Maybe try stippling the outer edges of the windscreen with a shade like bleached bone/suitable substitute? I've also always toyed with covering the whole windscreen with watered down dust colour, and then trying to wipe the clean regions clean... but I've always been worried I'd just cock it up and end up with a ruined windscreen...

That's very simple: All you have to do is mask the part of the windshield which remains clean and then give the rest some matt varnish. After that you could drybrush it in a dusty color, but that's not necessary.

this is how the above looks:

was going to mention exactly what carrakon said, matte varnish really does a wonderfull job of fogging up windows on diecast vehicles and models

for that I recommend masking film sold for airbrush use. The back you peel off before applying has a normal paper surface so drawing on whatever shape you need is easy.

In my Wastelands there is no windscreens (shields) Reason being is simple, why pass up the free protein offered by the bugs slapping ya in the face? And if a pebble or a rock hit's ya instead, remember, "women love men with scars"...

Au contraire, my young Padawan. Mental scars make you dark and brooding and interesting ;)

Remember, folks: Never get with a woman who has more mental issues than you do!

Odd... I usually get called "childish and grumpy". No sparklie vampires here. :tease:

The Missus first was attracted to my rampant (yet hilarious) misogyny for some reason so drop the grumpy and start the hate-filled :P

Kind of late to the party on this, but what I've been doing is simply applying a wet drybrush of tan to the window and then immidiately wiping it in an arc with my finger. You can go back and use a cloth or sponge to completely clean it if you want.

The results are not as nice as some of the pics here but it's really quick!
