From time to time one of my old loves pops up: Battletech...
So this weekend I pulled out some figures, painted a bit and also tried to set up a battlefield with Heroscape tiles:

Cool stuff. Lots of people love this old game. Great models and minis. I am loving the radar dish. Where did you find it?

The radar dish is a find from a fleamarket - never figured out where the kit came from...

What size are those battletech models. Scale? Are they similar on size to a space marine just wondering if they would fit into heavy gear arena.

The mechwarrior minis are about 50-90% larger than Battletech minis. Neither Battletech nor Mechwarrior is terribly consistent, but...

Battletech is 1/285-1/300 and 6mm in scale (though some infantry approaches 8mm)

Mechwarrior is 1/144-1/160 and commonly called 10mm or N scale

My club bought scads of used mechwarrior and rebased them as a cheap way to try small scale sci-fi wargaming. We've had great fun using them with the rulesets Mech Attack and Future War Commander. There's a battle report at our old blog here:
http://rpgdiehard.blogspot.com/2010/12/future-war-commander-with-rebased.html

Even with their stock paintjobs, they look pretty great on new bases.

Shadowrat,
Excellent painting and decal work on those mechs. I'm still intimidated by the pile of mechs I have in a box (mostly unpainted plastics) from my childhood.

Anyone here play Quick-Strike?
I haven't the patience for Battletech, but I bought the PDF of the BT "Strategic Operations" (it's only 10 bucks) manual because it has Battleforce and Quick Strike Rules. Reading through them, it seems like a really streamlined Battletech ruleset that I could actually enjoy.

They do look good and the game I am getting into is 144th scale so I will take a look at them at origins.

Though I do like the miniatures, the painting illustrated here, and the tables. Those paper buildings look really good! I have never played the game, and most likely never will.
