I just watched a film on Netflix instant streaming called Bellflower, and one of the characters builds an apocalypse car based on a 1972 Buick Skylark. It has twin exhaust stacks that feature a fuel-injected flamethrower system. Of course, they install a 6-71 supercharger kit. Other functions include three surveillance cameras, an intercom, a roll cage, a smokescreen, a "bleach drift-kit" and hydraulic rear suspension. Has anyone else seen this movie and/or tried to make a scale replica? |

I've not seen the movie, but I am aware of the car! As far as replicating it- the closest thing I can think of is the 1:24 scale Monogram kit of a 1970 Buick GS. I believe Hot Wheels did a '70 Buick A-body two-door in their typical small scale as a GNX as well. The wheels look to be modular Center Lines- I don't remember if the Monogram kit comes with these, but the ones from Monogram's '87 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe might work, or maybe the ones from their '70 Chevelle. You could adapt the Chevelle kit's supercharger to the Buick's engine, or possibly swap the entire Chevy drivetrain into the Buick. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that's probably what they did with the movie car. For the rest, you'd be best off scratchbuilding the visible stuff. |
