WOO! You took my advice!
You could do some as near prestine/regularly cleaned corridors for the main parts of the ship, then maintenance tunnels and engine room type corridors as rusted and gritty from years of wear and tear.

Loving everything so far, keep up the awesome work! Might just have to try my hand at this epic scale...

the colour is Army painter primer 'skeleton bone' over a black base coat sprayed from a distance to use the black to pre-shade, it worked well, I've got a lot of skeleton bone left! due to the 'truck build!' i used AK interactive enamel washes they are fantastic to work with, i cant recommend them enough, rust wash was used lightly so it wasn't too! over powering i like's it! and the 'chipping' came out well.

The Imperium, Chaos and Eldar cruisers for BFG are 3.5 to 4 inches long, the Escort class vessels around one inch. The biggest problem with BFG is that a lot of the rules seem to have been "inspired by" "General Quarters" which is designed for 1:3000th scale model ships - the game plays better if you have the space to use inches rather than centimeters for the range/movement scale. All of which is a bit academic as I understand GW no longer support BFG. However a lot of people said they used BFG models for "Full Thrust" - I haven't tried that myself.
If you do feel like doing some smaller models, these might be of use:

Twice the size and twice the price:

ive played a bit of firestorm armada... uk company with pretty slick rules and a good mechanic
for making your own ship rules.
not so keen on Fluff or factions but the rules themselves are good!

hmm i think it plays quite fast if you keep the ship count low, but i have no other
experience with spaceship gaming so im not the most educated!
