making, so some of our early stuff will be bettered, I promise!

The terrain I make is not done with stone effect paper. I modeld the stone texture in super sculpey, then made a mould of it.

Yes, well cool I will keep you guys updated on what Im working on. I should really get my butt in gear and post up some concept art and also a customer gallery on our main site!

Hi Curtis... welcome to the wasteland!

You mentioned wheels... ever seen these before (not wheels I mean... that would be dumb  ) but these wheels...

K'Nex Wheels & Gears

They're from K'nex (obviously ^o) ) made by a Hasbro Company (and therefore evil!)... can you imagine what would happen if "the forces of good" were to sieze some of these wheels and gears, make moulds and cast them...?

If the design were changed enough (say perhaps by drilling out the K'nex patented connection system) then they could be used with relative safety from legal reprisal... I hear some of these "forces" are even doing so even as we speak... ^_^

Hello there Mr. Curtis, welcome to the board!

I quite like your stuff mate, never purchased any, but I like the look of it :)

Good to see the boss of a modeling company taking an interest in the mad ramblings of fans of the genre! Damn good to see. But you do realise now you have to keep joining in on the conversations ;)

Well you do some great work for going 'solo' mate. I'm certain many modelers would aspire to be/do what you do, I know I do :)

Hi Curtis -

Welcome aboard. I am the guy you where emailing about the terrain tiles (unless there is more than one curtis there!). I think I might have misread one of your emails - sorry. :$

I have a soft spot for Rashackle stuff and own a couple of your vehicles and minis.

As the other moderators have said - feel free to post news and concept art here. Or just join in the chat. Funny you found your way here - I was about to email you/Ramshackle with a link. :D

So what made you decide to start a company, PA themed, Curtis?

What's the background story on Ramshackle Games?

I was working 9 to 5 as an animator. I worked for free radical, makers of time splitters and the new haze. I do Viking reenactment and got hit in the eye with a sword! So I lost the sight in my right eye, and basically looked at my life in a new way! I decided to try to start up a business making chess sets, but got side tracked and ended up making some vehicles instead. They sold better, plus I dont know much about the chess market. It all went from there really.

I love model making and painting figures. I just thought that basically I want to spend as much time as possible doing it. This way I get my wish!

The company isnt making huge revenuses, its basiccally just ticking over: it pays for itself. I have to do part time work to pay my personal living expenses. However, things are looking up! Since feb when I released the Huntsman Spider Tank sales have been getting better each month. If things keep going the way they are I might even be in proffit by the end of the year!haha!

Essentially, i want to be able to offer nice vehicles at a low price. It means that the casting techniques are not the best and we use cheap resin, but when the vehciles are £5 each I think its ok! I am getting better at casting all the time. Alot of it is in the design of the model. The latest release, the humanoid plant mutant, is the most complex and detailed resin figure Ive done. Ive designed the pieces with strength in mind. The resin can be quite brittle, but that just means you have to be more clever when making the original. In the end the Humoid is certainly strong enough for gaming. I think it would break if you threw it at the floor, but the resin tends to break really cleanly. Ive had a few breakages but most of the time if you glue the broken bit back on you can berely see the join!

Oh, talking about prices, Im putting up th price on the Huntsman on monday. It will be £35 from then, but is £20 at the moment. If you want one now is the time!

Er, well sorry for the plug there! haha! Im putting the price up after 6 months, it was on a trial price. However, Im not making enough from each unit that its worth the time of casting it! I mean, thats a 75% increase, but £35 is still very cheap for a model that is as big as the baneblade!

Nice! Sorry about the eye, but from what I can tell it was 'for the best.'

I may have to order from you at some stage, I didn't realise it was quite as cheap as it was (P&P to Australia might sting a bit though). Actually, apart from the plants, I haven't really checked in on you since I started the Bunker stuff over a year ago.

The huntsman really wowed the VSF, Sci-Fi and 40K fanboys when it was seen on TMP. :D Post Apoc seems to be really popular now with new rules coming out all the time and quite a few manufacturers carring small ranges of suitable minis. Long may it continue and further strengthen Ramshackle. Three or four years ago you could count on one hand the amount of rulesets and minis manufactures.

Got to admit your stuff beats using converted 40K ork vehicles for gangs - cheaper too. Even evilbay works out pricier.
