All righty then, here's the Sandrunners and vehicles. I've included the close up figs, though my paint-jobs are strictly tabletop and not really intended for HiRes. Sandrunners. These guys are stock except that I've added "Grymn SMGs" from Hasslefree to them as machine pistols. Right end is a Sandrunner Enforcer, Left side is Graucus and Rex a Sandrunner enforcer character, and in the middle is a Warzone fig Captain Maximillian Helghast (I think). I've given him a new head, shaved off the gear emblem on his head and given him a chainsword. He's the leader of my force. It just so happens that at Little Wars last year I found a box with four more of his unit, What appears to be a lieutenant and 3 troopers on the same kind of dinos! This is a Junker "Desert Marauder Scavenger". The crew have been based separately as pictured earlier. I slightly re-positioned the headlamps/bumper and when I saw this ridged bit (1/35 tank bit I think) in my bits box I had to use it as it nicely echoes the ridged shoulder pads on the junker's legionnaires. I left the top of the roll cage off as it never fit quite perfectly and looks just as good without it. So that's all I have finished right now. In my biggest mass-paint ever, I've got 47 metal Legionnaires 3/4 of the way painted on my desk right now, but I can't find their shields! Also, waiting for assembly I have 20 more metal Legionnaires 8 Suicide bombers 6 Sandrunners 8 Centurious 5 Exo suits (kind of like GW terminators) 10 or so other foot troops 1 Desert Maurader with flamethrower 25 plastic Legionnaires that I'll probably arm with swords and machine pistols Big and small Viridian Weapons platforms on the back of dinosaurs that I'll recrew with Junkers. 4 more Bauhaus Dino riders in the same style as the leader figure. So there's a ways to go yet.... Here's some of my Junkers in action playing a very small game of WarEngine. I used the "Orgs" force list. http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/search?q=warengine I do think they look much better in soft gaming light... ![]() ![]() Edited by eilif, Nov 6 2012, 03:00 AM.

Thanks! Having an army that can be used for any game is kind of my goal with this force. I'd like to be able to play games of Wastelands or NY3K one day, then turn around and use them in 40k and Warpath the next. As for the larger games the units actually match up pretty well with the 40k Space Orks and Warpath Maurader army lists. The smaller games I play are mostly generic skirmish, so I can stat them up however, and there's enough interesting and diverse characters and line troops that I could put together some cool looking warbands. Who knows, some day I might even play Void 1.1 or Urban War with them! |

Great stuff. You only need 4-8 figures a side for NY3K. But I see why you need that many for 40K. A smart looking army you will have. |

Thanks! 95% of the games I play require around 10 figs to play, but for some reason I have a hard time resisting the urge to build larger forces. I'm ok with surviovors, etc in small groups, but a military force doesn't feel complete to me until it's a solid platoon with a few vehicles. |

About 4/5 done. I glued on and did the first color of all the backpacks last week. After two more backpack colors, it's a last check of the figs for touch-ups and then the dip. Still can't find the sheilds, but I'll probably dip the troopers anyway and then paint, decal and dip the sheilds separately when I find them. I've just got to get these figs out of my painting station! |

Just finished up two batches of figures in order to make room on the painting desk for my current Squat project. (which I am logging separately here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/491830.page) 47 Void Junker Legionnaires. These guys may see use in some Post-apoc skirmish games, Warpath and 40k (as Orx and Ork proxies) and maybe even games of Void! ![]() ![]() A small NeoSoviet Warband made from figs from Black Tree Design, FASA (Ironwind Metals now) and Demonblade games. These guys will definitely see some action in our club's winter Post-Apoc campaign.. ![]() ![]() More pics, miniature sources and methodology on my blog here: http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2012/12/fully-painted-void-junkers-and-neo.html |

It's been a while since I painted up any post apoc'ish figs, but here's a batch of 18 Necromunda Van Saar (and a scummer) that are nearing completion! 10 of these guys are figs I bought back when Necromunda was the "new thing" and 8 of them were stripped of my very poor 90's paint jobs. These guys have been on the desk partially done for over a month, but I've been taking some breaks to work on various scenery projects. However, tonight and last night I got a few more colors re-done on these guys. I've just got a few colors left to go back and correct and then the bases and then dip! and the obligatory group shot… I love Necromunda figures and particularly the Van Saar models, but these guys are so packed with intimidating details that I just leave alot of it the base grey color rather than make the models too "busy". Still, I feel like I'm painting a ton of detail. After these guys, the ERM Slicks figs I'm using for my Delaque will be a breeze! As well as Necromunda, these guys should be great as Vault dwellers, Fremen, ships crew, or most anytime you need kitted out fighters in skinsuits. Edited by eilif, Oct 4 2014, 05:23 AM.

That's the plan. Finsihed painting figs and bases today. Will dip tomorrow when I'm sure the heavy wash I put on the bases is totally dry. Then maybe a bit of drybrushing before the matte varnish and done! Hoping they will be finished by Thursday! Hacked away the cast-on bases and pistols from the Slicks tonight. Will take the dremel and saw to them tomorrow to finish the job so I can start grafting on GW/Necromunda weapons. Edited by eilif, Oct 5 2014, 04:20 AM.

Sure! I'll get some pics once I've finished trimming away the weapons and bases. In the meantime, here's a scale shot showing the Slicks with 3 figs. The heights from Sole of shoe to eyeline are: -The slicks vary a bit in height from 31 to 33 mm. -The Van Saar is 26mm sole to eye and my tallest Van Saar 27mm. -The Imperial Guard is exactly 28mm. -The Urban War/Metropolis Gladiator is 29mm, some of his buddies are 30mm. Note that the Slicks have pretty thick soles on their boots. You could probably shave 1 or 1.5mm off the height by filing those down. This confirms that (for me at least) slicks aren't really suitable for mixing with Necromunda Delaques. However, on their own, they'll make a fine gang. I'm also going to chop the shins out of a few of them to make juves. Also, the rest of the "Corporate" world figs by ERM are reportedly the same size, which means that these not-recent figs will scale up well against the current crop of 30mm+ figures that many companies are releasing, though they don't have anywhere near as much detail. I actually had a gangs worth of GW Delaque figs, but I traded them to a buddy of mine who want's to try necromunda. They were cool figures, but I've liked the look of the slicks for a while. They're sort of like the bad guys from Dark City if seen through the eyes of Jean-Pierre Jeunet or Terry Gilliam. |
