Odd question: 28MM model cement mixer?

I suppose this needs some explanation. I was walking home one day, when a cement mixer came out from around a nearby street. Looking at it, I noticed that if you got rid of the mixer itself, the truck chassis looked like a fairly good Post apocalypse non-military troop carrier.

Here's what I mean: That crow's nest thing above the cab would make a place to mount a .50 Cal, And some sheet metal under that would protect the driver. The flat part behind the cab would be able to hold troops or storage, and the back part looks like you could keep important things inside there too. So my question is: does anybody know where I could find a model or toy of one of these in 28MM scale? (or relatively close, scale creep doesn't bother me too much)

Hope this is the right section. I have an ice cream truck I intend to butcher too, so I'll post that once I get my hands on a screw driver.

Its pricy but what about:

They run around US $70.00

Otherwise all the cement trucks I have seen are more "truck" with a cab rather than the chute and cockpit type design.

I like the idea tho. Good luck!

Nice idea - but yeah, all the cement mixer models I've seen hve been this type:

Which don't have quite the same sort of convertability.

Another option (and one I'm sure I've seen folks use) could be to modify a quarry lorry (one with the railing section next to the cab; to use as a MG platform; and then the big old rear section for troop transport)

No idea if models of these are any more available though... :-/

I think that looks like it could work too. Anyone remember Tango and Cash?

IIRC Sainsbury sell a 1/56 diecast (a metal cab, plastic for the rest) like that in VLD's upper image for £3.99 tho can sometimes be found cheaper elsewhere: the range is called City Trucks.

I have quite a few of the City Trucks range, they do some good sets. Check out in Tesco's and B&M (UK only) they have them in there sometimes to.

I seem to remember there being an ice cream truck in " Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town". I look forward to seeing yours.

Maybe you could draw some inspiration from the U.S. gun trucks.
