Time to show off some of my sci-fi vehicles. First up a Hanza AFV. ![]() ![]() ![]() A 1/48 Academy Merkiva with a new weapon. For some reason the Red Lance of the Krom Corporation keep turning up for photo opportunities. Damn show offs! Next a Grendel APC. This belongs to generic forces of various independent worlds. Judging by the colour scheme possibly McNulties world. ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally...for now...a Pirate Speeder.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After 22 years I finally made a deodorant stick speeder! I daubed it in my standard Pirate paint job. |

Right you are Mr Tinker! I cant remember the brand but I soaked the empty container in water to clean it out and help removing the labels. I then keyed it with some fine grit sand paper. First addition was the cockpit. That was a plastic tea spoon. Lob the handle off. The turret is made from several old clix bases stacked. I placed the bottom of another to hide the clicky window and add a bit of detail. Due to the shape of the container there wasn't enough surface to glue the turret too. So I filled it with Milliput and used that to stick the turret on. The weapon came from a Robogear toy/model and the sensor array is a paper ball you get in craft shops. The engine came from another Robogear toy and the two side thrusters I found in work. They were once Fibre Optic connector caps. Various plastic screw covers make up the other little details on the hull. The rear wings were donated by a 1/72 Phantom aircraft kit. I had to drill the hull and then make slots with the old craft knife. *recounts fingers* Yup all there! The antigrav units under the hull are large black counters that I got from EM4 for making manhole covers. The bottle had little indents near the bottom with a arrow on them. I decided they looked naff and covered them with cereal packet card. I drilled this to look like it had sunken Aero style rivets. Plastic card may have worked better but it may not have curved as well to the hull. The hatch (with the skull and cross bones) is more cereal packet card. Looking at it, it could do with a bit more detail. Oddly enough the build time was quite quick. I am now looking for other bottles to use as doners. I have a couple of 1/72 Phantom wings I need to use up! Edited by mattblackgod, Sep 12 2011, 04:22 PM.

Man, how'd I miss this one...just zipped right by it. The good ole Speed-Stick Speeder. I honestly don't think one can call themselves a "SciFi Scratchbuilder" until they've built one. Kudos to joining the club :-) |

The mouse breakfast burrito! In cheese sauce ![]() Well, it will be a while before my deodorant is emptied. Good thing it's not a twin body build then it might be months before I use up enough of the stuff! And some folks think gamers don't use the stuff at all... or, is that soap? Ditto Ross, I have both a male and female mice ready for inspiration to boil over. I believe that I mentioned a cannon walker a feller made using disposable razors to Danny, but I can't recall if that was public or via PM. It can be viewed at http://www.damnedhumanrace.com/tutorials/tutorial012.php |
