Finally got my hands on the PS3 version of id's RAGE. The game is fun without being great, but it's graphics are quite impressive and the wasteland looks gorgeous. That asteroid theme really fits well, too. Unfortunately they missed telling a good story after that promising start.

There is some good gangs, places, character and mission fluff in Rage. I love how the gangs all have a different theme and accent. One gang is distinctly British and there is another Russian sounding gang. Is this intended to talk about the game or the background fluff? If you are then a spoiler alert may be in order. If its game discussion I will move the thread to the computer games area. |

Hey Matt! No, I don't want to discuss this in an epic way and I didn't realize that there is a thread for computer games, sorry for this. I just wanted to point out that Rage has a huge collection of good looking scenes and characters that offer great ideas for terrain making or miniature conversion. I'm in the final stages now and the fluff increases more and more while the story developes poorly... One last word about Rage: WINGSTICK!!!

I visited the Rage Home page, lots of ideas for Wastelands there for sure in their demo videos. Illustrates how easy cover is to come by. Too bad that some of the terrain would be too impracticable for a miniatures game. Another visit needs to be made again, but with a sketch pad in hand to record some of the ideas. I am especially partial to "Jackal Canyon" with all those vertical aspects! Again it would be really impracticable because hands, and miniature placing difficulties. The confined areas is the reason I've adopted board length black powder ranges. Measuring for those hand thrown weapons could still become a nightmare in the claustrophobic environments. |

The Jackals are a pretty cool tribal gang. The end is a bit lame. It felt like there should have been another level. They should have left the end open so you can go explore and kill everything all over again.

I watched a walk through on YouTube and agreed with so many different levels of action there should have been a hell of a lot more going on... there should be tons more detours and multiple story lines for that area. |

I wonder if it was the curse of the big buck developer stepping in to get their returns? That is one of the things that happened with Stalker. That game was only half finished hence Clear Sky with the extra mutant abilities and what not. |

Long development and short buyer attention spans are a tough pair of problems to try to solve. Take too long in getting the product out the door and you loose business, and if ya cut corners to meet the customer demands a sh!++y product will kill your company. |
