They are made from plaster. I bought a toy car and i noticed the hard plastic shell the toy came in was roughly car shaped. I twisted it and bent it to give it a battered look and then poured plaster into my new mould. The second one i tried came out even more battered and worn looking.

Great idea. That should give plenty of wrecks without using up your original car. I think i saw some do a whole junkyard that way...

You could even make them into stacks, or combine cars as if they had crashed into each other...

maybe try not only mashing the plastic bubble it comes in but using some hot glue to add a little more ''rough'' texture to appear as dents when they are removed from the mold.

Cracking idea with using the packaging as a mould. You can get a product called instamould that you could probably do something similar with it has another name Oyumaru I think which is its original name and its cheaper to buy that brand you can make a mould then when finished re-use the stuff.
