Hi everybody, well I am starting my big scratchbuild of an apoc car the doner kit is a dragon 4x4 desert raider jeep which my friend Davied at the local model transport models in Preston gave to me after he had robbed some parts from the kit for his own project. I had built a couple of Cosworth v8 racing engines for another project which I had not completed and I am using one for the power unit of the car. I intend to use as much as the doner kit as possible but with lots of mods here are a couple of images please let me know what you think of my project. regards Baz Edited by baz, Mar 9 2013, 01:15 AM.

Hi Guys, here is an update on my 1/6th scale a poc car its maybe a half scratchbuild as the doner vehicle was the 4x4 desert raider by dragon which was a donation from a friend, the engine a ford v8 is my own work and other bits and bats have been added I have tried to use as much of the doner kit as possible, assembly is now almost complete and she is nearly ready for the paint shop before going out on patrol. regards Baz Edited by baz, Mar 14 2013, 12:28 AM.

Baz, WOW! WOW! WOW!............i've said it once i'll say it again mate your work is outstanding!................ok, a quick question or two, is the engine scratch built? it looks like it! or a resin cast? could you do a step by step'ish! tutorial on your paint method has i've a feeling its going to be very 'military modelling style'! i could be wrong! but that style would suit this size build and looking at your M3 that looks damn good, Baz, once more for those who didnt hear! 'outstanding!' mate. cheers AL Edited by london1662, Mar 14 2013, 05:36 AM.

Thanks for your kind words Al or shiuld I say London 1662 YES that is a scratchbuild cosworth I built two at the same time as for the paint job you are spot on it will be green brown rusty type colour with lots of rust and a good dirtying down. I will stick plenty of pics on as I go I am no expert I just keep trying to improve as I go and I have been building models for a long time about 40 years though not as big and not scratchbuilt. If I can help in any other way let me know regards Baz. ( the old guy ) heres a couple of pics of my large scale jeep I built a few years ago the wheels on the jeep were the hardest to make and took and age but look good Edited by baz, Mar 14 2013, 08:20 PM.

Hi Al the exhuast were painted with good old fashioned Humbrol enamels the colour is a mix of bronze gold rust and a dash of black, I could not tell you the exact ratio as this is just done on the spot, I also sometimes brush on another colour while the paint is drying to see what effect I get trial and error really I hope to have this vehicle complete soon and will of course be porsting loads of pics, I hope that this helps let me know if you I can help with anything else, regards Baz ( the old guy) |

The bullet holes and rust are phenomenal! Compared with all the body weathering and damage the seat seems too clean. Are you planning to weather the “leather” on it later? |

Hello Mr Crazy Joe, thank you for your coments, yes the seat will be very dirty this is only the first bits of weathering I have all the chassis and engine to finish yet then get out on location and shoot some good shots for the webpage. regards Baz ( the old guy ) |
