If ya try to get specific size your going to have to pay... best bet is make a small scale ruler to carry in your wallet and just measure a store full of cars to find the right ones to do the best job. Folks around these parts have luck with $1 Stores and the such. Me I found some Jada's to come close. Really depends on how much scale creep you can stomach.

When ya find something share what is is and where you located the vehicle.

My PA setting is slop in the year of action so most vehicles are cannibalized to the max to work. So find yourself a good set of wheels and build from there... mine are plastic bottle caps, or casted junk pieces (still in the embryonic stages of design).

I use primarily 1:43rd, and I like the fit with my figures.

Here is some comparison shots for ya.The fig is a Reaper 28mm heroic scale and they work well with the 1/43rds pictured. If you figs are bigger start with the 43rds and if you figs are more true 28s or based on washers I'd go with the 1/48.I do get mine at the dollar store for $3 a pop.Take a fig with ya or a wallet card with sizes marked.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Best tip..keep a old mini in your pocket that way when you stumble on a find you can compare the size. If it looks/feels okay then go for it!

I avoid the 1/64 cars (Hotwheels/matchbox ect) as they are too small.

1/25th scale is going to be WAY too big. 28mm figs are 1/56 if you use an actual scale representation. The base usually kicks their height into the 1/48 scale.

I second this with the addition that some 1/56th scale (becoming popular with 28mm WW2 gamers) vehicles work as well.

I think 1/56 is the "official" 25/28mm scale , isn't it?

I think 1/56th is considered the right size for 'true' 28mm figures, with 1/60th for 25-28mm figures. Heroics, or figures on GW bases are more 1/48th, but thats mainly due to the extra base height and overemphasised features on some heroic figures...

The other thing to keep in mind with a Hot Wheels car is that not all of them are 'true' 1:87 scale. Some are what's called 'box scale' that is, they're scaled to fit whatever box or blister pack is being used. A great case in point is the old Oshkosh snowplow truck... in real life, the thing would easily dwarf, say, a '65 Mustang, but the Hot Wheels version isn't much bigger than the Hot Wheels Mustang!

There is a company called Kinsmart which sells a number of diecast pull-back toys in scales around 1:50 (there isn't really any one particular scale with the Kinsmart stuff, but it usually falls between 1:40 and 1:50) that look like they might look okay paired with some of the figures posted. They're available at most Rite-Aids and run about five bucks a pop.
