Just baught a new edition to my Black Templars army: a Landspeeder Tornado. Just gotta paint and glue in the pilot and gunner, then paint and floc up the base and this little killer is ready for the battlefield! Scripture work too forever to do on the hull but I think its a fitting touch to these zealous warriors.

Hey, I have never thought of that, but it seems to be a good idea, Shady. Thanks!

PS:
But if I were HVN I would be concerned about the contrast between the white scriptures and the grey/black background.

Sounds like a feesible method, but that would have to be quite a few layers of black wash, atleast 3. Probably 5-6 to get to the right shade for this army. I just might try that out for my kill team though.

Trying to get my buds at my local shop into doing more narrative driven games of 40k, and the 4th edition seems like the right way to go. Thing is 90% of the people there are strictly hardcore competative gamers. Even had a few tell me to leave the store and find another place to game because it was "their place and their right to run what games were played, and I was just getting in the way." Told'em to go shove a warhound titan where the sun don't shine and I kept it up. Hoping to get a 5th edition league going too, but mainly trying to push 4th edition.

As for my team, I plan on taking this bad boy along with 4-5 initiates (even mix of CC and range, but the main emphasis being CC in case of an odd number of guys), then a meltagun or heavy bolter marine and a bolt pistol/powerfist combo marine. And if there are any other points left over, toss in some frag grenades and maybe a neophyte or two for extra wounds. All around 200 pts of guys I believe. For the Universal Special Rules for my "specialists" I was thinking Fleet of Foot for one CC marine, Fleshbane for my Powerfist-ed CC marine, and I can't thin of the final one for now.

Black is hard to paint another technique I use is a final highlight of almost pure white on the corners where edges meet then a thin black wash to blend

HVNSNTSOLDIER- sounds like a good kill team... and i feel your pain
when it comes to finding more RPG-ness and narrative in the 40k rules
maybe rogue trader or 2nd edition might be the way to go?
theres plenty of room for narrative in kill team however.. why not try
combat patrol or 500pt games?

Mortius- h'mm that would be good for vehicles and such...
have you tried that on figures?
i feel a drybrush may be superior to a highlight on 20-28mm
figures... but it sounds good!
:)

@Shady: I have been meaning to get my hands on the origional Rogue Trader rules for quite a while now, but all I have found so far on evilbay is in the $50= range, a little too out of my budget at the moment. Been searching for a PDF version but little luck there as well. If anyone has a hint as to where I could maybe get a free copy or a very cheap copy I would be very greatful.

@Mortius: I do that same technique, but minus the wash. Valeho's Deep Sea Green or Reaper's German Gray works great for black power armor highlights. That's actually what I used in the above picture.

And speaking of pictures... Here's the finished product!

I have the original rules in hardback too. They are all encompassing, the add ons came later when some corporate bastard decided the milking the rules for every penny they could get.
