I've purchased and playtested SuperSystem 3rd ed and like the ruleset very much. I also considered this method "dipping" on my minis, as it seemed to be a quick way to enhance their appearance. I therefore purchased a tin of Wilkinson Woodstain Quick Dry (Mahogany) and set to work. I first had two plastic Zombies from Wargame Factory acting guinea pigs .Well, I dipped and all was well, BUT the varnish was quite thick despite shaking and stirring and wouldn't dislocate the excess even when I shook the mini violently!!! Plan B went into force and I dabbed with a tissue to rid the excess, and I achieved a "not too bad" result in my opinion. Next time around I think I'll get some VERY cheap brushes and just dab it on with. The result can be shown on these three re-painted DC Heroclix. Behemoth (Bane), Bulletcharm (Criminal) and Raider (Checkmate). Edited by Legionnaire, Jan 8 2012, 11:30 PM.

Seems to work okay. How long did it take to dry?

It was touch dry in less than an hour, but I left it over night just to play it safe. |

Here is my take: 1) Brushes, definitely brush it on. 2) Don't use wood stain. Get India Ink, various shades and acrylic floor polish, w/o cleaner (cleaner is bad); Future, or whatever they are calling it now is best kind here in the states. Use about a 5 to 1 mixture (ratio varies for different colors and manufactures). The results are better and more controlled, than simply dipping a fig in a can, and you don't have to mess around with mineral oils to clean stuff up. |

They look good ! I did some magic wash work myself recently on some horror clixs and they turned out good as well.Totally acceptable for henchmen types. I use pretty much the same formula as Fantasy Fixtures except I use arcylic paint for pigmentation. I never tried the wood stain but I would if I could get my grubby lil paws on some |
