I wanted to make my Mutant tribe some sort of home/stronghold/ place to hang while waiting to be butchered by heros. Orginally in my head I was going to build a few junk shacks. But last friday I found a big peice of hardboard and a load of pink foam and polystyrene off cuts I'd been hoarding one thing lead to another and my Mutants are on their way to having a nice little moutain stronghold to drag their victims back to.

Early days yet lots (and lots) of work to do but I took some pictures of the basic outline shape all built from carved foam/polystyrene.

Ahh yes the cork cliffs ....bit of model railway envy. The bark was free though I found it in a skip. I'm hoping to do a waterfall....though being PA it's more likely to be a greensludgefall.

Good beginnings!

There isn't any reason not to have a waterfall, in fact, it would be a great point of attraction to those thirsty heroes in your Wastelands!!

Looks good so far. Perhaps a greeny waterfall chemical outflow or somthing. This reminds me of one the Fallout Tactics missions when you first get the APC theres a hilltop fort you can explore (but don't have to) full of super mutants and loads of cool guns n stuff

Great stuff Jon.

If your making a fortification you can enter this in our 2012 challenge. If so say the work and one of us will move your thread to that board.

Hi guys thanks for the comments

Matt - yes it will be fortifed (not very well) so yes it could go in the 2012 challenge.

A bit more progress. After the construction with pink foam and polystyrene there were a lot of gaps (espeically around the cork cliffs) so I broke out a trusty can of expanding foam filler. Once the filler had cured it was back to carving and sculpting with the exacto knife.

Next up was texturing the whole thing. I did this using a grey floor tile grout which gives a good texture dries very hard and acts as extra filler.

Right some more progress the bulk of the first stage of the painting is done to the main mountain. I've also started tinkering with adding some shelters and defences (plenty more of these needed)
