Was walking around Hobby Lobby today, handing in my resume and application (crossing my fingers here), when I noticed a certain package of miniatures in the hobby/train aisle. It was a package of roughly fifty 25mm Battle of The Alamo figures, made from a slightly cheap but useable plastic.... for $15. The uniforms matched the Prussians close enough to me. This was a pretty good deal in my eyes, fifty minis for just that much, in this economy? I'm jumping in on that! Long story short, and with about 12 different concept sketches drawn out, I've finally created the basis for my first VSF army. It will be based around a highly mechanised infantry division, the faction being the Prussian Empire. As of now, the army stands as such: -Two platoons of Prussian Regulars, 10 men strong -One platoon of Prussian Jagers, 15 men strong -Four Prussian Cannon Batteries -Leftover miniatures are converted to townsfolk and minutemen/mercenaries/conscripts Plans to come: -Prussian Klankentruppen (Clockwork/steampowered soldiers) -Prussian Rokkittruppen (Steampowered Jetpack Troops) -Steamtanks -Ironclad Ships and a Nautilus -Steam Spider Walkers -An Iron Giant Titan Walker -Jagermonsters (ala Girl Genius!) -Prototype Creations and a Spark tinkerer |

And another jumps onto the VSF band wagon! I, too, am on that band wagon but my VSF gaming uses 18mm paper figures, certainly very cheap! Have you made any decisions regarding rules yet? I know Mattblackgod is using GASLIGHT, as well, I believe Very_Lazy_Dragon too used GASLIGHT. Myself, I'll be using my old free rule system, "Modern Prometheus", made up from any rules I can steal bits and pieces from to bring life to 'em. |

GASLIGHT is the goal definately. Heard way too many good things about it not to give it a try. Plus it's the only ruleset I've seen so far that allows 100% customization of vehicles, from walkers to zepplins to tanks to dinosaur attack engines. |

Westwind games do a really nice spider tank (I think its for the SOTR Soviets) that I have been meaning to pick up if I ever enter Steampunk. Dreamforge Games also do nice Diesel Punk type troops with a Prussian twist that might be of interest. As for clockwork troopers, I would really like to see them. I have been looking for good clockwork parts to mix with zombie miniatures to make undead cyborgs. |

Ramshackle has the huntsman Spider Tank too, it would fit very readily into a VSF/Steampunk world. see: shop.ramshacklegames.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=129 |

If I can find any old Wild Wild West or Atlantis: The Lost Empire McDonalds toys or clearance bin toys with a steampunky nature to them, that is also a great way to save money and get your vehicles. EDIT: Finished assembling my first cannon crew, the guns shall ring and our soldiers shall sing the warcries of victory! For the Kaizer! Edited by HVNSNTSOLDIER, Apr 11 2012, 05:22 PM.

Been a while since my last update. No, the project hasn't died, just been sitting on the backburner since I can't seem to find my camera to take pictures. However, on a brighter note, my Prussian Jaeger Irregulars are almost done. As of now, here's the list of projects for my VSF army in progression: HEROIC UNITS -Owen Mortimer (me!): Still being pondered on... -Boilerplate, the mechanical marvel of the 19th century!: Shall be built as a Hired Gun unit. Look up his comic, he's the Atomic Robo of the 1900's! -Herr Klaus Von Wulfenschtein: Kommander of der Kaisers 162nd Mechanised Rifle Regimnent, and well known Spark. INFANTRY -Prussian Jaegers: 15/15 assembled, 10/15 painted, 0/15 based -Prussian Riflemen #1: 0/20 assembled, 0/20 painted, 0/20 based -Prussian Riflemen #2: 0/20 assembled, 0/20 painted, 0/20 based -Prussian Artillery: 2/4 assembled (need to be re-based on square bases). 0/4 painted, 0/4 based -Swiss Clockwork Sniper: 1/1 assembled, 1/1 painted, 0/1 based -Swiss Clockwork Gatling Gunner: 1/1 assembled, 0/1 painted, 0/1 based -Swiss Clockwork Soldiers: 0/5 assembled, 0/5 painted, 0/5 based -Engineer(s) for Clockwork Soldiers, Sniper, and Gatling Gunner: still to be thought over.... VEHICLES -Iron Giant: bluprints drawn and materials currently being gathered -Ironclad Steamboat: blueprints drawn and materials gathered. Dual paddle wheels under construction -Zepplin and Mini Attack Balloons: blueprints drawn for both, almost have all materials for big zepplin. |

They're a cheap plastic brand, measuring just above 25mm. |
