Another Vault opens and throws a scout out into the Wastes on some desperate quest. He is kitted in Combat Armour.

Posted Image

The figure is a metal GW 40K Space Marine Scout. This figure was painted as part of the Big MeK's blog Speed painting contest. From primed the figure had to be painted and based in 2 hours. I chose the figure as in my usual organised way I had not intended to have a go at the competition and the SM was the only primed figure I had knocking about.

I was surpirsed that it only took me just over an hour. Of course I forgot to base it. So I did that in the remaining time. Still scraped in, in under 2 hours.

Sadly my Vault Dweller didn't make it in the competition ratings but I only entered as a bit of fun and to see if I could paint a figure in such a short space of time. There was some pretty amazing work entered and I am envious of some of skill some painters have.

I have some more SM Scouts in the minis pile. I am guessing some extra Vault Dwellers will be arriving soon. Look out Wastelands....

Thanks for the kind comments. +100 gives me opportunity to evolve things further. :D

This little gang has been expanded since they where first showcased in my old webpage. So I thought it was a time for a little update.

This little gang was inspired by the excellent Grenadier/EM4 Tribal sculpts and Terry Pratchett's Nac Mac Feegles.

The Pictsies Clan are a gang of fierce warlike Tribals from the Northern forests and mountains of the Brittannia Wastes of Mattblackgod's world. They have distinctive red/orange hair and their bodies are covered in blue war paint and tattoos.

The Pictsies have a odd mutation (or perhaps Evolution to survive the Wasteland conditions?). They are stronger and tougher than normal humans. Pictsie Warriors are fearless too. This is probably due to the fact that they believe that they are already dead and this is some for of Valhalla filled with Fighting and Drinking. Ballistic weapons are used for the fun of the noise they make but in general the Pictises love close combat where they excel.

The Clan often raid trade convoys between the settlements of the South and are a constant pain to the new settlement of Nu Caledonia. The Pictsies also dislike the Mutants that seem hell bent on conquering the Brittannia Wastelands. The Clans often attack foraging Mutant Warbands for sport.

Posted Image
L-R - A converted Historical Briton (Combat Zone Ganger arms), a Plastic fantasy barbarian, A converted Grenadier/EM4 Bodyguard(Kilt, Sporran and hair added), Grenadier/EM4 Tribal.

Posted Image
L-R Converted Grenadier/EM4 Tribal (Skull pole removed and shotgun sawn off), Grenadier EM4/Tribal, GW Necromundia Ratskin, Void Junker Beserker.

Posted Image
L-R Grenadier/EM4 Tribal, Grenadier/EM4 Converted Biker Chick (Kilt & Sporran added), Grenadier/EM4 Tribal, Void Junker Beserker, GW 40K IG figure.

The Picties believe in equality and their women will fight alongside the men often more fiercely. Only the clan Queen/Matriarch (Sheela Na Gig) does not enter combat.

Posted Image
Figure is a Grenadier/EM4 Tribal.

The hills of Pictsie land are also home to a fierce mutant known locally as "Haggis". These critters will eat anything and will attack anything foolish enough to stray close to them. The Pictsies have been know through some strange art to herd the Haggis towards enemy positions.

Posted Image
Sadly I cannot remember where I got these minis or who makes them.

The Pictises are one of my favourites of my collection. As you can see my painting of tartan has improved as time has gone by. I probably will add more figures to this gang in future. Maybe some Celtos figures or Warlord Celt conversions.

:hi: Wicked cool! I too have bumped my timeline for my Apocalypse.Seems I am drawn to the figs that are a little more sci fi and the heavy mutants. Gives the various factions more time to develop their uniqueness while keeping the old trappings of modern civilazation.

Thank you Gents. The longer time lines lets you mess about with misinterpretation of pre apoc culture. :D

The Haggises are from Black Hat Miniatures' "Shattered Isles" line.

More fodder for the grinder....

The missing Squat Hearthgaurd figure was found at the bottom of a bits box. A mantic weapon was added and he is ready to join his brothers in the defence of Copper Head.

Posted Image

Although the Alchemist figure is for my VSF setting (he is the starter for my VSF Anarchists faction) I thought he would be a handy if sinister figure out in the wastelands. He is here to gas your settlement and steal your loot.

Posted Image

Of course I am still working on figures for Utopia City. First up is a very odd character. With crime so high every now and then some nutter takes the law into his own hands. Usually its someone who has been pushed too far. Introducing....

THE PURPLE AVENGER!

Maybe I should copy right that name? lol

Posted Image

The Purple Avenger flys high between the Utopia City blocks looks for crimes to avenge. He is often very poor at it and usually ends up the victim of crime too.

Nothing is safe in Utopia and Corporation often try to screw each other. Here is a typical Corporate Spy.

Posted Image

The figure is a Grenadier/EM4 Corporate spy. He bears a resemblance to a certain early 90's British Prime minister. So I decided to paint him in a similar fashion as the Spitting Image Puppet of that Politician. A lot of grey tones was used in the paint job. There was even grey in the skin tones.

What does every city need? Non Coms. Meat bags and bullet magnets that get in the way. First up a news team...

Posted Image

Again the figures are by Grenadier/EM4.

A couple of standers by...

Posted Image

This pair are clix figures. Who knows they could be PIs or a similar organisation.

Time for some minis that have rolled off the paint table....

The first up is a character for Utopia City. Introducing Old Mick. This figure could be a store keeper, someone's dad or a Private Investigator.

Posted Image
The figure is by East Riding Miniatures - a Corporate Enforcer.

I am creating a world of dangers for the folks who dare to leave the walls of their settlements to wander the wastes. One thing is some killer robots. What fits the Post Apoc genre better than some Terminator style Skelebots?? My idea is for some one to wander into a ruin and straight into these things laying dormant. Will they wake up? Will the kill ever human that they come across??

Posted Image
The Skelebots are old Grenadier sculpts supplied by EM4 miniatures. The skulls on the bases are resin items from Ristul's Market.

I had a disaster when painting these guys. The figure on the far left legs snapped off. Bum! What to do?? I effected a repair with superglue and putty. I don't know how well it will hold. Only time will tell. The figure was leaning and kept toppling over. So I put a pile of washers on one side as ballast (you cant see it in the pictures). This was disguised with some putty to look like a cylinder with a rag over it.

Feeling like anarchy is ruling the wastelands? Feel like no where is ever safe? Then you need some Law Bringers!! Introducing Hammer and Anvil!
Posted Image
Hammer (Right) and Anvil (Left) are from EM4's Space Lords - Anvil is a Cybertech Bunkerbreaker and Hammer is a Yoyodyne Shigaru.

Hammer and Anvil wander the wastes looking for places where the law is ignored and then help the locals enforce it. Hammer usually starts the trouble and then Avnil arrives to help. Anvils armour and heavy assault rifle often makes the job easy.
