I found myself a long period of time, and have been doing a lot of Modelling and painting. I figured I'd post the terrain work and painting later in the week. Right now, I wanted to post Some Vehicles I gave the apocalypse treatment.

This is the first vehicle. I cut up one of my terrain Humvees for it. Once painted, it'll be a police hummer (I checked, they do have those) that has been commandeered by a pack of escaped convicts come slavers.

As this was my first hog, I kinda went overboard on it. I had a lot of ideas, and only one vehicle I knew would work, So I implemented them all on it. First, on the side, I decided that the window had been put out. So, scrap metal mesh in the windows, and one of the doors get's wooden barricades shoved on.

I liked the tire strapped on the hood look, but had no spare tires, So the cons have fashioned a wood and scrap substitute. The gun in the passenger's seat is a pre-war riot suppression sonic gun. As slavers, it is not uncommon for them to roll into the middle of the settlement, blast the gun at an unhealthy level, and chain the poor sods up while they clutch their ears and scream.

A skull banner. No idea what to paint on it, but it was in my bits box, and I had to use it. probably a prison flag, horribly vandalized. Any ideas?

The most lethal weapon in the slavers arsenal, a jury rigged harpoon gun. Capable of skewering all things from slave to death claw. Not tough enough for most concrete or thick armor, though. Unfortunately for most people in the wastes, no hard military will go after slavers. With everyone at each other's throats, mutants and monsters and raiders and worse, anyone who might possibly bring a modicum of order to the wastes has to be considered an ally to the leaders of the wastes. As you can tell, they don't get out their lead lined bunkers much.

Lastly, some souped up, ozone spewing vents.

The other vehicle was significantly less ambitious. Mainly, I didn't know If modelling glue would work. I think it was a failed experiment. I had put a bunch of bunch of wheel guards. While i didn't like them to begin with, I wanted to at least get a pic before I snapped them off. But they fell of before I could take a picture. The swords and the mesh on the back stayed on alright, but I wonder if it'll fall out halfway through a report.

So, those are my measly two cars. Until I learn if modelling glue works on diecast well, and where I can find a cheap source of diecasts, I'll have to be doing more urban combat games. But the humvee was a lot of fun, and came out well. I wonder if there are more plastic vehicles like it.

Great looking vehicles so far. Are you using super glue on those diecasts?

Nice one fishy, looking good! That's going to look sweet painted up. Are you going to do it in cop car colours? I like the fluff for them too. Where are the convict figures from?

That glossy paint they use on some diecasts is a nightmare to stick anything on, I've had the same problem. If you're going to repaint it anyway I'd spraypaint it before trying to glue anything on or if you need to keep the paintjob a layer of dullcote before glue works too.

The Cons are a mix if wargames factory ancient germans, Apocalypse survivors, WW2 GIs, and a hint of viking. If theres one advantage to brand loyalty, it's the eclectic amount of similar pieces you get along with it.

By spraypaint, do you mean priming, or spraying it the color you want as the base?

I think I'll try spraying and superglue for my next diecast, if I ever find one

Cool modifications on the hummer. It looks like it has been 'liberated' and then cobbled together to keep running. Once you get it painted, it will look great.

If you are going to attach stuff to die casts, especially if they have a smooth, shiny coat, I recommend sanding or filing the area you want to attach stuff to. This should break up the clear coat, or if you can get to the bare metal, that will work too. Modeling glue won't bond between the metal an plastic (it works by 'melting' the two plastics together somewhat) so it might work if the clear coat is broken up and it can combine with that. Really, a "super" glue would be better, they bond between different materials...

Good Luck :)
