Death Race Project 2011-2012 Road Rage rules; Pics of my project to present a Death Race scenario at a few cons

Posted at Frothers but figured I'd share it here as well since I finally got off my lazy hindquarters and uploaded pics of the game. Well, the set up as once I started running the game I completely forgot about the camera. Been chipping away at doing a Death Race game using Phil Tortorici's Road Rage rules. Put in an order with Stan Johansen and got the rules, armor, and weapons. Went about taking some Hot Wheels apart, not as easy as I'd imagined it to be, adding weapons, priming, and repainting the lot of them. Cards were constructed from some Dollar Tree foam, oil slicks and smoke screens based on balsa with glue and cotton balls. A lot of work but I've got the game able to be run and the rest is just adding character to the track.

I wish I had a good AAR but that day at the shop was also a 40K tournament and I had to wait like 4 hours for a table to finally open. I'll be running it again and promise to take better pictures and track the action. It was my first spin with the rules as well so I was busy explaining everything and getting everything in order.

The rules themselves are pretty easy to understand and has a good flow. Probably the only thing was the slow speeds at the start when the cars are bunched up and ineffectually ramming each other. At starting speeds it's really hard to do much more than scrape paint. We did have a car slam on the anchors and another vehicle rear ended it and the collision set off both of the cars' weapon magazines. *boom* Two cars out of the race right at the first corner.
The rules run light years faster than Car Wars. Not sure how they measure up against Dark Future as I never played that one. Personally I like them better than Axles & Alloys, Warlands, and Car Wars. Need to pick up the motorcycles and pedestrians supplement as well.

The game is made by Stan Johansen games. It also has miniatures figs and weapon pods for hot wheel/matchbox cars.

Here's the website

I've been wanting to try these rules myself, but at 20 for the main rules and another 20 to be able to use bikes and peds its a pass from me right now. Is it sold as a PDF download version anywhere for less than 2x gw book prices?
